Equium A60-692: memory upgrade question

Hi, I want to improve my memory. I wanted to add a memory of 1 GB on the extra slot but I wanted to be sure that I'm looking for, I don't know much about it and I want to ensure I have buy one that is compatible with everything. If someone knows something about this answer please.
Thank you

Hello

Well, you're first time here in the forum ;) Welcome!

Now to your question. AFAIK the Equium A60-692 was delivered with an internal memory of 256 MB. This module cannot be deleted.
Additional memory location is available and you can upgrade the memory for max 1280MB (256 MB + 1024 MB) in this case, you can use a 1 024 MB module.

You use PC2100 DDR - RAM memory modules.
Also, I found one that you can use without any problems. The reference is: 1024Mo PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

It may be useful

I currently have Toshiba Equium A60-155 with 192 MB of RAM standard, and thought of the upgrade or buy a new laptop and I'm looking for advice.

I use my computer for music production mainly as well as simple tasks such as browsing the internet and funny game (mainly supercomputers, data sets with less emphasis on graphics etc.)

Basically everything I want to know the weather bought 1 GB of RAM would be update worth it because at the present time, the performance is slow to say the least. It would make a lot of improvement to my laptop or I'd better save for a few months and buy a new computer laptop all together?

    Thanks guys :)

    Hi Claire,

Increase the RAM in your A60: his current 256 MB will certainly benefit even if I suspect that the improvement will be not exactly breathtaking.

I suggest using the monitor of the task (available in Task Manager, during the execution of some of your applications to see just what the memory usage you actually is.

You currently have 64 MB of your existing RAM allocated for use of graphics, and you may be able to reduce this to 32 MB or 16 MB even to give you an additional display options in RAM capacity advances.

The actual gain from adding additional RAM will come if you want to run multiple simultaneous applications.

  • Equium L350 - 10L - memory upgrade question

    Hello

I have the Equium L350 - 10L. Is it possible to upgrade the memory on my laptop. For the moment, it has 2GB (2x1GB).

    Thank you

Of course you can upgrade the RAM.
Did you look in the manual that was stored on the laptop?
I think that you should do this it can you did many details, photos and any other information regarding the upgrade of RAM.

Check the memory extension Chapter 8 option aircraft.

In addition, you should know that if you would upgrade the RAM to 4 GB then your 32-bit Windows system will see ONLY 3.2 GB.
So if you want to use full 4 GB, you will need to change the operating system to 64-bit.

In my opinion, 3 GB of RAM are more than enough

  • Satellite A60-199 - memory upgrade questions

I have a Satellite A60-199 and you want to increase the RAM to 512 MB.
Is this possible and if so how much memory can I put in

    Mike hills

The brochure says that you can install a 1 GB module in the memory slot. There is only one slot, you can install memory.

So if there are 256MB onboard, you can increase the total 1.25 GB memory

    Hello

first post here. I just got myself an A100-338 and it comes with 2 x 512 MB memory sticks ddr2 pc2-4300 and I want to add an extra GB 1. What I have to buy 2 x 512 MB sticks or can I buy the 1 x 1 GB stick? Does make a difference if you mix different sizes of memory?

    Thank you

    Hi Jonathan

    What do you do?
You want to upgrade the memory to 2 GB?

How do you upgrade the memory to 2 GB using 512 MB modules? ;) 4 x 512MB?
Sorry, but something like that is not possible.

The laptop supports only 2 memory slots
That's why you should use the module memory 2 x 1024Mo. Do you agree?

  • Equium A60-692: Question on the RAM size

I have an Equium a60-692, which indicates that she has a 256 MB DDR Ram. When I check the system, he says he has 197 MB of Ram. I am told that this is due to the pilot of the screen using the other 60 MB. Which seems big to me or is this normal? I also find that the machine is slow to start and open programs. Is it because of the limited amount of Ram (197 MB)? An increase in Ram would solve my problem?

    Hi Ron,

You available RAM is 256 MB, and that the BIOS reserves a small portion for the graphics card. The normal distribution is 64 MB for that you will 192Mo of left RAM for use by the operating system. 64 MB is quite normal for the use of graphics (and is small enough to some modern games). You may be able to reduce the amount (say, at 32 MB) in your BIOS (check allocation UMA).

Slow loading may indicate that your HARD drive is a grooming needs. I recommend running Disk Cleanup on your Start menu, followed by Disk Defragmenter also in the menu START. This will ensure that you schedule the files and folders are properly located and organized for use.

Increasing your RAM probably will not help your slow loading problem, although it will improve the performance of games and utilities of great resources by reducing the use of the swap file.

  • Equium A60-692: Texas controller ieee 1394 host controller starts is not getting started

I had unfortunately no response about the foregoing. I have Equium A60-692 and installed the new copy of XP.

Before that, I inherited machine with power stuck on the password. Former owner had left standing for several months and said this seems to cause this not tentatives not this setting. I managed to use a rider based on the to remove, but now I think it was a symptom of more serious problems (but maybe I did something BIOS?)

The controller seems to be when the machine is hot (strange). Fact that average anomaly map mother re ccomponent ventilation cold?

Any help here, because I have tried everything I can.

Have you set the BIOS to default settings?

Hmmm... What about the question of hot/cold? I imagine that certain welded components can lose connectivity when the laptop is cold.
In my opinion, you should install driver chipset when possible. Subsequently disable device firewire in Device Manager. I mean that this port is probably not so important to you. Isn t it?

  • Equium A60-692: sudden failure

I have an equium A60-692, a little more than 9 months. For the past few weeks the computer just turned off while I'm working, especially watching a dvd. I removed the battery and restarted and worked normally. Is something wrong with the battery or the computer uses not common but the passage to the battery?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    David.

    HI David,

There are two possible reasons for your problem,

1: the laptop may be overheating leading to the power off. Normally, it is clearly the fan increased before the laptop closed.

If this is the case try any dust/debris from your cooling fans with a compensation vacuum hose.

2: your power system could suffer an intermittent contact of your power connector on your laptop, which causes the phone switch to battery power, even if the power supply is connected. Usually, this will require a power-stop/restart to restore normal operation. If this is the case, you will notice the low battery alarm.

At 9 months, it is likely that dust/debris is your culprit so I would check that first.

If you suspect your power connector then you should always be covered by your warranty even if you have to convince your repairman is not due to 'normal' wear

  • Equium A60-692-power - laptop gets no power

    Hey

My Equium A60 - 692 has ceased all powered by the AC adapter (though I measured it and its give a good 19v). I noticed the end of the adapter (the end that goes into the laptop) is different from the normal ones. Rather than having a hole in the center that integrates a pic on the laptop, it's just got a piece of flat metal. Wondering that was normal and the problem is inside your computer laptop or if the latter has somehow broken and is stuck in the adapter. It looks like its supposed to be that way, but it seems a little weird...

    see you soon

    HELLO Rodders,

I fear bad news. The flat piece of metal that you describe is the rear part of the central axis that broke inside the power jack on your laptop. It is quite a common phenomenon (check some other posts on these forums).

Unfortunately, the solution to this problem is for your authorized Service partner nearest replace the motherboard (expensive!) unless you can find someone ready to weld in a new socket.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    Kind regards

  • iPod and Equium A60-692

I'm the unhappy owner of a mini ipod since Christmas, having had the thing replaced twice as format on my Toshiba Equium A60-692 caused an error of hard disk (irreparable). I hear on the grapevine that there is a known fault.
Someone at - it help him?

    Hello

I have no experience with this, but it will be interesting to know what exactly is happening, if you try to start the iPod. In my opinion you should try to find a solution on apple support page. Check it on http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/gethelp/.

  • What are the cards WiFi are Equium A60-692-compatible?

    Hi all
I have a Toshiba Equium A60-692 (model: PSA67E-001001EN). It has a wifi, lid at the rear for a wifi card, but I can't seem to find a list of anywhere where wifi cards are compatible. Someone would be able to provide me with a list of compatible cards!

Some people said that the Toshiba Equium A60-692 does not support a Wifi but as there is a sign for one at the back I guess that it is wifi ready! In the connectivity for the Athros Wizard, he says also there a 1394 connection, but it does not have a card.

I found a few on ebay and I want to know if they will be compatible:

    (1) Toshiba 802. 11a / g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card - Netzwerkkarte, Mini PCI - 802. 11 b, 802. 11A, 802. 11 g, PA3298U-1MPC

    (2) Toshiba WLAN Mini PCI PA3300U-1MPC 54 megabit 802.11 g/b

    (3) TOSHIBA WLAN MINI PCI 54 Mbps 802. 11a / b PA3273U-1MPC

    (4) Toshiba PA3300U-2MPC card WiFi Kit 802.11 g 54 Mbps NEU

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your responses!

    Hello

If s said Atheros has a connection 1394 so I guess this means that the firewire.
The IEEE 1394 mean the firewire connection available on this laptop.

Anyway, the WiFi network is not available and if you want to use WLan technology on your laptop if you use the WLAN USB key. It is the simplest way to connect to the wireless LAN.

  • Ieee 1394 host controller Texas Equium A60-692 does not start

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba Equium A60-692 about 2 years old. On rare occasions the above will install and also the network/ethernet card etc with it when it starts. But 99% of the time it fails to start upward.

Tech from Toshiba tell me it's the CMOS battery, but time slept OK for the last week so maybe it could be something else. Other strange things are can only recognize the drive HARD to start from what IDE Standard is chosen in the BIOS options (Enhanced IDE option and I think only used normal overall, ups causes boot errors). Also a green screen with weird graphics on occasion. Also the speed of the processor can be reduced, as shown in the properties of my computer.

Any ideas from anyone as worried of wasting time to unsolder the battery if this isn't the problem. Could this be a fault of the motherboard that is irreparable? I am a relative novice if need help someone here. This made me!

    Hello

I think you might be right. Eventually he s a small part on the motherboard that could malfunction.
If I m not mistaken the controller IEEE 1394 Texas Instruments could be the Firewire port and it s part of the mobo

    Welcome them

  • Equium A60-692 - no power and removing the HARD drive

The power has gone on my A60-692, the adapter is ok but there is just no no LED on the laptop. I had to get replaced a few years ago so maybe it is related to that of the power connector.

I took to a local repair place, he said, it would cost more to fix this, so I should really find it useful laptop only think about recover my data.

Is it really so hard to fix these things?
How hard is it to make the hard drive out, & how would then access down my data?

    Thank you
    Dave

    Hello

    > I took to a local repair place, he said, it would cost more to fix this, so I should really find it useful laptop only think about recover my data.
I agree with the authorized service provider. My personal opinion is that it s a malfunction of the motherboard and it is a very expensive part. Besides, Equium A60 is pretty old model so it would be better buy you a new laptop and recover your data.

    > How difficult is it to make the hard drive out, & how would then access down my data?
It of not difficult, but I m really wondering why you need access to these data. You don t have a backup? In my opinion the backup is the most important thing you need to do on a computer.
Anyway, normally on the underside of your laptop there is a HARD drive cover which is guaranteed by one or two screws. You must remove this cover and then you can see the HARD drive and you're able to remove it.
Also buy an external HARD drive enclosure where you can install the HARD drive. Then you can connect it to another computer to back up your data. ;)

  • HP Probook b 6450 memory upgrade question

    Hi all

I seem to have a strange question seeks to upgrade the memory in a HP 6450 b probook (i5 - 480 m & ATI card). The laptop came with 2 GB of sps p/n 598856-002, which is ram 1333 mhz 1.5V with the manufacturer being ramaxel. I ordered and installed a few sticks of kingston 4 GB

    http://h30094.www3.HP.com/product/SKU/10473659/mfg_partno/KTH-X3BS/4G

Mounted to them and all appeared to be as well as the operating system (win 7 32 bit pro) showed the recognized as 8 GB stick and 3 GB usable, the bios also reported 8 GB as well. However the moment that a 64 bit OS (Linux or Windows) is tempted to run just the laptop falls down or crashes

I already tried this upgrade with two sticks of crucial memory but had exactly the same problem, so think about crucial memory was the question I put to the supplier and ordered the kingstons rather.

I saw very similar question mentioned here:

    http://www.TomsHardware.co.UK/Forum/328016-30-memory-upgrade-ProBook

    and

    http://superuser.com/questions/580512/HP-ProBook-6450b-not-booting-after-memory-upgrade

My instinct suggests this notebook can be very picky about the memory chips, it may have to be a 4 GB key 16 chip versus chip 8 4 GB sticks.

Thoughts and help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    You are the very welcome.

Yes, I have never, ever install any module of memory in my notebooks from HP that does not 16 chips.

All the chips I use - 2 gigs and up, have 16 chips (8 on each side).

    Never had a problem.

  • 9150 memory Upgrade - Question once again

    Good day to all,

I have 2, Dimension 9150 who receive upgrades. The first machine was fine with OS WIN 7 / 32 PRO. Updated BIOS (A07), not installed the required software, no problem, everything no problem. RAID driver install also, no problem. Problem I have is the memory upgrade. Get machine 2 update, but not until this problem is resolved.

Been revised post old topic of memory and still has not found an absolute remedy to my question. Machine (1 and 2) are 2 GB; 4 512 PC2-4200 (all locations showing on bios config).  I installed 4; 1 GB PC2-5300. Problem? Must not like system accepts 4 GB maximum and is also accepted speed Max.

My problem is 2 GB in slot 1-2 (white) are good, no problems (boots to windows without error beeps). Check the BIOS and find sticks of memory are reading fix it. When I add the other 2 sticks of 3-4 (black), error on boot beeps and lights 1-3 lights telling me memory error.

I recently updated a dimension 4700 and used memory not dell Komputer Bay. Could see all the modules and showed 3.76, so I bought the same memory for this machine. I know that in the past, Dell machines are "FINICKY" when it comes to memory.

Is this the case? If so, Crucial memory has been discussed and I might add 2 (2 GB each)? That's what I was not able to see the answers. Part of the crucial says Yes, post only memory. The other Yes was that I could use sticks of 2 GB. Spec note 1 GB is max stick, per slot.

I am at a loss, if you're looking for an idea on a direction.

Yes, low density 2 rank INTEL chipset compatible ram works fine. The other way to say it isn't that 380 Precsion ecc ram works fine.   The GX620 has the same problem where we will see more ram by the bios but total ram is limited to 4 concerts by the chipset.  Upgrade to a precision 380 allows a full 8 gigabytes of ram.

You could put 4 x 2 gig and he would show even in the bios but the ram would not be usable and the machine does not start with 64 bit OS.
