Envy 17 2180el can I add a second hard drive, and then choose bios/boot of the system with which to start?

in the case give me the link of a hard disk of type to add

Hello

While you can certainly add another HARD drive in the Bay of secondary drive (you must also support and the connection cable) you can't boot from it - only in the Bay of primary HARD drive is bootable.

Kind regards

I suppose that space is available, but I would like to know whether the connector is here & all
I could just open the case and plug it in.

    Thank you

In the document s user manuals I have not found something on HD upgrade so I m really don't know if this will be possible.
Anyway, as Jeka wrote, remove the HARD drive cover and check if there is place for second HARD drive and also necessary SATA connector.

I have older 300 x and there is room for two drives.

  • Satellite A200-1 s 5 - can I use a second HARD drive and RAID?

    Hi all

Toshiba Satellite A200-1 s 5 is eligible to add a second hard drive? It has RAID controller as much I know - it might help?

    Thank you
    Denis

If you have a SATA connector in the second HARD drive Bay, you can use a second HDD. Check it!
Then you can buy each disc HARD what you want with SATA port.

The Satellite A200 doesn't have a RAID controller.

  • Can I add a second hard drive to an ATC-605-UB11?

I'm about to buy this model and I would like to add a second drive, keep the current hard drive and the optical drive.  Is this possible?  Can I buy additional cables?  The new drive will fit in the chassis, or will I need a mounting hardware?

Some posts have mentioned black and white SATA connectors.  What is the difference?

Yes, you can add an extra HDD or SSD.  Two white sata data ports are SATA 3 (6Gbits/s) and the black sata data port is SATA 2 (3 Gbps).

I would recommend that you purchase an extension to sata power cable:

    http://www.Amazon.com/GP/product/B008ZB50SS?PSC=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00

And a SATA data cable (you don't need a 90 a degree as I - one straight, one would work better):

    http://www.Amazon.com/GP/product/B00552PGC0/ref=s9_topr_hd_bw_g147_i6?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=...

4 holes screws for the existing 3.5 inch HDD mounting are obviously designed for a disk 3,5 '' HARD.

The 4 screw holes for the second disc unit you want to add editing are for one SSD 2.5-inch or 2.5 inch HDD.

I bought a 2.5 inches for support adapter 3.5 inches because I don't have enough close attention in time to realize that the holes line up perfectly for one SSD 2.5.  If you do not need any kind of support if you add a 2.5 SSD ".  Screw you just good to.

BX100 MLC SSD Crucial that I bought and recommended even if any 2.5-inch SSD should work fine even if I do not recommend the BX200 TLC Crucial are:

    http://www.Amazon.com/GP/product/B00RQA6TEI?PSC=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00

I also bought this one to another computer and use as a boot drive for OS.  Works well when you have a more secondary HARD disk.  The price is right, but it's a little on the slow side from a point of view writing SSD.  Boot times are fast.

Here is an example of a 2.5 inch HDD (hard drive) that I * guess * lined up with available screw holes:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=9SIA2W02KN0922

Just keep in mind that the HARD drive that came with it is a 3.5-inch HARD drive.

Arrows in the photo below represent the locations of the holes 4 screws for the second disc.  (ignore that I have only two screws )

Edit: because the reader of DVD (ODD) is plugged into a SATA 3 white port, you'll want to move it to the available data black SATA port and then use the newly vacant SATA port white for your new SSD or HDD.

Yes, you can easily attached an external hard drive via USB 3.0

A better option would be to replace your drive existing optical and DVD player with a hard drive CaddyBay.

  • Can I install Windows 7 on an external hard drive and then put it back in the computer as a hard drive internal?

Here's the situation, I reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop when it all of a sudden to stop. Now he cannot start Windows and only shows the Startup Repair tool. IM thinking if I can get my hard drive and put it in a hard drive enclosure and install windows in it as a hard drive external. And after installation, I will put the normal back on my laptop as a hard drive. Will this work?

Furthermore, I can't boot any disk installation because the built-in DVD player does not work, also I can not change startup option because I can't access the BIOS, there the password and I do not know. Please someone help! :( Thank you!

As a general rule, Microsoft allows not 'officially' most versions of Windows (9 x--> 7) to boot from an external hard drive.  However, there could be an exception to this rule.  eSATA pregnant use signals to 'SATA' HDD on an "external" port

  • How can I add a second hard drive to a p6-2378

    HP Pt-2378 Windows 8

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion p6-2378. According to specifications, your computer has room for a disk 3,5 '' hard and a 5.25 CD/DVD drive. It is not a space in your computer for a second drive.

Not in the way you think. There is only a single hard drive 2.5 inch Bay, unlike the similarly named 17 t envy which has two slots for drives.

  • Can satellite A300 - 15 k (PSAJ4E) - I add a second HARD drive?

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite A300 - 15 k (PSAJ4E) and my question is, can I add second HARD drive? Now, I have a HARD inside drive, Hitachi 250 GB, 5400 RPM. is there a place for the second HARD drive?

I want to buy some 2.5 in 7200 RPM, thx in advance.

    Hello

Check the bottom of the unit.
There should be a second HARD drive Bay.
If the second HARD drive bay contains the pins of the connector HDD/then you could add a second HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
If the connector is not available, then the second HDD is not possible.

    See you soon

  • Add a second hard drive?

My old XP sp2 Gateway 504 GR pc died recently, and I moved to a Compaq Presario SR5013WM with Vista Home Basic.  However, the hard drive on this machine is just too small for my needs, so I wonder if I can take my old gateway hard drive and install it as a secondary/slave on this pc drive.  The gateway hard drive is a: 200 GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA hard drive or a: Seagate 200 GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive (the gateway support site, has linked the two, but I didn't bring the hard drive to determine just what we're here).

Any advice on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I did something similar to this only with different HD MFG. The thing I learned was to gather information before continuing. After you open the case you may have some information about how to add the disk in question and a bad time to look for manuals that the world exists only online.

I added a WD 40 GB and going on the Western Digital web site beforehand, I found a world of help articles to help me to accomplish the task. I don't know if your disc Segate had a manual or not, but the Web Site is likely to be. They can help you with all of the specifications that may be requested of you in setting mode. I recommend going to the Western Digital Web site anyway because they have a very good article on how to get Windows to recognize your drive which helps you add any type of player. For example, I learned that there is another Manager besides than Device Manager. They tell you how to access the site. The Manager allowed me to perform a diagnostic test on my hard drive which takes a while depending on the size, and then format the disk and guess what? Windows was abe to the list of my new drive.

  • I want to add a second hard drive for my Pavilion Elite HPE 410f. Recommendations?

I want to add a second hard drive for my Pavilion Elite HPE 410f. Recommendations?  Somewhere in the 320 to 500 GB range and I want a quick unit because it will be used for rendering videos.    Thank you for your response.

    Hello

How fast is fast is the real question.

Have you looked at hybrid drives OCZ? Expensive but probably the fastest option.

Seagate also made a hybrid hard drive.  Good price... You will need a 3.5 "to 2.5" support if the player does not support.  If you install the drive in an empty optical Bay then you will need a 5.25 "to 2.5" support.

Your other choice is 7 200 or 10 000 rpm traditional hard drives.

Another option would be to add a PCI sata and two external hard dirves configured in RAID 0.

It can be larger than 32 GB, but it is not the boot drive and its only real function is as a cache of acceleration for the main mechanical hard drive, for which really impossible to use something bigger.
