Enjoyed the time on Ubuntu Netbook Remix OS

The time of reading, that I got with the system was great. Delays were expected with it being a SATA device and no flash. But everything was good and quickly loaded applications. The home router connection was simple and easy to follow. I wasn't expecting to be able to use this "remix" so quickly and achieve internet access with an email client, shortly behind.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this new Netbook and the installed operating system.

Greetings

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba NB100 with Windows XP and I'm trying to install UNR, I tried to boot from a USB USB Kingston Datatravel or of a LiteOn CD/DVD external and it does not start. I changed the BIOS settings to boot from USB and cd/dvd and nothing happened yet.

    Hello!

I know on this laptop it s possible to boot from a USB stick so I m wondering what it doesn t work.

However, perhaps that the USB drive is not bootable, or they are some missing files to boot from it. I m not an expert of Ubuntu, but maybe this Wiki article is useful to you:

  • Has anyone installed Ubuntu netbook remix 9.04

Last weekend, I downloaded and installed the beta version of UNR 9.04 on a USB key. Had a quick play with it on the Toshiba and it seemed to work OK in addition to being unable to scroll with the touchpad, I think it's related to this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315882.

I wanted to install the new version until I was happy that everything would work OK. Has anyone tried to install 9.04?

    Hello

I didn't test a new version 9.04 but why you n t try just the newest pilot of the synaptic touchpad
I mean its worth to try an I doubt a new version of the touchpad driver would cause serious problems

  • Satellite Pro A120 - fan run all the time

OK, so this is a strange...

I have a satellite Pro A120. It works with the fan on all the time and sometimes goes on a mayor go slowly (which I think can be reduced to overheating).

Operating system is Ubuntu and I installed the tool of sensors that tell me about the minute the temperature is 100 degrees c and the next one is 16!

I suspect that it is perhaps that the heat sink is full of fluff, but I can't find a guide step by step to dismantle the machine, clean it and put it back together again.

Can anyone help with ideas or resources?

    Thank you very much

    Nathan

    Hello

You do not need to disassemble the unit to clean the fans.
You can use a jet of compressed air which helps to remove dust.
I did it several times and it helped!

    Try it!

  • My Satellite A100 GPU fan works 100% all the time

First: I have the Satellite A100-440 with GeForce Go 7300 and XP Professional (and Ubuntu).

There is something wrong with thermal control. The first PC Wizard has always shown that the temperature of my GPU is "a very large number" and the fan is runnign 100% all the time (the main problem). Then I installed ATItool hoping he would show the temperature correctly. Well, it worked in part. Now when I check the temperature with PC Wizard, it indicates the temperature of the GPU normally (like 30-40 degrees celsius), but it also shows the GPU Diode temperature it's "a very large number" (as 4.294967E + 09 C) and the fan will operate at 100%.

I tried to control fans with RivaTuner, but nothing happens.

So if anyone has an idea how I could continue to solve the problem, I would be very grateful. I don't know if the problem is with the hardware (I could take this service) or with the software...

    Thank you!

    Hello

Why are you talking about 'problem' and 'solve this problem?
    I see no problem!
First of all I'm not all 3rd party applications that monitor temperatures. I'm not 100% sure if these applications provide a good values.

However, as far as I know the laptop was shipped with Vista and not XP and Linux. You do not use a factory settings. It seems that you have set up the laptop with new applications and you should know that all the software installed and running insists on the CPU and other parts.

BIOS fan table supports different temperature and cooling of the speed measurements. This means that if the temperature rises to a higher level, the cooling module starts and tries to decreases the internal temperature.

Usually the temperature depends on the use of the laptop. If several processes of the OS are running in the background, that the CPU performance are high, the temperature rises and the fans start to run. There is nothing unusual about it.

Furthermore, the dust and debris inside the laptop might have a bad influence on the laptop cooling. From time to time, it is advisable to clean the cooling modules.

Last but not least the laptop must be placed free on table to ensure the circulation of air correctly. Don't forget that there is enough free space around the laptop.

Finally, I must say that one of my friends has an A100 and the fans run correctly.
This means that the cooling modules works with maximum performance while playing games or using graphics software.
However fans do not work with maximum performance using only common programs like IE software or office.

    Good bye

  • T500 black screen all the time

    Hello world

today I was surfing on the internet on my Lenovo t500 ubuntu. After a Kernel Panic (I'm not sure it was that of the text on my screen). I shut down the computer and restart it but the screen remained black. Thinkpad logo not even at startup. The fan works cover work, the keyboard too. So after trying to fix it I went on a walk when the computer was on and when I got home I heard the noise of ubuntu when it starts. So I try, but the terminal to perform music and it works but screen stay black. I tried remove the RAM, stop 10 times without battery or plug. Nothings worked. Someone has an idea? I can't try again without another screen.

    Thanks for help.

    Thank you.

So I solved the problem. Apparently something material was wrong, I opened the entire computer and try to see something. I removed the bios battery. I started the computer enter the bios and output graphics card from ati 3650HD of the trunk and asked the computer to rely only on the graphic chipset intel. Now my computer starts normally everything works. If something is wrong with my ati mobility radeon HD3650. I guess it is soldered on the motherboard for a 5 year old computer isn't worth it to replace it. I'll stick with the graphics card low exepct if you have anyidea how to fix my ati.

In any case, thanks much for the help.

  • By dividing the time base clock sample by N, we're the first sample on pulse 1 or pulse N?

I use an external source for the time base a task of analog input sample clock. I'm dividing down by 100 to get my sample clock. Is could someone please tell me if my first sample clock pulse will be generated on the first impulse of the source of the base of external time, or about the 100th?

I use a M Series device, but can't see a time diagram in the manual that answers my question.

    Thank you.

    CASE NO.

    CERTIFICATION AUTHORITIES,

I don't think it's possible to use the sample clock of 3 kHz on the fast map as the time base clock sample on the slow map and get the first sample to align.  The fast card can enjoy on each pulse signal 3 kHz, while the slow card will have to meet the requirement of the initial delay before he can deliver a sample clock.  If you turn this initial delay a minimum of two ticks of the time base, the slow card eventually picking around the edges of the clock 2, 102, 202, etc..  You can set the initial delay for 100, which means that the slow card would taste on the edges, 100, 200, 300... but you wouldn't get a card reading slow on the first edge of your sample clock.

    Hope that helps,

    Dan

  • Clock again R61 does not properly take the time

My new R61 is chronically displaying the wrong date and time. Basically, it runs fast. I have reset several times over the past days.

For example, there are about 20 hours, I turned on and found that it contains a date in 2009. I reset the date and time at the moment, and after 20 hours of the date that is displayed is 6 days in the future. I have not studied it enough to know if it is related to a particular power supply situation. Part of these last hours 20, the computer was hibernating on the battery power, part of the time it was running on AC and part of the time it was closed.

Has anyone else seen elsewhere? I am running SUSE Linux (installed by Lenovo).

This has been resolved. I installed Ubuntu Linux instead of SUSE Linux Enterprise Edition that was installed by Lenovo. The clock now works perfectly. Thus, it was not a hardware problem, but a problem related to the interaction between the hardware and the operating system.

    Hey Toni-LeeFurlotte,

    ·         Have you tried to connect to a different USB port?

Method 1: Try to connect the USB key to a different port on the netbook and check the issue. You can also connect the drive to another computer and see if the problem persists.

Method 2: Update of the netbook with the latest chipset drivers. In addition, install other updates of the device driver. Log in the Web site of the manufacturer to do the same thing.

Method 3: This problem can also occur if there is a drive letter conflict. A drive letter conflict occurs if the disk that is affected by the error is mapped to a reserved drive letter. I suggest you try to change the drive letter.

Use the startup clean and other methods to try to determine the cause of and/or

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded
on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is
Poster: load address of the driver, description, version, product name,.
company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit Maker as replacements and system manufacturer of device which are
the most recent. Control Panel - write - graphics card - device manager
the brand and complete model of your video card - double click - tab of the driver-
Note the version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this can do nothing
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard
If there are 3rd party with their own software and drivers and the other main device drivers
    you have.

Now, go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restore)
and site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get the manufacturer and device
their latest versions. (Look for the system to update the BIOS, Chipset and software updates
    Site of the manufacturer here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN -.
    REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you are
installation actually appears. This is because that some rollback of drivers before the
later is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a driver - reboot.
Make sure that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW to the device makers DO NOT RUN THEIR
SCANNER - check manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using
the above methods is preferable to ensure the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system
    and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable driver facilities
in the updates of Windows, which leaves on Windows updates, but it will not be installed
pilots who are generally older and cause problems. If updates provides a new
driver then hide it (right click on it) and then go get new ones manually if
    you want.
