  • How can I disable the caps lock indicator/notification? -Lenovo Ideapad y700

Whenever I have press NumLock or CapsLock Maj, a useless and annoying indicator appears. I was extremely frustrated with this indicator, it is often close me out programs in full screen (videos and especially games) just to tell me that I pressed the caps lock button. If possible, I'd love to permanently disable these indicators/notification for caps and numlock.

    The online instructions indicate:

    1. Click Search, and then type Control Panel , and then click the appropriate search results.
    2. Click the icon to display , and then click change display settings on the left panel.
    3. Click on the Advanced settings, and then click the display tab.
Note: ThinkPad is displayed on the screen tab, should install the Hotkey driver.
    4. Check enable on-screen display.
    5. Under the "NumLock and CapsLock indicator settings" section, look for 'while the digital lock or caps lock is on"section, choose the option 'display the indicator for a few seconds'.
    6. Click apply, and then click OKand click OK to close the window.

I did not tab display on the screen, and I don't know what is the pilot "Hotkey". I have tried to download a driver related to display the parameters of the Lenovo download page, but that generated an error message. One of my friends suggested that the way to remove this could be through the registry editor, but I am not convinced that I could take without seriously damaging the software in some way.

Please, if anyone has solutions, suggestions or advice, I would appreciate you sharing! Thank you for reading.

    Hello

Uninstall the LenovoUtility. That will remove the notifications.

  • Unknown icon on desktop

A head of white arrow with the letter 'A' inside surrounded by a gray background is displayed in the bottom right of my office and is always at the top.  What is it, and can get rid of him?  Thank you.

Thank you. It was very helpful and worked for me.

I had the same icon and couldn't get rid of him so far.

For those who have XP, here were the steps I did to solve this problem.

Control Panel > display > (tab) settings > advanced (button) > On Screen Display (tab)

On the screen, search for the topic "settings for NumLock and CapsLock indicator."

Under that you will see radio buttons in option.

Make sure that NUMLOCK and caps lock shift the TOP option button is selected.

for example 'display the indicator for a few seconds", rather than"always display the indicator on the screen.

    Thanks heaps

  • CAPS LOCK FREEZES MAC MACOS SIERRA

I HAVE TO WRITE IN CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM IN MAC OS SIERRA.

SINCE THE INSTALLATION OF MACOS SIERRA YESTERDAY, I HAD STRANGE PROBLEMS WITH THE MY BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD SHIFT KEY.

WHEN YOU USE MY MAC YESTERDAY I HAD A FREEZE ON ALL OF THE SYSTEM WHEN YOU TURN ON CAPS LOCK THIS INCLUDES ENTRANCE TO VIDEO PLAYBACK, KEYBOARD AND MOUSE (HE'D CATCH UP AFTER A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE LETTERS YOU ENTERED NOT APPEAR OUT IN THE RIGHT ORDER, SUGGESTING IS NOT ONLY A DISPLAY PROBLEM, BUT A REAL FREEZE) THEN THERE ARE MORE SMALL FREEZES AND BLIPS AS LONG AS CAPSLOCK SHIFT WAS.

TODAY, HOWEVER, I AM HAVING THE OPPOSITE TO HAPPEN. FROST OCCUR WHILE CAPS LOCK IS OFF, WHICH IS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE EMBARRASSING AS ALL LOOKS LIKE I'M YELLING!

THERE SEEMS TO BE HAVING THE CPU SPIKES IN ACTIVITY MONITOR, AND I TRIED TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES.

  • iBook G3 running is not on but shows signs of life...

    Hello

I have experience with Mac repair, but not much with the old Mac PowerPC. I got a G3 iBook for almost nothing in a sale at auction, and when I plug it into a charger, the thin battery charges. I now loaded it so that all the lights on the battery are strong.

When I press the power button, MAJ CAPSLOCK, NumLock and the little light on the flash front for like 1/4 of a second, and then they go off. The machine does two very light clicks. The fan on the computer then starts spinning, and the hard drive (I have replaced). It stays on for a few seconds and then shuts.

On the laptop LCD screen is cracked, so I'm assuming that if she turned on, I wouldn't see much until I replaced it, but there is no edge, no second light (except as ¼) and no POST. I have to check/replace the RAM as well as several other components.

I know this laptop isn't much value, but I would like it to work. If it is the logic board, that are not too expensive either.

    It is a model A1005 of 2002. I think it is 12 ".

    Thanks for any help!

    Luke

There was a problem with the connections of a graphics chip welding in some iBook G3 computers. An iBook would then not properly the start-up procedure, and the screen remains dark (sometimes the question could be diagnosed by a change at the clamping/pressing an external area to the left of the trackpad during the boot sequence). However, it may or may not be of interest in this case (with a damaged LCD screen).

  • M100 - flashing light power supply (ac or battery).

    Hello
I just bought a laptop M100 a few weeks back and it was fine. The other day I was playing with the password Toshiba utility I ran into XP. I put a password on it for I think has the power on function. I then rebooted the machine and now it initializes more.

When I turn it on, the power led (2nd from the left, between the AC-in and battery) lights green as usual for a split second, then flashes orange in a balance on ground. There is no display, no hard disk activity, and it will not power off unless I have the button for 10 seconds. The fan also seems shot at high speed right away, which does not occur normally.

I have tried with and without battery, without hard disk, without RAM or battery cmos. Same problem every time! I can't even start up TOSHIBA start screen.

Someone pleeease help me. I'm at a loss as to what it could be. Also, it seems that no one on the net have reported this problem before.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

More details: the capslock button light does not answer, but not the light of the FN key. By pressing any button on the keyboard results in a beep slightly delayed.

    Hello

Well, firstly the password of Toshiba utility allows you to set two levels of password security user password and supervisor password. This function prevents any unauthorized access to your computer.
    What password do you have?
As far as I know there are two ways to start the computer:
Insert a password token before turning on the computer. The computer will boot normally, without displaying a prompt of password or enter the password manually.

In addition, the second light on the left side is a power indicator. It lights up green when the computer is turned on. If you turn off the computer in recovery mode, this indicator flashes in orange (a second to two seconds) while the computer shuts down.

Well, I put t know why you can boot the unit t, but please also check password settings in the BIOS. Here, you can try to remove this password.

  • Problem with key 'Shift' Lenovo Y530

I bought a Lenovo Y530 recently with Windows Vista 64-bit.

I'm having a problem with the 'Shift' key as they seem to be related to some sort of function hotkey or short cut:

Left Shift-> on a notebook left SHIFT press types "] yt ' and active / turns off the Capslock. He also started a search or find on the desktop

Right shift-> by pressing the right shift key prints «...» MV' on Notepad and done something funny

It is therefore impossible for me to use this laptop. I tried following things so far:

    1. disable the shortcut keys in the Intel Graphics toolbar

    2. all controls 'ease of use '.

It seems that Shift key everything except what it is supposed to do.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Gerard

    Hello

I think that I found a solution to the problem. Although it sounds randomly - but it works for me.

It just open wordpad and begin typing shift with other keys at the same time and randomly - very random and very fast. Hmm and well, it suddenly begins to work properly. It's pretty random and the problem is back, but he always solved with this... well "method" (if you can call it a 'method').

I have not had the problem for a few months now. So, it does not. It is not a hardware problem safe - and nothing to do with the access keys.

    It will be useful.

  • How to replace the keyboard Vaio 15 Flip

If the keyboard on my Flip 15 suddenly stopped working. Market not even work in the BIOS. I tried a coercive power off and battery off pinhole and nothing has helped. The backlight still works and if I press Capslock on a USB keyboard, the green light on the laptop press Capslock becomes very well, but not a single key on the keyboard does nothing. The key of the Windows logo on the screen still works, and the Assist button still works. Good thing the BIOS menu takes in charge the touch pad AND the touch screen!

I wanted to see if the keyboard was replaceable, so I can go on the order of one off eBay or something (unless Sony sells parts direct?), so here are some photos I took along the way.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/Step1.jpg

After power off, switch off the power of the battery using the trombone for 2-3 seconds

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/Step2.jpg

After removing the 3 rubber feet, there are 10 screws to screw

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/step3.jpg

Lift the casing to open gently and work your way around the edges.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/Step4.jpg

There are 8 screws that hold the battery. Remove and remove the battery.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/Step5.jpg

Although only the upper-left corner of these 4 screws is now directly the keyboard, remove the other 3 and turn the shutters to exit both cables in water. Remove the hard drive here will make it easier to push on the bottom of the keyboard later.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/step6.jpg

Yet once, only the top left screw shown here directly holds the keyboard, but the last screw attached to the keyboard is behind this metal, so unscrew the 5 others live here marked 1-5. These 5 will not come out all the way.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/Step7.jpg

Unplug the power to the fan by pulling upward. The last screw attached to the keyboard is behind the metal as shown. I folded just Assembly of the road a little to access the screw.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/step8.jpg

Here you can see where the holes behind the hard drive, which allows you to easily start the withdrawal of the keyboard.

Only detach the superior, left and right by pushing upward and work your way around. The lower part of the keyboard (closest to the touchpad) will just slide upward and out after that the other 3 sides are released.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/step9.jpg

Here is another view with everything removed.

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/step10.jpg

The back of the keyboard, showing where the 3 screws attached. Tablecloth for the keyboard cables attach to the motherboard by dragging the output to the front (not not turning up like those on top of the hard drive).

    http://ark42.com/Sony/keyboard/step11.jpg

The keyboard is completely removed. Circles show where the 3 screws attach to the back.

Well, I hope this is all useful to people. I put all together and the laptop still works fine. The keyboard does not at all well, but I know that I can replace it myself now.

    * edit * will probably order http://www.ebay.com/itm//171781254290 because it does not resemble Sony sells direct parts I can find anywhere. Ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/260951528702 instead for like $2 more, because the Canada ships seemed faster than ships from China.

  • No icon volume level or brightness

I used to have an icon in the middle of the screen whenever I turned the volume up/down, brightness up/down, or whenever I turned on CapsLock. Icons no longer appear.

They used to appear for a few seconds in the middle of the screen, and then disappear. The caps lock screen would appear in the lower right corner ogf the screen and stay there until you have disabled.

Is it possible to recover these features?

Note: Past to turing and properties of toolbar icons is not my problem

This is a utility created by the PC manufacturer [he is not part of Windows 7].

You need to check the manual of your PC or visit the PC manufacturer support site to identify the name of the utility.  Get another copy of it on the site of the manufacturer of the PC support, then reinstall it.

From your description, you have a Dell. The name of the utility is QuickSet and it will list drivers & downloads for your model.

  • Desktop Dell Optiplex 390 computer. Each USB Port stopped working

    Hello!

I'm at my wits end. Turned on my Optiplex 390 a few days ago and found that my keybord or my mouse was working. I tried all the usb ports on the front and back. When I plug inn the keybord the numlock, capslock and scroll lock lights upp for half a second, but it was not detected.

I can't get into the bios. as my keyboard is not detected at all. start or windows or linux or back or Freedos.

My Bios is A01. Is trying to update, but you know no keyboard, I tried to reset the bios by the rider and take out the battery for a few hours. to no awail.

Can anyone think of what the problem might be? doubt his material because none of the usb ports work and that they should be on different controllers.

Manual says that the 390 office has an intrusion switch. See the manual for the location of the connection on the motherboard and the trace of wire to the switch.

Blue button / stop more amber LEDs 1,2,3,4 is not an error code documented.

Are you sure that you have disabled the BIOS as speed tells you how?

You will have to strip to bare essentials, but more like the failure of the motherboard.

  • Brightness (key or setting) setting does not work on HP Envy17 2290nr after the loading of Windows 8?

After the upgrade to windows 8, why the brightness adjustment is no longer works on HP Envy17 2290nr?  Went to set the charms and brightness controls do not work here either.

Hello DJSZCZEP.  I understand you are having some problems with control of the brightness of your laptop in Windows 8.

HP is still drivers for the update for Windows 8.   Most laptops that have been purchased after October 1, 2011 must be supported at the time.  Here a link to more information on the upgrade to Windows 8 and HP.

The support page for your laptop does not currently listed drivers for Windows 8.  This does not mean that Windows 8 does not work on your laptop.  This simply means that some features and functions may not be available. Advanced features like the brightness control can be handled by the driver itself and require a complete driver for features.  Your the tender specifications lists the video card like the ATI Radeon 6850 M.  Here are the drivers for the 64-bit version of Windows 8.  Try using these drivers and tell me if this solves the problem.

Keep an eye on the support page of your product for updates, including drivers for Windows 8.  I hope it's useful.

It is a mistake of memory? How to fix?

  • ThinkPad Yoga - Backspace, Windows, shift, T, Y, tab, [---], Capslock key doesn't work do not

I had my TPY for a little more than a year without any problems, but today, I lost the ability to use the following keys:

BACKSPACE, Windows, offset to the left, T, Y, tab, Capslock, [---]

In addition to the function keys. Using the on-screen keyboard or external keyboard usb works fine. I'm unable to use the tab to the BIOS screen key, so it seems to be a hardware problem. This seems to be a common problem for these keys especially for the various models from Lenovo and even some Dells. I tried to reinstall the drivers for the keyboard as suggested in other posts, and I tried to replace the keyboard connection according to this video:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=PxHKvpI8Wvc

I bought this unit from the MS store with only a 1 year warranty (which is now in place), so I don't know what to do. I can try to replace the keyboard, but it seems that others have had only limited with replacement success. Everyone has dealt with this problem?

Update for everyone running into the same problem:

I ordered a replacement off of eBay keyboard and manuals for replacement of material allowing to disassemble my TPY and switch the keyboard online. Everything works again as usual!

  • Why no indicator light no press capslock on new ThinkPad, Lenovo LED?

I just bought the ThinkPad Yoga. Overall, it's amazing. I like it. It has only a few quirks which I think will set at a time with the software (if all goes well, such as the need to calibrate the accuracy of the pen, especially on the edges).

But one thing that I was disappointed that the capslock key does not have an operating light! Key mute, hit Fn and microphone keys all have lights, but not of capslock! Why did someone would make such a decision. All indicators, the capslock led would be probably the most important, followed by the Fn lock indicator.

Please, in the future Lenovo, do not exclude the capslock indicator, mainly because you don't know if your customers are going to install another OS that doesn't have the software to show a symbol on the screen.

Not be the best brand of PC, just be the * best very * brand PC possible. Thank you.

    Hello

Welcome to the Community Forums of Lenovo!

Thanks for your comments about ThinkPad yoga and I appreciate the shared reflections.

So I think that Lenovo still has an incredible quality of construction and the machines are tank - as in sustainability, people make comparisons within the same series. Many people have favorite features or elements of design on a particular model, and because they like that, the design for the new models instructions can be seen as better or worse. I also support your suggestion concerning the indication of caps lock that would be really great. If all goes well, our engineers will concern suggestions during the coming machine design.

    Best regards

    Mithun.
