Equium A60-155: Win98 on the recovery disk?

I have several problems with my laptop, but after trying to use the product recovery disc, it says it's from windows 98 rather than windows xp which was originally about it. I cant even install that, because it seems that I have an overheating problem and he died before completing the task, but it is possible that I have the wrong cd? This is certainly the cd supplied with the machine when I bought it. Please help, I'm pulling out my hair and it would be great at least a sovle problem!

Hello

You can try to clean the radiator of the dust with the vacuum cleaner.

And do not worry about the recovery disc, it is the right one. Win98 will be only responsible for drive, but XP will be installed.

Good bye

    Hello

Unfortunately, don t find all documents on the fan to replace procedure, but in my opinion it should remove much of a screw covers.
This procedure is not easy and if you don't have any experience you shouldn't t remove anything.
By the way; If you remove the cover, you will lose the warranty.

In this case, the best way is to contact Toshiba service in your country for assistance and more information.

Hello. Anyone know where I can get a cd recovery Toshiba Equium A60-191-the one I was badly scratched and I need a new - can I download one on line?

    Dee :-)

The recovery disc can t be downloaded.

If you need a new recovery disk, you need to ask your local ASP. They can order.
On the Toshiba site, you can search an ASP:

  • Equium A60-155: error of the Symantec antivirus

I have an error message from my anti-virus from Symantec that definitions of files are corrupt - this happens whenever the laptop is used - any ideas why it is doing this?

I tried different antivirus solutions... McAfee, AVG, Norton etc. but they all have similar problems - not loading correctly, errors in programs or just dropped.

I also reinstalled Symantec but which has not been set. I have also reinstalled the OS several times but it makes no difference.

I tried to live with the Norton Security 2004, delivered with the laptop, but that will keep not itself no longer updated, and when I try the update, it just falls and accidents - and it's the image came with the laptop without any change made.
This version of Norton also tends to make the laptop run like a 268.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

    Hello

As far as know license update Norton Anti Virus that has been pre-installed on the unit is available for 1 year. I think that after 12 months it of not possible update the file to virus definition, or you need to buy an additional license.
But I don't think it's responsible for the strange problem.

I put t understand this recovery procedure doesn't solve this problem.
Have you had a second partition? Maybe you have a virus on the second partition?
    Unfortunately I m of ideas. :(

  • Equium A60-155, without recognizing the hard drive

I gave to this laptop and asked if I could sort. its not to recognize the hard drive. I updated the BIOS to 1.9 but that did not help.
The friend gives me no docs or discs, just of the PSU. I found the manual on the website, but it is less than helpful. any ideas before I tell my friend to get a new hard drive to try?
I don't own a laptop myself so I have nothing to try it.

    Hello
What HARD drive you installed in your laptop?
The fact is that this laptop comes with a 40 GB HARD drive. Most BIOS cannot recognize the device because of the size of the HARD drive.
Maybe you can use a 60 GB HARD drive, but I n t think that BIOS recognize larger drives.
In this case, I would first of all check if the HARD drive is supported.

  • Replacement of the hard disk for Equium A60-155

I need to replace the hard drive in my equium A60-155. I need to know what is compatible with this model and if the brand of the drive is important in compatibility. For example should be a drive hard toshiba or is it possible to others.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

You n t need to install a HDD in particular of Toshiba. You can also use disk of another company.

It is important that you use a HARD drive with support for hardware specifications.

I found these useful discussions on the replacement of the HDD on the Satellite and Equium A60:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=23770&MessageID=87207
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=22183&MessageID=81930

Satellite A60 is very similar to the A60 Equium and so the two series use the same hard disks

  • How can I copy DVDs on the HDD on Equium A60-155

Anyone know if I can copy DVDs to the hard drive?
I have an Equium A60-155 and Sonic Record now and Intervideo winDVD creator on it.

These two programs say that they allow me to copy to a blank disc, but don not say if I can copy on the hard disk.

    Hello

sure, why not. Go to Explorer windows and do copy - paste, which should make the thing.

Otherwise, there should be a few good programs like "Isobuster" that can do almost the same thing...

    Welcome them

  • Equium A60-155 died - how to change the motherboard?

    Hello

A week ago, I used my laptop Equium A60-155, I turned it off for the night. The next morning, he lights up no battery or AC, the lights on the front of the LT do not come on either.

I tested the AC and it is very much pushing the 14.8V.

On another forum suggested to abolish the HD to see if that would help (it didn't).

So it might be that the MOBOs dead (in which case I'll have to buy a new one when I get a job, or internal theers fuse who jumped (if it exists).)

If there is an internal fuse can I replace it myself and what is? (I'm on a job and can not afford the repair costs, some charge 70 Quid to pick it up, and another Bill 110 quid + parts)

I guess it's just a matter of undoing the screws on the bottom?

    Hello

I suggest also to contact the ASP in your country, because he can do a diagnostic test and can give you a detailed response.
Maybe you n t need to change the Board of Directors, and perhaps only the part low cost has a failure.
But to find out the laptop must be verified.

  • My opinion on the Toshiba Equium A60-155

I've had an Equium A60 - 155 during almost a year now and I'm quite impressed by it. For £730 I paid for it, not worth it.

I had to increase the ram with another stick 512 for another £60 as the laptop does not work even with the standard 192. By that, I mean system breaks down, abnormal system responses, spontaneous reboots, system files/missing features, anti-virus program, just basically a machine unreliable, unusable failures.

I will say that now the extra ram is installed, the software is more stable and most previous problems disappeared. But Toshiba is expected to have delivered it with 512 MB in the first place!

And the battery on this is terrible! There is barely even a laptop! On a good day with battery all the saving settings on max I get about 50 minutes of it--and Yes, a year ago, when it was new, it would last together 30 more minutes at about 1:20. At the point where the thing was started in Windows and you install to work, it is for food then you might as well forget about asking him and always run from the network.

How Toshiba charge that kind of money for a laptop that has this kind of performance? There is nothing on the laptop that can justify this money... the graphics card? Average. The processor? Celeron - enough said. The motherboard? Standard. The battery life? Laughable. The DVD burner? A bonus, but not worth the extra money. The size? Large.

Just that there is more that I could do about it I wish and Toshiba could be made aware of the misery that they have caused me (and probably many others) during this 'portable '.

    * Note to the mods - please do not remove this post once again. Why do you feel the need to remove it anyway? Send me an email.

I don't want to sound harsh, but you shouldn't really complain if you had bothered to check the specifications before you buy. Regarding the system crash that you can't just blame Toshiba is much poorly written drivers in XP bugs bugs in the BIOS firmware. Make sure you have XP installed with all the latest service packs for updates also updates BIOS (there has been 3 since I bought my A60-181) and if you want to try a different operating system to install Linux or use a distribution like Knoppix bootable CD.
The battery life on laptops are poor, in general, I have seen some rival brands that quoted 1.5 hours but that the technology for you and having a processor Celeron doesn t s helped no more. That said that 50 minutes seems short for load complete so I recommend to contact Toshiba and see if they replace.
The Admin of this forum is probably done only by ensuring that all messages on this forum to help are useful asking the nature. Making negative comments about products Toshiba on a Toshiba forum isn't clever but if you have a problem, then ask for help instead.

    see you soon,

  • Equium P300 - where can I get the recovery disk?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium P300 and who need the recovery disc for this.

I rang toshiba directly, but they do not take my card of my cell phone is being repaired 3times now the 1st time was for a hard drive again when they returned it she came with Vista Premium top.
2nd time in repair he went for a new processor and the 3rd time recently he went for new hardrive but when I didn't return this morning he has no windows on it at all.

I couldn't do the recovery discs when I first purchesd the laptop or the other. Does anyone have the recovery disc for this model as if im not stuck without aid of computer laptop me please!

    Hello

    > So I couldn't use one of me then Matt windows installation disk? I have my own key for it
As you said Garrett t can use the wrench on the underside of the laptop with a normal installation of Windows that you can buy anywhere.
This key is a key OEM and that means that it belongs to the version preinstalled Windows.

Normally if you buy a copy of Windows you will also receive a key for this.

So either you buy a version of Windows or you order a disk recovery Toshiba directly, but before that, you you must contact your bank on the credit card.

    Good bye
