Envy 15-j0000: installation procedure for Windows 10

I want to install windows 10 x 64 using a USB flash drive. But I'm a little confused on UEFI and inheritance issues.

Vikesh_navin

The fundamental issue is that the new machines have UEFI while the old machines using the BIOS.

Any accumulation of PC after Win8 came out likely UEFI; those built before, aura of the BIOS.

The installation media Win10 you generate from the MS site will include the UEFI boot by default files, so if your PC uses UEFI, it it will use for the installation.

Legacy mode is a way to emulate the older BIOS, but it does not always work.

Here is a link with some information on UEFI: http://www.howtogeek.com/175649/what-you-need-to-know-about-using-uefi-instead-of-the-bios/

Your best approach is to build media Win10 using this link: install Windows 10 using the tool of creation of media - Windows help

Good luck

    Hi Martine regina,.

We will not be able to reset the password by using the option repair; you will need password reset disk.

  • ENVY M6 - 1184ca: 8.1 for Windows does not start after the installation of update KB2919355

Updating Windows 8.1 KB2919355 has proved to be extremely problematic for me. When he was released at the beginning of 2014 that I was not able to get installed it with the exception of two occasions, the first being several months ago and the second time, a few days ago. I have constant pain to try to get the update of KB2919355 until recently. What finally got the update installed was opened as administrator command prompt and type the following commands,

    DISM/Online/Remove - Package PackageNameackage_for_KB2919355 ~ 31bf3856ad364e35 ~ amd64 ~ ~ 6.3.1.14

    and then

    DISM / online/cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

So now, the update of KB2919355 has been installed. Only one problem: like the first time I had the installed, Windows Update leave commissioning. As the HP splash screen that normally appears during the startup process appears after about 3 seconds, Windows displays an error Stop, and for a fraction of a second will display SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error, which as I read, is related to the graphics drivers. The thing is, after the cancellation of the update (the computer in Mode safe start put Windows automatically uninstall the update and everything goes well after), then go in and uninstall the graphics driver, restart, reinstall the graphics driver and reboot again, and then reinstall the KB2919355 update, the problem recurs. I also tried to download and to install the new update of firmware for my particular DESIRE machine which was released a few days ago, but which has not helped either.

I'm really stuck. I looked up and down, and I scoured Internet for anything that might help. I need to update KB2919355 be installed because without it, I can't book my free upgrade of Windows 10. This laptop is about 2 years and a half old now, so it fulfills all the prerequisites for Windows 10.

Please do not suggest that I do a Refresh of the system or a system reset, as I have no way to back up my programs, that which some I would not be able to reinstall because I have more drives for some of my programs. Also, I can lose to save him for some of my games.

When people ask me "What's up?", I always say 'the CAP '.

So that seems to have solved the problem that is described in this post here. I followed the suggestion, which was to uninstall the driver, SPDT DuplexSecure (which has something to do with the SCSI devices, I'm not quite sure) using the SPDTinst (download here) and now it seems that Windows has started without crashing after installing the update KB2919355. I'll check my Windows Update history and see if it is there.

Low and behold, a year to be really behind value is ultimately more. I have successfully obtained the update of KB2919355 works on my computer.

  • HP Photosmart 5500 series main: installation procedure for the printer software

In my attempts to install the software of series of Prniner of 45510e-all-in-one Photosmart hp, I think that the process does not complete the installation of the software. After I clicked on that I accept the terms of the agreement, that he turns back to the ilnstall screen and a few seconds, it indicates the installation is complete. I don't think that the process is quick. It seems that there may be interrupted the process.

In support of this contention, the printing software HP and doctor Scan shows the software seems incomplete and that there are problems of dirver.

Can someone provide explanations that the question of the installation is deficient in this case, or that he really install this fast?

    Arthur

The initial installation software for the HP Photsmart 5510 series was the correct software.  I finally resorted to re - install Windows 10. I was then able to uninstall properly the remains of the 5510 installs my computer which allowed somehow not all subsequent installations trying to finish. Unfortunately, the software would not overwrite the wrong files and it does not alert me to the fact that it was not complete installation.  It simply says that the installation is complete.  My guess is the ultimate failure of the procedure was the result of some entries in the REGISTRY, creating a conflict with the installation and full installation process was abandoned.

The process automated to re - install then took place without a hitch and all the functions of the printer now appear to work as expected.

I think that an option in the installation process to allow overwrite existing software on the computer may well have solved this problem without pain. The alternative that I had to go through has been extremely laborious and frustrating.

Try to visit www.microsoft.com and search for "extra parts".  Assuming that you are in North America, you will find contact phone numbers.  Here is a text of this site:

"To request the replacement of hardware or software, contact the Microsoft Supplemental Parts team at the appropriate number provided in the"Contact information"section. You must be in possession of the product (if it is damaged or defective) and be able to provide proof of purchase. • Lost installation disc for Windows 7 Professional X 15-37362

    Hello

I bought an OEM of Windows MicroCenter version when I built my computer in 2013.  Since then, I've lost the installation CD.  I have the product key, and when I try to download a copy of the operating system using this link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery it says to contact the computer manufacturer.  I contacted MicroCenter and they told me that they do not have an installation disc replacement.  "No, the store is only allowed to sell records of windows with codes for them.

So what am I supposed to do?  I need to reinstall windows, but I don't think that I should spend another $100 + on a copy of the disk with the additional product key when I already have a licensed copy valid and am put it back on the same exact hardware.

    Thank you

Sites like those who sell the disc should not do that.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

  • Need to create an installation media for Windows 8 (not 8.1)

I recently had need to reinstall Windows 8.1 due to a crash problem. I am now stuck because of the key, I bought and that a Microsoft tech I had a chat session with said use the button install Windows 8 on the following page:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

Well, it doesn't work and think that I have no internet connection then further down the same page is a link to create the installation media if you get this message but isn't only for 8.1 8. My key does not work on a clean install of Windows 8.1, which I already have a DVD. When I came across this problem, a comment I found said to use a generic key because the installation will not continue. Well, it worked, but when I tried to activate Windows with my purchased key, he acknowledged, because apparently my installation media was just 8.1 and not Pro that I bought. I asked the tech if I could use the web page above to reinstall Windows again and he said yes, but make sure you use Windows 8.

I saw the link above referenced in many places on this forum for people who want to install 8 don't not 8.1, but it leads to the same place, and when you launch mediacreationtool.exe, there are only options for 8.1.

I've been going round in circles on links to Microsoft, but the creation of the only available media seems to be to 8.1. Where can I download the installation for Windows 8 only media?

It shows how to use a WIndows 8 key to activate a Windows Installer Clean 8.1 in stage 4 information box in the blue link.

  • Is it possible to create installation media for windows 8.1 update from version of Windows 8

    Hello

I updated my windows 8 for windows 8.1 but after that, I don't know how to make an installation media for it, since I did not have a product key for Windows 8.1

How to make an installation media for my windows 8.1 without product key?

Note: There is no ISO for Windows 8.1. However, if you purchase a product key for Windows 8.1, you can create the installation media.

    Here is the link.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

  • Can I create the installation media for Windows 8 operating system Windows 8?

I encountered some problems with the installation of the Windows 8 client that I expect to be too long to attempt to repair. I suggested to the client that the operating system will simply be reinstalled. The customer has no recovery media. I have not found any recovery partition. I found the instructions at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only to create the installation media, but it takes that I create the media from the computer on which I wish to install Windows 8. This computer came with Windows preloaded 8 factory.

So I can use this computer to create the installation media, and then reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows 8?

There is no method to create the installation media (the original installation media does not exist).  The computer maker several times will include a program to help create your own recovery media, but which varies from one company to the other.  You could contact them to ask if you don't see the program, or they can also send you a copy (Dell sent me a free CD by fed - ex overnight when I asked for one for a Dell Latitude Laptop - laptop I has not yet bought them even!)
