Equium A60 power supply insulation question

My laptop recently failed a PAT to trial because of the continuity of the Earth. For background, it's a laptop bought UK but I am running an advance Australian 3-pin into the power adapter as I am in Australia.

I saw somewhere on here that standard satellite UK does not connect through the Earth and I wonder if someone can confirm the preference for an official title, because I believe that this is the cause of the problem, but it doesn't seem to be, for example, a symbol 'double insulation' on diet, nor the manual referred to - the laptop works very well and I have no reason to suspect the power supply are faulty.

So wonder if it actually has a pin plug 2 (UK power points need the same if taken earth it is not connected, Australian points are not).
I really need to resolve this issue I need to use my laptop on the site, but can't until he gets that agreement and I do not want to get a new (OEM) power when I do not think the existing one is broken, so I need something to test guys and show them that it is a normal behavior...

Of course, if this isn't normal behavior, I would be better to know now!

Thank you

I Don t think that the power supply is broken, and it doesn't really matter what the wall of the AC cable is connected from the regulated AC adapter voltage by itself and has it s own ground.

Maybe the PAT test fails, but food is not broken.

Welcome them

Hi, I want to improve my memory. I wanted to add a memory of 1 GB on the extra slot but I wanted to be sure that I'm looking for, I don't know much about it and I want to ensure I have buy one that is compatible with everything. If someone knows something about this answer please.
    Thank you

    Hello

Well, you're first time here in the forum ;) Welcome!

Now to your question. AFAIK the Equium A60-692 was delivered with an internal memory of 256 MB. This module cannot be deleted.
Additional memory location is available and you can upgrade the memory for max 1280MB (256 MB + 1024 MB) in this case, you can use a 1 024 MB module.

You use PC2100 DDR - RAM memory modules.
Also, I found one that you can use without any problems. The reference is: 1024Mo PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

  • Power supply upgrade Question

    Hi all

This isn't a typical question. I read in all directions for an answer with nothing doesn't. I have HP Pavilion A1560n, which comes with a power of 300W. As most of you know, HP uses ATX power supplies and so for me to original power level, I need to know if the upgrade of power must be for the rail voltage 12V or 5V voltage rail. You're probably wondering the reason for the upgrade, and it's because I have a lot more hard and readers of DVD RW that I need to use this system. Think of this system as a station of mini Server (admittedly not the best system for this) If you want.

With hard drives, one might think that the new power supply should have a higher on the 12V rail power. One could argue that the ATX V2.3 is also a good choice here because it has more than one 12V rail and retro-compatible with ATX. However, the fact that 2 different HP technicians mentioned that I need to upgrade is the power rail 5V me puzzled. A third technician just told me I need more power from 12V every power that I have met has more power on the 12V rail, except for the couple who had the same amount of power of 12V as my original power supply and many more the 5V power and the 3.3V rail.

Could you please refer me to any documentation that could enlighten us in what route to go? Should I get an ATX upgrade that would increase the power on the 5V and 3.3V rails or V2.x ATX which will increase the power on the 12V rail.

    Thank you

    Jim

Won't you Dear?  How about $ 45 for a Fortron 600W with 80 + cert?  $ 35 yesterday with a $10 OFF coupon.  This unit is 580W for 12V output rate.  No need to worry about the modern 3.3 and 5V rails with PC since the maximum load will be less than 100W.  This device does not have no problem of transverse load... which means that the system can take as little as a few watts on 3.3 and 5 v rails and still be able to get close to 600 w total power.  You can buy the adapter to convert SATA connector Molex, or vice versa if you have plenty of HARD drive.

This power supply has three independent 12V rails, each rated up to 18A.  Say staying us cautious and rates from the coast to 16A by rail, one call always load to the top of each tubular structure with eight drives.  The processor and the motherboard to sit on the other 12V rail and you can put a high range GPU and a few additional hard disks on the 3rd rail.

The HP tech skill level can vary considerably.  Great people work cheap, so if you want good advice, then you should put these questions to the hardware enthusiast forum.

Let's take a specific example for illustration.  I have a WD 1 TB green drive on my test bench.  The label says A 0.70 @ 5VDC (3.5W) and A 0.55 @ 12VDC (6.6W).  Eight hard drives would put on 28W load on the charge of rail and 5V on the 12V rail 53W.  Double this amount if you want a sturdy margin of safety.

Your PC will probably rely on 180W peak due to the older Intel CPU.  I doubt that you will have no problem to start six drives on the PC with the stock power supply.

  • Power Supply compatibility question

    Hello!

Tomorrow, my new Dell XPS 8700 arrived. I opted for the internal model with 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB HD, Intel i7 4790.

In the meantime, I ordered a few updates - specifically a 128 GB mSATA drive, an extra 1 TB internal HD and a Gigabyte GTX 960 overclockee edition.

Currently, I have concerns that the stock power supply may not be up to the task - and am shopping around just in case. I met one at an incredible price, and have two questions for anyone here with experience in this field:

    (1) Will Dell installed standard power supply handle additions above?

    (2) if not, is compatible with the machine down and architecture Haswell?

    www.TigerDirect.com/.../Item-details.asp

Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

Welcome to the club of 8700 XPS!

XPS 8700 OEM power will be well with a GTX 960.  No reason to spend, even if you add the mSATA and an additional HARD drive or two.

The mSATA reader will probably less than 5 extra watts, and the HDD is maybe 10 watts max.

And, insofar as this power supply, it seems that it is done by abderrazak, and is not a manufacturer that I heard a lot about.

  • HP ENVY Phoenix 850-065se: HP ENVY Phoenix 850-065se Power Supply replacement Question

On point to start using my new 850se and, like others, have long-term supply concerns with the unit from 500W to come with this model. Finally the PSU will have to be dealt with during the upgrade or this power will die quickly.  I thought I could just install a Modular 750W Cool Master PSU I have to just to fix the problem from the outset for the life of the platform. I jumped open the case and power supply cables was moving to look at and check the PSU is actually 500W (it is).

At first glance, everything in the 850se looks compact and compatible with a new PSU standard - then something cought my eye. Someone else saw the connector connecting the power supply that connects in the CD player? I'm not some tech pro by any means, but I'm not completely new at this stuff, and for the life of me I can't understand what is the connector. I am confused where I am fearful that it's some exclusive HP nonsense. I have never seen him and can not find maps while rummaging around looking. My only thought was there must be an adapter for the FDD or the 4 pin connector. I hope it is something simple that, for some reason, I just never saw.

If it's something completely owner, then I guess I can go along without the cd player. It's not like I need for what these days - but would of course I would powered it so it is an option.

Help at all or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Specs below:

    Kupchr36, welcome to the forum.

The PSU is ATX standard.  You should be able to update without any problem.  However, until you decide to upgrade the video card, it should work fine.  There is a lot of power for OEM components.  Personally, I love the Corsair products.  They are lovers of quality at a reasonable price.

  • Equium A60 Power cutting in a few seconds

I have a laptop Toshiba A60, but recently, after a Windows crash with blue screen of death, I was unable to feed the unit upwards again. The first time, he reported a problem with a cable PXE and hung when I tried it again running and stopped. No screen, no MESSAGE, nothing. Now when I press the power button, it turns on for 2-3 secconds then turns off. Everyone you have suggestions for this problem?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Chris,

This type of behavior usually occurs due to overheating and an internal thermal trigger off the power to avoid damage to the unit. usually this will reset after a few minutes. The soultion long-term is to clean the heatsink CPU spreads debris (use a vacuum hose against the bars of suction air).

If the power LED flashes while there may be problems with the laptop itself and you will need to refer to an authorized Service partner to have checked out it.

The reference to a cable PXE would indicate that the unit had failed to find a bootable hard disk OS or a CD/diskette tried to boot from a connection to the local network. As the normal convention is to boot from a hard disk first, this may indicate a problem with your hard drive, but despite this, you should always be able to turn on the laptop and access the BIOS.

    Hello

I think that it s very difficult to locate the fault on the motherboard if you have no experience and no additional info on the motherboard.
I think you should take the laptop to the technician who has more experience.

In my opinion it s dangerously to solder something on the Board if you n t know how to do.
You could damage it more on the Board!

  • Equium A60-155: a few questions about the memory

    Heya everybody,

I recently studied an upgrade of memory see Soulseek cause BSOD on my machine because of that I think it's "not enough memory". I have 256 MB ddr (64 of which goes to the graphics card which is a pain) aboard and I know I have 1.2 GB on board senior. My questions are:

    1. how many slots memory are there on the motherboard?

2 if I wanted to buy a memory chip that is should I choose; 184 pins or 200 pins? I could not know that one is my chip of 256.

    3. I found a few sellers on ebay who sell 1 GB chips (pc2700 200 pins), a chip of the United States won't work on my laptop without any problem of "tension"?

    Thanks in advance

  • Equium A60-199: question on the colors of the button power/powerlight

I was wondering if someone could explain why the power button on my Equium A60-199 changed from its usual blue to a Pink/Purple mix, and also why usually green power light on the front of the laptop has changed to amber.

    Thank you.

If the powerbutton is Pink/Purple and your amber powerlight, that means that your machine is in mode. This happens usually when the computer has been configured with a power that leaves your machine goes mode sleep after using only not in a period of time.

Or you have vista and click on the button in the Startmenu which supposedly should stop the machine but rather switch to standby.

    That's all.

  • Equium A60 - defective power cable

The power supply for my laptop began to divide and although I have wrapped in insulating the split tape, it still does more. Annoyingly, the separation is the wire that connects the computer (which is attached to the battery), so I think they're pretty difficult/expensive to purchase.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

they are not very expensive, this site-> http://www.pcupgrade.co.uk/productdetails.asp?ProductID=3146&categoryid=368 wants only 40 pounds for a such AC, so if you use "Google.com" and type 'Equium A60 Ac adapter', you will get many results on adapters CA / CC for Equium A60... :)

  • Equium A60 - question AC adapters

    Hi all

My Equium A60 keep blowing the power supply.
He blew 4 far - 2 were cheap garbage but 2 have been marked should be reliable.

I recently upgraded to 1.25 GB ram and improved the 60 GB to 80 GB HD and it was overheating and cutting.

Would this put the laptop to blow the adapter?

    Geoff

    Hello

This model of laptop is quite old and who knows in what conditions the material. Have you ever cleaned?

Upgrade should not have a negative influence. Overheating means the laptop cannot be cooled properly. In most cases the cooling rack and cooling vents are blocked by dust.
So I'm afraid it's time for professional cleaning.

Adapters I can't say much but be careful about this. Don t do some experiments. Protect yourself and protect the area where you use Notepad. the best way to do it is to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer. they should check the laptop to see what's wrong here.

  • Equium A60-157 will not power

    Hi people!

Could someone offer a bit of expertise and tell me whether or not the series Equium A60 - 157 has a center pin in its socket? I need to know that my laptop doesn't have one and it will not power! I'm deeply frustrated because I paid at the time £999 and it doesn't work!

I have a feeling that the PIN has cracked and is now part of my dc adapter but I need to be sure before I get it fixed!

Also if this is the case anyone Kow how much it may cost to do fix an indicative maybe!

    Cheers for your help!

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

Yes, I think the A60 use an outlet that has a central pin. The CAP at the end of the head of the AC must have a central hole. You can find that the spindle broke and is now stuck in the plug on the power cord. This is not a rare event on the series of satellites, laptops.

The bad is more Servicers will simply replace the motherboard (where the socket is together) rather than perform a repair to the component level. It is obviously a costly option for you, but is probably more faster/easier for the repairman.

I have, in the past, tried unsuccessfully to find a source for the plug for my A30 (just in case) but I only managed to find a supplier who could provide a component of second hand provided by a junk motherboard. :-(

  • HP ENVY PHOENIX CTO 810-135QE - 600 watts power supply Question

In the near future, I would like to upgrade the video card in my desktop HP ENVY PHOENIX CTO 135QE-810 GT 640 default to something a little more powerful and I was wondering if there is any details about the default 600 watts power that will help me in my decision to the next video card.

I know that some video cards require a number of amps on the 12 volt rail and all the information that I have found previously on the power of 600 watts power supply in the computer is not in that kind of detail.

What I read, the power is a Petrus 600W e-star 5.0 Bronze, HP Part number 633186-002.

Any additional details and details on this power to help me determine the next video card would be useful.

On a side note the video card, I'm currently doing is one of the next Nvidia GTX 750 TI models, thoughts and recommendations on this specific map?

    Thank you

    JCOOPER2

    Hello

Your PC has UEFI bios, so most video cards should work.  Some video cards will work in UEFI mode and others in legacy mode, that your PC is able to run.

When the manufacturer of the video card and/or AMD or NVIDIA specify a minimum power supply size then it is best to stick to this recommendation.  Not all power supplies are built to the same standards of quality.  In addition the internal components, temperature, charges unknown and time that the PC will be placed under the maximum load are taken into account at the recommendation of minimum power supply is indicated.

I have not seen a power of 500 watts with 12v rating of 18A, but this does not mean that there is not. And if that's the case, then the total power rating is suspect. A video card that requires an external auxiliary power connector will also draw power from the PCI-E slot.

Are there cases where the minimum size of the power supply is insufficient? Yes, those who might be extreme but someone can have connected to power different connectors either to avoid buying a new power supply or maybe around just the food manufacturer minimum power rating. Some may do it thinking 'I'm going on fox the Fox ". It can work, but maybe the questions later start occurred.  I prefer to get the job done right the first time. You don't need a power supply to perhaps of overload and short circuit then internally causing spikes to the components in the PC.

I took to a local repair place, he said, it would cost more to fix this, so I should really find it useful laptop only think about recover my data.

Is it really so hard to fix these things?
How hard is it to make the hard drive out, & how would then access down my data?

    Thank you
    Dave

    Hello

    > I took to a local repair place, he said, it would cost more to fix this, so I should really find it useful laptop only think about recover my data.
I agree with the authorized service provider. My personal opinion is that it s a malfunction of the motherboard and it is a very expensive part. Besides, Equium A60 is pretty old model so it would be better buy you a new laptop and recover your data.

    > How difficult is it to make the hard drive out, & how would then access down my data?
It of not difficult, but I m really wondering why you need access to these data. You don t have a backup? In my opinion the backup is the most important thing you need to do on a computer.
Anyway, normally on the underside of your laptop there is a HARD drive cover which is guaranteed by one or two screws. You must remove this cover and then you can see the HARD drive and you're able to remove it.
Also buy an external HARD drive enclosure where you can install the HARD drive. Then you can connect it to another computer to back up your data. ;)

  • Equium a60 - 155 and ac power

Hi, wonder if anyone can help me.

    I have 2 questions.

    (1) I charged the battery last night and left in the laptop from one day to the next, with the laptop turned off. This morning, I ran out of battery, and he said I got 97% battery and less than 2 hours of running time. My question is would it be of rejected in the course of the night? The battery is supposed to last 3 hours. In addition, the battery should be left in when the laptop is not used, or does it take to preserve memory?

    (2) currently, I use the laptop power AC, with the battery off. The charging light has gone green, which indicates that he is responsible. The manual advises removing the battery if you use the power supply to avoid damage - is there a way around that, it's pretty annoying to keep taking the battery everytime I want to use this

    Can anyone help
    Sorry it was long!
    Sam

    Hello

As far as I know the battery is important for the backup battery. It is also possible that your battery may be empty after a few days if the laptop is not in use. I read somewhere that it is possible that battery may 15% loss of capacity during the night.

If you are working with current alternative, you can remove your battery. I also do the same thing. I know, it's may be complicated, but there is no other way except laptop battery.
