Equium A100-147 - how to install additional RAM memory?

Can someone point me to instructions on how to mount an extra internal memory for a satellite A100-147.

Thank you.

Hey Buddy,

Upgrading RAM is quite easy: remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Turn around the laptop and remove the screw fixing the memory module cover and lift to it. Now you can insert a second memory module.

Also, check your user manual. You will find more details and photos on this upgrade. It can be downloaded on the site of Toshiba, if you n t have more. ;)

  • Equium A100-147: how to drive to repalce the CD/DVD?

    Hello world

can someone tell me how to replace my dvd player in my A100?
It's a massive delicate work or I can do it easily?

I'm completely lost without it, and it seems a pity to pay a price that is stupid to get the thing repaired.
I noticed a number of pretty good readers markets on ebay and thought I should try an auto repair.

    Hello

CD/DVD drive replacement is not difficult for someone who has done in the past, but if you have never changed this part, then this might be a bit hard for you

First of all he must know that not all CD/DVD drives are compatible due to different settings master/slace/c-salt
You need a disk check compatible your user manual should be that an info on supported readers otherwise contact the ASP for a good optical drive

As far as I know to remove the two screws until you would be able to Exchange on the STRANGE.
A screw secures the player at the bottom of the unit, the other screws are placed under the keyboard, then you will need to remove the keyboard as well

I think the best is to contact a technician mobile downtown the technician could remove it for you and should not be expensive and in this case, you are always on the right side

    Hello

How have you tried to install vista on the laptop?
Have you tried to switch the MCE to Vista or were you running the new clean install of Vista?

In my opinion, you must perform a clean installation. Don t updated the existing MCE of Vista.

  • Cannot install driver Equium A100 - 147 LAN (ethernet)

    Hello

I have the same problem, as in the http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=17316 section.

I downloaded and installed all the drivers that I needed on my Equium A100-147, but not working no driver Lan (ethernet).

I have windows XP, home edition, SP2.

I tried both types of drivers Toshiba download (and a few others also), that should work... but unfortunately, it does not.

I'd be happy if someone could help me. Thanks anyway.

    Adam.

    Hello Adam

Thanks for the feed back, but I must say that I'm really confused why you have problem to facilities with driver on Toshiba download page. In any case, the problem is solved and that's the most important thing! ;)

  • Upgrade of RAM Equium A100-147

Hi, I have an Equium A100-147 with the standard of 1 GB of RAM (512 MB + 512 MB pc-4200) professional XP.

I'd like to update, and I was wondering if it would be allowed to replace one of the 512 MB sticks with a single stick of 2 GB pc-5300. RAM would be then 2 GB pc-5300 plus 512 MB pc-4200 = 2.5 GB in total.

Or would it be better to buy 2 x 1 GB sticks of pc-5300 and sell or discard existing memory?

I see a significant speed increase over the existing configuration of the Ram?

    All advice appreciated.

    Thank you.

I agree with Akuma, it would be better to use 2 x 1 GB modules.

This combination with 2 GB and 512 MB with different (PC4200 and PC5300) specifications could make problems like freezing, BSOD, etc..

At present, the price of memory is very cheap, so I think that this should not be a problem.

  • Equium A100-147 - including modules of RAM to upgrade?

    Hello

I think to upgrade the RAM on my Equium A100-147 and I was wondering what kind of RAM I should get and what is the maximum amount of RAM supported?

It has a processor clocked at 1.6 GHz centrino duo t2050 if that's any help? I looked on the toshiba site and they sell only 1 GB of supported modules, but in other places I've seen people say that it can take more?

    Thank you

    Hi mate,

The maximum RAM capacity depends on your chipset you have. From Toshiba Web site displays a maximum capacity of 4 GB of RAM, but don t forget, you need an OS to use the full capacity of 64-bit. Otherwise, you are only able to use about 3 GB.

You can buy all the modules you want to, but I made good experiences with the Kingston modules. Kingston memory research shows the compatible modules for your laptop:

  • Equium A100-147: Impossible to get Bluetooth to work

I bought an Equium A100-147 last week and noted in the manual it should have Bluetooth capabilities. However, I can't get this to work. I looked for my phone, and it does not pick up the computer as a bluetooth device. In the help files, it says I can set it up in the bluetooth settings in the Control Panel, but there is nothing in there. I tried to install the battery Bluetooth Toshiba, but it keeps asking me to install the bluetooth device.

This computer actually has bluetooth abilities or not? If so, how can I get this to work?

  • Equium A100-147: can I use external monitor with 1920 x 1200 output

    Hello

I have an equium A100-147, anyone know if its possible to use my external lcd as office extended to its native resolution of 1920 x 1200, I want to use it for photo editing.

None of these options to external display currently on the graphics card drivers provide a decent game with the external monitor.

How can I make it fit on the screen without stretch or compress images with a decent resolution?

    Hi Mae

As you probably know the resolution you want to use depends on the installed graphics driver.
If the graph does not contain the 1920 x 1200 resolution you will not be able to use it.

But maybe after a small modification of the graphics driver you will be able to choose such an external resolution.

  • Equium A100-147 doesn't boot up - no display on screen

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium A100-147. When I turn, I see as the light of the maximum but there is no display on the screen.
I read on a previous thread on a similar model that this has been fixed by resetting the computer.
I understand there is a possibility that there is a problem with the motherboard, but I remain optimistic that a manual-reset would work.

Is someone can you please tell me how this can be done?

    You can try this procedure simple and short;

-Remove the battery from the laptop
-disconnect 3rd external devices and adapter
-leave the laptop for about 20-30 min
-then reconnect battery and AC adapter

If the portable fuel after this procedure, then your have a serious hardware problem and only the ASP can help you.

I don t want to make a statement on the possible faults, because it of always hard to say what's wrong exactly, but it looks a bit like a motherboard problem.

    Good bye

  • USB 2.0 Bluetooth DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED - Equium A100-147

    Hi all!!!

I have posted b4 about my problems of BT, but still no further forward.

I have a 2.0 usb toggle universl BT, my last worked well until it broke.

Since I had xp pro installed, but my USB does not recognize my rocking do not even have a pop up? any ideas.

When I plug it 3 fast Dong

    Unplug and made 2 Dong

I tried to install the drivers usb, but nothing.

do my head now... Please someone help me resolve this issue!

As far I know Equium A100-147 doesn t support the internal BT module and so if it was not equipped with the BT Toshiba stack.

If you use an external 3rd party module BT, then you should check if there are drivers designed specially for this external BT dongle.

Also, check if the BT dongle would be recognized in the Device Manager.
If there is no dongle BT listed in the list of devices, then remove all controllers and hubs of UBS in the list and restart the device.
After rebooting again Win XP should initialize the USB ports again and then you try to plug the dongle BT again.

    Good luck
