Equium A100-147 with error message "PXE - E61 Media Test Failure"

Hi all

I Equium A100 out of warranty due to the error message "PXE-61 Media Test Failure" I took it to my local computer Lamplighter, told me my Toshiba 60 GB hard drive failed (MG6034GSX) and replaced by another 120 GB model.
I tried to reload the Toshiba Recovery disk system, reload reached 75%, then the messages come in saying that it does not find a lot of operating system files.
Thinking the recovery disc was faulty, I got a replacement from Toshiba, and this reload disk gave the same problem.
I loaded XP Professional on the 120 GB HARD drive and it works OK but I'd like to load original as it came with XP MCE.

Is my problem the 120 GB HDD which should be as original 60 gb and a HDD for Toshiba genuine to accept the recovery media?

Does anyone have any ideas, I would really appreciate your help.

See you soon

Hello

Don t think that it is a problem of restore CD is normally impossible
I think that the problem might be related to the HARD drive.

First of all, you need to access the BIOS and should set the defaults (don't forget to save it).
Then try to format the whole HARD drive and also remove the created partitions.

Then you could try again installing the OS from the recovery CD.
Usually, this procedure works fine

Good luck

It takes an age to start etc.

I followed the instructions on the leaflet that was packaged with the CD and everything seems to work very well.

    Hello

This message usually if the laptop cannot find a bootable device and finally tires to boot from LAN.
But if the boot to LAN is not possible then the message PXE - E61: Media Test Failure, check cable would appear on the screen.

Generally, this will happen if the HARD drive is not accessible (dead or defective) or the laptop cannot boot from the disc.

I think that you should first check if it would be possible to solve this problem by using a new HARD drive.

Turn on the laptop and hold ESC, then press F1 when prompted. By pressing F12 at startup should give you a start menu. (It's in the user manual)

The PXE error means its trying to boot from the network, because it can not find an OS on the HARD drive.

Test the HARD drive by using a HARD drive test. The Advanced test in Hitachi DFT is good. (google is your friend)

    Hi Nash

The PXE error occurs because the laptop tries to start first from the local network.
You must enter the BIOS and change the order on HARD disk or a CD. I recommend that you set the LAN option at the end of the boot order.

The recovery CD you can buy form the Toshiba service partner in your country.
The number on the sticker is only an OEM key. You can not use it with a Windows operating system several.

I was formatting my brothers laptop computer. Everything seems to work properly, he had begun to formate, but then I got a message to set disc 2.
I put in and got a massage of error on the disc.
So now all I get when I start the computer it's a massage says:

    Invaild partition table

And noting seem to work at all.

All I can do to fix this?

    Hello

Seems the laptop does not recognize the attached HARD disk and it tires for a start of LAN.
But the LAN initialization failed and so this error message is displayed.

The partition table invalid error message means that something is wrong with your HARD drive partitions n.
I think you should try to boot from the CD of Win XP and need to format the disk HARD whole again.
Delete all partitions, everything! Format it again and try to reinstall the operating system.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A210 - strange start up error - PXE - E61 Media Test failure check

    Here's a weird scenario.

HARD drive has failed. Fortunately, do regular backups, then restored on a new HARD drive.

New HARD drive is securely fixed to the A210. Power on, HDD recognised by the BIOS and proceeds to start, get the following error:
For the Fast Ethernet Realtek RTL8100E-8101E network adapter Version 1.02

PXE - MOF from the PXE ROM

A210 will BE boot from USB or DVD.

Tried various things, internet research, found a lot of mistakes same or similar, air conditioned and have a no good result.

I have a Paragon boot, booted disk in it. One of the options is to find some operating systems on hard disks. Try to find BONES. If you want to start in it, accept and Win 7 loads!

So, why the A210 will not load the OS? It recognizes the HARD drive, and another medium may start in the operating system.

    Looking forward to your answers!

    Hello

There are normally 3 possible reasons of this error you have.

    1. the BIOS boot order set to Network Boot: BIOS settings to check the boot order.

    2. check the cable connections between the motherboard and the hard disk.

    3. doesn't have a hard drive.

Messages PXE always makes me check the boot order in the Bios to you make sure it is correct.  For Windows to load needs to access the hard drive on your machine, this is not the case.  The hard drive must be set before any PXE (Network Boot).  The message of the startup disk not valid because you inserted diskette that does not have a boot disk, then remove the disk from the drive.  Focus on the Boot order in the Bios.

To enter the Bios (see your computer screen to the power, your manual or the manufacturer's web site) you probably rely on something like the delete key, or one of the F keys at startup time, but the actual key varies from a model.  Many computers call it "Enter Setup", the installation program is just another term for Bios.

Set your Bios on the default security settings can also solve that for you.

  • Portege M205-S809-PXE-E61 Media Test failure PXE - M0F error

I replaced (what I thought was) a HD on my Portege M205-S809 failure (I was getting the error "PXE - E61 Media Test failure PXE - M0F").
I put in the HD and turned on the laptop to get the same error.

My intention was to reistall the BONES of the recovery Toshiba and DVD Applications/drivers, but I can't. I just keep the error each time that I reboot.

I checked the BIOS and made sure he does not try to boot from the network (and reset the defaults, just in case). I tried a configured to boot from the CD first, but that didn't work. I rechecked the HD and it seems to be plugged in fine.

    Help! Thank you.

  • Re: Satellite L850-150 - PXE - E61 media test failure error

    Hey all,.

Yesterday, while using my laptop normally, my laptop crashed and showed me the blue screen. When I tried to restart, he gave me what PXE - E61 media test failure, followed by the well known text.

I looked in the BIOS and boot order was right (HDD is first as it should), but to my surprise, the hard drive was no longer recognized on the first page of the BIOS (it says HDD/SSD: None). I already tried to reinsert the HARD drive (loose screw them, removed and inserted back), but it does not solve the problem. In my opinion, it probably means that my HARD drive is defective?

What would be the best course of action? Is it still possible to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Somehow the disk HARD is not properly detected.
Try to set the BIOS to default settings and check again.

Please do so and send feedback.

I have absolutely no idea what it means, and I use never no ethernet cable because I have a Wi - Fi connection, but he is relentless. I went through F2 and F12 and all settings are perfectly fine. Order of the BIOS is fine with the HARD disc on top.

    What should I do?
    Best regards

    Hey Buddy,

If you have tested the HARD drive in a box of another and external HARD drive laptop without success the case is clear: the HARD drive needs to be replaced because it s defective!

I can understand that you want to recover your data, but what do you do if you are not able to access? In this case you need assistance, a special data recovery lab, but it is not cheap and costs hundreds of dollars.

I m wondering that you don't have a backup. Have you never tried to do it or thought it would be useful?

Last but not least a new HARD drive can be ordered at a service provider authorized in your country or each computer store. Satellite L300 supports SATA 2.5 hard drives.

    Hello

I think that this is related to failure of HARD drive or lack of OS on the HARD drive.
Is this message PXE ONLY appears if the portable computer is trying to boot from LAN.

Means either the LAN was chosen in the BIOS as first boot device or operating system is not found on the HARD drive and so the BIOS automatically goes to the local network.

So I recommend this audit in the worst case you will need to check if the new HARD drive would solve this

  • Satellite C660 - 10 d Operating System not found PXE - E61: Media test failure

I have a Satellite C660 - 10 d, which is part of the 1 year warranty which has suddenly decided it won't start and makes a strange noise that sounds mechanical.

I tried the options F2 & F11 at startup, but I always return to the same messages some options I try:

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller v1.23 (28/07/10)
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM
    Operating system not found.

I can't go beyond that and get the laptop doesn't work, which leads to my second problem.

It is under warranty so I thought I would sign in for repair. The serial number is recognized in the section Product Support My. But when I try to enter in the repair section, it is said

    ERROR: serial not valid number.
    Please check and try again.
Then gives a number to call which only works weekdays.

So, I have what appears to be a broken laptop that I can currently connect to repair.
If you are able to help with one of these problems, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

I'm quite sure that the problem is related to the defective HARD drive.
This would also explain the mechanical noise when starting.

PXE - E61: Media test failure appears as the laptop attempts to boot from LAN.
Why? Because the disk HARD could not be found and the CD/DVD drive does not contain a startup disk.

So the BIOS switched to LAN

This is why replacement of HARD drive should help you with this problem.
If the warranty is valid, get in touch with a local ASP in your country. Maybe you could get a HARD disk which could be replaced easily
