Envy 15-j013sr port msata as bootable

Relative to:

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/envy-15-j013sr-mSATA-port/m-p/3735654

In the previous question, I asked about the existence of the port msata in envy 15-j013sr. It exists.

Now my question is: if I put SSDS msata port, can I use it as a boot device?

  • Port mSATA Satellite P50 - A - 13 M?

I can't find the answer if my Toshiba Satellite P50 - A - 13 M supports the mSATA disks (if it has port mSATA)?
    Maybe someone knows?

    Thnx.

This info is not available on the specifications page, but I think that this machine is not additional SSD to improve startup performance (fast start). So I guess there is no available additional mSATA ports.

    Why do you need it?

    Hello.

I think to upgrade my laptop HP 15 - p112ne. I want to buy SSDS. So my first question is, if this model has msata port available on the motherboard. And the second question is, why I did not in the BIOS SATA mode selection? Because then I would switch to AHCI mode.

  • HP envy m6-1125dx: ssd msata on HP ENVY M6-1125DX

Hi HP! I am a customer who uses an Hp product, have a laptop model HP ENVY M6-1125dx. I asked about this hardware upgrade thing. My problem is that I see a mini PCI - Ex right next to my Wifi card slot, so I take a look at the manual and his told me that my laptop can be upgraded to a 32 GB MSATA SSD (cause is using my laptop intel i5 - 3210 m chip). I would like to ask if I may or may not be upgraded more than 32 GB ssd, what the textbook says. Ex: I want to upgrade to ssd 128 GB msata. Is this possible? And what would happen if I switch to ssd 128 GB msata through mini PCI - Ex. thank you!

The 32 GB mSATA ssd is intended to be used by the software Intel IRST.

You can add a higher capacity SSDS mSATA and use it as storage or even boot into an operating system with him. If you do this, do not use the Intel IRST software because it will use part of the SSD for the cache and the rest will not be usable.

  • convert bootable discs made by my TouchSmart from HP ENVY 15 - j152nr portable for USB bootable

Hello. I have a HP touchsmart, envy 15, and I am trying to restore the computer to factory default. About 6 months ago the computer said I could create a boot disk and use it to restore my computer to factory and after I did the boot disk, I can remove the recovery partition as it will be stored on the disk. So I moved forward and make the drive (it turns out be 4 discs) and the computer deleted the partition. Now I am here using factory restore disks, however, my optical drive is not detected when the bios is starting. For this reason, I need to run these 4 discs in a bootable USB drive. I looked everywhere and there are different ways to transform 1 usb drive, but not 4. Can someone help me? I would really appreciate it.

    -Rieu

    Hi @Rieu ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read on your computer laptop 15-j152nr of HP ENVY TouchSmart on need help creating a recovery image on floppies. HP recovery software allows you to perform only a backup recovery. To determine what options are available to create that not all CD/DVD media recovery is able to create recovery discs, click Start, click all programs, and then click Recovery Manager. Here is a document on the creation of recovery disks.

If all else fails, then contact HP support and order the recovery disks. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 for all other regions, click here .

    Hope this helps you.

    Thank you.

  • HP ENVY 15-j017cl and mSATA

    Hi all

I want to change my stuff to default material on my lap. Now I have 750 GB HARD disk, but want to add mSATA in car (I saw the free slot on the motherboard). Could not find information in the documentation.

Is it possible to add for example 180/240 GB mSATA, then install Windows on it and use as main startup (as a reader C) disk and use the disk standard HARD as second drive with the second partition (such D & E)?

    Best

    TJK

    Hello KoprowskiT,

I understand you have questions about adding a via mSATA SSD in your laptop.

An important note is that the recovery media you will need to install Windows won't Boot MGR for the SSD. To do what you ask correctly you will need a copy of Windows.

If you have that, after you install your SSD (see here: Maintenance and Service of Guide) Insert the Windows installation disc and choose the custom installation option. This will allow you to install Windows on the SSD drive and recreate the Boot MGR. Once you have done this, you can format the HARD drive and use it for storage. I do not recommend formatting the HARD drive during installation and will confirm the SSD working first.

In some cases, you can install Windows on the SSD with the recovery media, but you need to keep Windows on the HARD drive for access to the boot of MGR. The cleanest way to do would be to back up your important information before installing the SSD and run a system restore to minimize the space used on the disk. Then partition the drive using Windows disk management to create a new disk for storage. Once you have done this, use the Recovery Manager to retrieve windows on the SSD.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more information or more detailed explanations.

  • Envy TouchSmart m6-k125dx: envy Touchsmart m6-k125dx msata support

I am wanting to install a 250 gb msata 200 mx crucial SSD but cannot know if this laptop supports an msata disc or not. I removed the bottom plate and I see an msata slot, but am not sure which will support the slot and the bios. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See page 35. This model was sold with a mechanical hard drive a WSSD 24 concert as Accelerator Intel Rapid Storage or only with a hard drive of the WSSD 128 gigabytes. If there is a regular SATA in place, you cannot start the mssd, but you can start the mssd, if it's the only drive.

You could install the MSSD you chose, but it needs to be the only drive to the laptop to be used as boot drive. It also requires the oldest type of WSSD not type m2. There is no size limit practical other than what you can afford.

  • HP Envy j123tx: ssd as boot drive msata

    Hello

    My specs are:

    Core i5 - 4200 m

    NVIDIA gt 740 m

    4 GB + 8 GB ram ddr3L

    750 GB SATA HDD

I have a free msata SSD slot and I want to put in a 128 GB msata SSD and use it as my main boot drive and keep the 750 GB for all my files. My laptop will support this?

    Thank you

Unfortunately when they Redid the Forum there is a month old sticky messages were lost. Let me go back and see if I can find it. Don't get your hopes for this as a solution. It is very complicated to implement and very fragile. Windows updates often break for people who have got it to work.

I found an old post which has a link to the instructions:

  • Envy 15-j051sa mSata SSD Cache TS

Envy TS 15-j051sa mSata SSD Cache for the 1 TB 5400 HGST HTS541010A9E680.

The manual States "Support for the SSD drive 24-GB mSATA (not available on computer models equipped with system - 16834 memory or 12288-Mo)". As I have all the conditions, Intel processor, 8 GB of ram, the question is can I just install it and everything works as if by magic?

Or what I need to do anything about it, or to perform any installation? I noticed Intel RST is running and that the system is working normally.

Any help or experience would be helpful (apart from the disk of 1 TB of pit and replace it with a large SSD!).

    Thank you.

OK, for someone else to end up here

    It worked for me:

    • Bought a 24 GB SSD mSata off eBay (very cheap).
    • Make sure that it is the type of partition MBR (I used an external box with Mini PCI-E to SATA 22Pin mSATA).
    • Make sure that the Intel Rapid Start technology is disabled in the Bios. (Appears only if the mSata is installed).
    • Windows 8 (.1) boot in SafeMode (this is where I'm wrong).
    • Run the Intel Rapid Storage Technology-> Performance-> activate acceleration.
    • Reset (it works!)
    • Activate the technology Intel Rapid boot in the BIOS (I don't know if it improves things, seems to work OK without him)

A start power button to start screen for ready office is 17-18 seconds. Note that I have several services running SQL 2008 R2 Server and all the HP utilities installed as new.

  • Acer Aspire V5 - 573G mSATA-port

Thinking about buying the new model of the Acer V5, V5 - 573 G-54218G1Takk and I would like to know if it has a free port mSATA as last year's model?

In fact, managed to find someone on the forum who has the same model and it confirmed before my purchase. And now I can confirm myself that new models Aspire V5 - 573G with i5-i7/4210U-4510U and Nvidia GTX850M has indeed a mSATA location. My model did not have an mSATA SSD pre-installed, and the port still works.
