Envy 17 3D to SSD update

I have an Envy 17 3D, and I wanted to upgrade to an SSD Boot drive to speed up things and eek out a little more autonomy. I got a 3 OCZ Agility 120 GB SSD, I was able to run through the recovery DVDs, I created to install Windows 7, but on reboot I now get a "PXE - E61 media test failure" and it does not start. When it is installed as the 2nd player, I see the player very well, including the Windows files.

I've updated to the latest Firmware, 2.15, same problem. Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

For memory, the start of the recovery of the DVD I had created to enter recovery mode, I was able to run the Boot recovery tools (BootSect.exe) to resolve the startup problem, I am now running on my SSD.

Unfortunately, I didn't connect with care what finally fixed command flag, but I don't know that it took more than just fix the MBR.

Hello people I'm planing to buy this beautiful model, it has a nice card but lacks in the part of the HARD drive.
It comes with 12 GB of RAM. Now, I am planning to buy an mSATA SSD of 24 GB or more and put it in the slot mSATA for thing Intel Rapid Storage for max etc. I saw him really increase the speed of the HARD drive performance upward loading times, etc. But I saw somewhere that it cannot work with 12 GB of RAM on this model? Is it true or not? Thanks for helping me!

You don't find it in the BIOS, but if you use Magic Jelly Bean you can extract a validated/activated copy running on the computer. You must never post again. If you install from a Windows OEM 8 DVD the key Code will be just placed in the operating system and magically valid and active automatically. You will also need a USB Intel Rapid Storage driver to power the operating system during installation as storage is defined as a matrix RAID if a normal hard drive and a GSU are both present.

    Hello

Yes. No difference between Intel & AMD processor. You can replace the HARD drive existing DSS to get better performance.

    Hi all

I bought the HP Envy 15-k153nr. I read somewhere that he had free internal interface of m2, I want to install the SSD in this interface. But I do not know the length of the card SSD, it can adapt. Can I install 80 mm long SSD? I can't find this information on the HP site. I hope someone knows the answer.

    With respect,

    Hello

It has a slot for 2280 m2 SSD, which means you can use 80 mm long.

  • HP Envy 17-j053 SSD update

    Hi all

As I bought a HP Envy 17-j053 laptop from Currys/PC World (UK) and I know that my laptop has a second hard drive Bay. I think that the performance of my laptop are strongly a bottleneck of slow hard disk 5400 RPM HP put in it, so I looked in the addition of an SSD.

I found the cable and box rubber on Amazon for a total tear of £60 and I found the SSD that I want to install (840 Pro 256 GB Samsung).

Question is the laptop won't work with the SSD in HDD1 (as the boot drive (windows 8.1 & programs)) and the 1 TB in HDD2 as a data disc?

I'm sorry I missed it. It won't cause any problems. I have a very similar model... 17 t-j029nr envy and have used it with a SSD in primary and secondary and no problem at all. In my humble opinion, it's how it should be implemented... SSD in the main housing and the big slow spinner only for storage.

  • Envy 17 3D primary HDD to SSD update

I was wondering the steps I need to take in order to upgrade my current 640GO 7200 HARD for one SSD drive. I read this thread on compatibility, so I'm aware of some issues, I might.
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/hardware-upgrades-replacements/envy-17-SSD-compatibility/TD-p/1251555

I have a 3D Envy 17, I bought around this time last year so its probably an Envy 17-1000 - series 17-1099.  It came with w7 home preinstalled on a 640GO HDD 7200.  I want to put a SSD in the main location and use the 640 current in the secondary location.  I caddy HARD drive for secondary housing already I just need to know what are the steps I have to take for the SSD installs successfully.

Here are some questions I have:

    1. I know that envy is sata2 but most SSDS are sata3, sata3 SSD would be compatible with my desire?
    2. Use you the backup disc made from the 640 GB HARD drive and install it on the SSD or I'd get a new copy of w7 to install?
    3. If using a new copy of w7 pro would be the system, the video card drivers and 3d pose a problem since it is is not version of w7 HP?
    4. When the SSD is finally installed I can just pop my 640 in the secondary drive slot and pull the personal folders, and then format it or I don't get the personal files of beforhand?

    Hello

    Q1: Yes it is compatible.

Q2: I suggest to create a reduced recovery dvd in the HP Recovery Manager. Solid discs are not as large as the original hard drive and it can lead to problems during the restoration of the system on an ssd.

Q3: An OEM of Windows disk can be used to perform a new installation and download the necessary drivers from HP.

Q4: Yes, just install the hard drive in the Bay secondary and working as a slave drive so save all the data you need and then reformat...

RAM: You can spend in total 16 GB MAX, put two 8 GB DDR3L PC3L-12800 1600 MHz SO-DIMM SDRAM into the two slots. I wouldn't do this if I'm going to upgrade SSD and it's more than enough unless you're going for heavy fabrics intensive programming & resource.

SSD: Yes, you can replace SSD HARD drive in the main Bay and make the boot drive SSD SSD HARD drive cloning. If your model has two hard drive Bay, you can move the HARD disk to secondary Bay - to buy the kit of additional hard drive for this property in the Bay.

  • ENVY 14-k124TX: SSD update for more storage (ENVY 14 k)

    Hello

I have a 14-k124TX currently Envy and you want to upgrade the disk SSD 128 GB to 500 GB.

The vehicle currently has a samsung mzmtd 128 and I want to use a Samsung 850 EVO series. I opened my laptop and I'm confident on the evolution of Physics in the. I meausred the exsisting SSD and it corresponds exactly with the specifications of the new, so I'm also confident it will fit.

    I'm after some advice on

    (A) the computer will be able to use the SSD physcally (I'm sure it would but I better check)

    (B) what is the best way to transfer the operating system and all my personal files and programs, I would also be able to buy an MSATA USB3 case if necessary.

Thank you in advance, all the tips

The transfer will be quick and painless. Let the original SSD in place during execution of the migration and Exchange later in the new Samsung EVO 850.

  • Envy of HP DV6 - 7215TX updated 1 TB HARD drive up to 1 TB SSD?

    Hello

I just wanted to confirm that with the model DV6-7215TX can upgrade its SSD HARD drive? This model has the 32 GB SSD for fast start, then 1 TB HDD. If I simply clone the disk for one SSD same size. Then everything just move them, that's going to work? Or is there a more complex configuration for the raid working between SSD/SSD instead of SSD/HDD?

    Thanks for your time!

    See you soon

    Murdoch

No doubt an SSD isn't the thing to have and the problem you describe is exactly what would be improved by an SSD... long time linear file transfer. The existing drive to the WSSD is an obstacle, however. The WSSD and the SATA drive is in a RAID array. The BIOS is set to RAID to allow that, and you have no control over the parameter disable RAID in BIOS. If you really want to install a SSD I go into the Intel Rapid Storage console and disable acceleration by the mSATA reader. I have then clone the SATA drive to the SSD drive and replace the former with the latter.

  • HP ENVY 15t Quad Win 7 - update of hard disk of 1 TB HARD 1 TB drive HARD + 250 GB SSD drive

    Hello world

I recently bought a HP ENVY 15 laptop Quad t on the online store of HP with the following specifications (list only pertinent information):

    • Windows 7 Professional 64

It's exactly what I'm saying. The WSSD is not directly bootable. You must put a configuration of bootloader on the 1 TB drive main then it starts booting it resets and then the initialization of the WSSD. The slot of the WSSD in this series laptop is designed to hold a much smaller WSSD "acceleration" that works with the main hard drive.

    1. What are the dimenstions of the hard drive in my laptop, because I can't find no internet. or how to test compatibility.

I decided to purchase this ssd Sandisk (link below)

    2. other information that must be considered before purchising article, so I don't want to throw away money.

    Thanks for the attention

Access to the hard drive on your model is very difficult and potentially void the warranty. See page 62 of the manual here:

The SSD that you selected is the correct size and form factor and would work, but there is the problem of installation and software migration and security. Post back if you need help most.

  • activate the AHCI mode on Envy Dv7 - 7398ca with SSD

    Year old i7 envy Dv7 - 7398ca notebook with SSD Samsung 840 Pro x 256.  Windows 8.1

I've updated to the SSD shortly after I purchsed the laptop.

No problem except the Samsung SSD Wizard software keeps tagging me as AHCI mode is disabled and must be enabled and I do not see it in the BIOS.

Or I see anything that relates in the device as IDE Manager or other.

It seems that the SSD is optimizing not itself based on the fact that it considers that AHCI is disabled.

I apologize for the issue being this topic seems to be beaten to death over time, but I do not see what relates to this model or similar.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

The system is set to ahci or RAID mode. You can tell that by opening the Device Manager and look at the storage controllers. Anyway it is optimized for SSDS and TRIM is activated. You can simply remove the program from Samsung and rest assured that your SSD is optimized.

  • HP envy 20: someone had problems updating their envy of hp with Windows Windows 8 to 10?

Someone had hurt update to Windows 10 of Windows 8? I bought my hp envy 20 while pc ome in 2013 and hp said that it is fairly new to encourage the transition I've heard that some of the older ones are not. But I keep if with errors when my computor wants to make updates and he finally gave me the unfortunate blue screen, then finally black screen and would not start. I'm trying to understand why he did it so that I can avoid or help the situation, I am the future when I get it back of fixed neimg. Any thoughts??

    Greetings,

Someone is probably going to stomp on my answer.

Stick with the HP operating system factory if you can deal with that.

HP Envy 20 is not good product number. So I can't review the instructions of your PC.

I'm guessing that HP does not Win 10 driver support.

Microsoft is, of course, drop the ball on the provision of the correct drivers for your PC.

So spend you to Win 10 successfully but a lousy update your PC?

It might be a bad driver update or a cumulative update.

You can stop to win 10of the driver updates, but you cannot stop the other updates.

The grass is not always greener on the other side.
