Envy of HP dv7-j020: Fingerprint reader no longer works

Fingerprint reader has stopped working. I checked for new drivers, and he says he is fully updated. Not sure why it just stopped.

Hi @JoMama527.

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I've read about you are having problems with the fingerprint reader and HP Notebook. Here is a link to software to troubleshoot a fingerprint reader. You can start with a reboot of the laptop.

The software might have to uninstall.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

My fingerprint reader has stopped working.  It is a validity sensors (WBF) (PID = 0018). It worked once I updated to Windows 10 but has stopped now. I opened the Device Manager, the device was hidden, and when I tried to update the drivers of the update of the driver indicates that all the drivers are current, this is checked when I open the 'Détails' tab and go to the section selected user driver installed (). I then checked the "General tab" which had the following message now, "this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45); To resolve this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. "Then I checked under"location information"that are listed as port #0003. Hub_ #0001. Additinally, verifying the Universal Serial Bus controllers it lists a device with the following message, "unknown USB Device (device descriptor request Failed)."  Under details, I noticed the following: location information is port #0003. • Fingerprint reader no longer work after suspend P70 - W10

I have a P70 with Windows 10. After I suspend, when I wake up my system, fingerprint reader has stoped working.

    Hi Paubach,

Try the latest driver touch fingerprint. The version of the driver ID is "5.01.307.26(driver jour 10/05/2016)". " It already exists in the Windows Update server.

You can get it by the following steps: open Device Manager > biometric devices > Synaptics WBDI (its PID is 0090) > right click, and select "update driver software...". ' > choose 'automatically search for... ". ", then Windows installs the driver 5.01.307.26 for you.

  • Fingerprint reader no longer works on dv7 - 7373ca Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

    Hello

I'm a dv7 - 7373ca and I installed 64-bit Windows from 8.1 to this topic. I can't seem to be able to operate the fingerprint reader. Before I formatted the computer, he had Windows 8 64 bit on it and the fingerprint reader worked perfectly.

I installed the driver fingerprint sensor fingerprint validity provided here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-109892-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en... (i.e. sp58900)

It doesn't seem to be a HP SimplePass software available for download in the on the support section of this model for Windows 8.1. So I have downlaoded the more recent for the same model but for Windows 8. (i.e. sp63224)

Even if HP SimplePass software opens and, in my view, there is a problem with the drivers because the light next to the fingerprint reader does not illuminate and HP SimplePass says he has encountered a problem.

Could you please help me solve my problem?

    Thank you very much

    Alex

Well, I'm done. I installed all the other drivers, Windows Update and installed my programs. Everything works perfectly. I don't know what the problem was after my first installation of Windows 8.1. The only thing I did different in the second installation was the order in which I installed everything. Install the fingerprint sensor driver validity above all the rest, it seems to have solved the problem. That's what I would do if someone has the same problem. Install the drivers before the Windows Update.

Thank you for your time and help,

    Alex

  • Windows 8 fingerprint reader no longer works (need to Flash the BIOS to fix)

I have a DV6-7014nr bought around September of 2012.  I have upgraded to WIndows 8 when it first came out.  I had no problem with the reader of fingerprints on Windows 7, but do not use for a long time.

As the subject says.  I can run it for a few weeks (on Windows 8), and the fingerprint reader stops working.  None of the biometric devices are listed in the Device Manager.  If I try to load the driver, it does nothing, as if the player is simply not there the responsibility of the driver closes just (with no message).

Peripheral Biometirc in the Panel control says there is no biometric device found and simplepass opens without the fingerprint reader recognized.

The only thing that solves this is my BIOS which comes Insyde to re-flashing. It is noted in the setup of the BIOS relating to biometric devices.  I have just discovred that BIOS update solves a problem because there was an update that I applied.  Have to reapply the update of the BIOS to fix this seems excessive to us.

    Added March 29, 2013:

I just re-applied the BIOS two days ago and already the figerprint teader plug working again.  I tried a hard reset (because I saw that as a solution previously, and it is easier and faster to re-flashing the BIOS).  Who has shut down, remove the battery, now the power for 30 seconds button, boot the system without the battery.  He has not fixed the problem and I can't even understand why the fingerprint reader keeps disabling.  A re-BIOS flash solves the problem, it seems that the problem must be with the BIOS software.  Oh I also had turned off the "Allow windows to turn off the device to save power" for the biometric device before he went kaput.  It doesn't stop of is suckier.

There must be a better way.

    Thank you

    Hello cjwh888,

  • DV7-4073nr - fingerprint reader does not work after the upgrade to HP Support Assistant

    Hello

I have a problem right now. The HP support assistant suggested that I had to upgrade the software of fingerprints to be upgraded and I did it without delay. Restart, the drive does not work. Windows 7 says it's a bad data. no password HP does. What should I do?

Turn the computer off, and then once you turn on, keep the F8 key several times to load the "Windows Advanced startup options" screen. In this screen either select mode safety/Safe mode with networking and log in to your user account by entering the password manually.

Once that is done, do a restore of the system through the control panel and restore your computer to an earlier date, whenever it was working fine. Once the restore process is done, change the settings for HP Support Assistant auto do not install updates

I wonder if your system is an upgrade (Windows 8 for Windows 8.1); There is no a SimplePass program listed for the OS Windows 8.1.  Upgrades can be tricky - SimplePass runs very well on a system upgrade, and then - poof!  Not-so-good.  IF your OS is an upgrade, the following may or may not be as useful - however, we invite you to take a look at the following and I hope it helps.

Open the file > click Download > click 'open in Adobe Reader.

    • The 'official' document HP link is to Page 2 - take a look at this.
    • Jump to the bottom of Page 10 (updated) - follow the procedure in the order of Hard Reset

Reminder: stay calm: there is a device reset, it will not erase your computer.

    • If no joy, see Page 5: procedure - updated / (install HP SimplePass Re)

Of course, you are welcome to read the entire document.  Understand that this is NOT a document of HP; It is not written in a particular format or order - it's more a collection to a specification.  The smile.

  • Fingerprint reader has stopped working after update vV1.0.3.49

I recently downloaded from Toshiba and installed Fingerprint Utility V1.0.3.49 (tc00407400c.exe) and since my fingerprint reader has stopped working.
The software opens but usually recognizes my fingerprints and can not connect any other way.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and same result.

Device Manager says device works ok.

May I ask what model phone you have and what system do you use?

Probably, you need to delete stored fingerprints and after restarting again, you should try to register new fingerprints using the software update of fingerprints.

    Have you tried that?

I have a new machine.  The fingerprint reader does not work, no light, no response.  I uninstalled the device in device manager, rebooted and reinstalled, still no response.

Has sought to pass Simple software but could not find it.

Where should I go from here?

    Hey!

Did you uninstall the driver of the fingerprint in before Device Manager?

To use the download I you provided, you will need to uninstall the driver again.

    • Open the Device Manager
    • Search for biometric devices
    • Under biometric devices, look for the device (called Validity Sensor sensor AuthenTec)
    • Right-click on the fingerprint sensor
    • Click on uninstall
    • Restart your computer.

Here's a download for the fingerprint reader. This download sp71729.exe might work for you.

"Where you go, there you are."

    Hi Mikey,

Looks like you're running the Digital Persona of SimplePass flavor.

Two things to consider / try, in order.

If the reset works, you don't have to reinstall the driver...

    • Hard reset
    • Reinstall the driver

    Hard Reset:

Sometimes, all you need to do is the computer suddenly.  This method works for a variety of connection and "glued" program issues.

    • Disconnect all the external devices first.
    • Remove the AC power and battery
    • Press and hold the power button while in the minus 30 seconds
    • Reinstall the power supply for the first start only * see Note
    • Power on - connect
    • Next time you shut down the system, replace the battery.

    * Note: You can ignore the little battery aside.  If you wish, replace the battery the first time and do it with her.

The pilot, from your Internet site:

Validity fingerprint sensor Driver sp52354 V2.1.0.2

    • Install the validity sensor Driver installation package: it if called sp*.exe - the package will be most likely located in the downloads folder.  If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click on ' to install it, otherwise just right-click, select"Run as Administrator"and install.

    I hope this helps!

  • on dv6 fingerprint reader has stopped working after installing Norton 2012

Fingerprint reader has stopped working after installing Norton Internet Security 2012 on both of my notebooks from HP.

    Product name: HP Pavilion dv6

    Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit

Error message in Device Manager under biometric devices in Device Manager displays an exclamation mark beside validity sensors (WBF) (PID = 0018). The following message is under the general tab: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) ».

Driver is present and seems to be up-to-date.

    Appreciate your help.

I have finally isolated the problem of my software lack of HP dv6 fingerprint reader. I think Norton Removal Tool, available online at www.symentec.com/nrt, was the reason. I am sure this conclusion because the exact same problem occurred after I installed Norton Internet Security 2012 on laptop HP same as my wife. I tried, in vain, to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the biometric fingerprint device provided by Validity Sensors, Inc.

After spending a day and a half to try to "solve" the problem, I decided to restore my system and go back to the prior agreement of the point of the installation of Norton. Thank you HP to make this process quick and painless. Don't forget that if you installed anything after the restore point, it will have to be reinstalled.

Fortunately, there's a less intrusive on CD of Norton removal tool. This utility uninstalls an older version of Norton you are requested to restart and then installs the latest NIS. It is a method of removal safer that wide brush offered by the Norton Online link, which wipes everything remotely suspect.

After reinstalling Norton Internet Security 2012 from the CD, everything works as it should, including the fingerprint reader.
