Equium L20: memory of 192 MB instead of 256 MB and slow

I have an Equium L20, which is less than a year and began to run very slowly. It registers only 192 MB of memory, wherever it is physically a 256 MB chip in the machine. Is it because of the graphics card or is the problem why the laptop going really slow?

I'm going to contact the support team to get this fixed under warranty

Hello

Believe me, that the lower value of the memory is not a fault.
Because you have acquired in your ad the 192 MB of RAM are related with the graphics card. I guess your laptop supports supported a shared memory graphics card and as a result, you get a lower central memory. The graphics card uses the 64MB of main memory. (256 64 = 192 MB)

If everything is ok with your laptop and I think that the laptop is a bit slower because of many applications that are installed on your laptop, or processes that are run in the context of the BONE.

Hi I just bought an Equium L20. First time I had a Laptop. In the card it says 256 MB memory. But when I checked the system it says I have 192 MB. Where's the other the 64 MB? Or am I just drive I thought.

    Hello

you really have to 256 MB of memory. But for the moment, your laptop uses only 192 MB, because the other 64 MB are used as additional video memory to the graphics card.

By the way, you should be thinking of an upgrade of memory, 256MB is not so.

  • Re: Equium L20 - memory upgrade question

    Hello

I have a L20, which I have the honour to upgrade the memory.

Could you please tell about the amount of ram I can install, type (ddr, ddr2), speed (6400 etc.), and the type of connector (dimm, so-dimm) and how many sticks it may take or any other things that I would need to know?

    Many thanks for any help

  • Equium L20-198: keyboard forgets to put the letters here and there

My laptop Toshiba Equium L20-198 plays up. The keyboard sometimes seems to be a bit lazy and forgets to put the letters here and here. It seems to be worse when you type faster; is this a driver problem? If yes where can I update keyboard drivers?

There seems to be none on the toshiba site. If it is not a driver issue - what is the problem?

    Any ideas anyone?

Don t think that this issue was caused by a defective keyboard driver.
I read some of the comments in this forum on similar keyboard problems on different laptops and especially BIOS update has solved a similar question.
I recommend to check and compare the version of the BIOS of your laptop computer with the version on the Toshiba page.
If it s a newer version then try to update the BIOS, but be careful!
Don't forget to use the good BIOS and the proper procedure because wrong BIOS can damage the motherboard.

    Hello
Ive just bought Toshiba L20-267 and he must have 256 MB of ram but the property system shows that it is only 192 MB of ram.
Why is this? Can anyone explain that?

    Hello

As suggested by the applicant above, the laptop uses shared memory graphics card.
This graphics card use a part of the main memory (64 MB)
This is why the memory value is 192 MB 256-64 = 192 ;)

everything goes well on you laptop

If the RAM is supposed to be 256 MB, why the verification of diagnosis displays 192Mo?

Because of the graphic card of memory shared. Seems your laptop computer and shared 64 MB graphics card supports and shares part of the main memory

    -Windows® XP Home Edition

-Drive DVD Super Multi (Double Layer)

    Issues related to the:

    1. How can I remove the existing memory? Is there a guide of the user on this operation?

    2 How many slots have?

    3. What is the max memory per slot?

    4. can I buy Toshiba memory directly?

It is rather urgent and would like a quick answer.

    Thanks in advance
    Rag99

    Hi mate.

As far as I know your laptop supports two memory locations.
They must be placed at the bottom of the unit.
If you n t know how to change this then I recommend consulted the user manual!
The manual can be downloaded from the Toshiba European page.
I think that the laptop can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. So, you can use 1 GB of RAM in one slot.

PS: you must use the RAM DDR2 PC2-4200 memory - 200pin modules

  • Upgrades memory battery/Equium L20-264

    Hello

I want to improve memory my equium l20-264 to the maximum which is about 2G I think and I was wondering what parts of memory I need to do this? He currently heads the 256 MB standard, but I'm not sure if I need to replace that with a higher memory 256 AND get a new one to compensate for the amount or if I can buy a souvenir that will do the job. Is also editing them something that I can do myself or should I consider somewhere for them to do?

The other thing is the battery life is only 1.5hours and hoped to obtain a superior capacity for her battery? Anyone know if I can do it and so what battery need and how long it lasts?

    Thanks in advance

    GATS

    Hi the GATS.

Your laptop has two banks of memory (usually accessible by a small flap on the bottom of the unit). He must have a slot in use at present with a 256 MB card installed. New RAM modules are available in sizes of 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB so to get all of the 2 GB, you will need to replace the 256 MB card existing with 2 X 1 GB modules.

The site of Toshiba UK lists all the options that are available for your model (!), but I found the options available on the following web - site: -.

    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=20877&ft=m&St=3

I don't think it will be possible to install an additional capacity for your laptop battery and 1.5 hours you CITIES seem just to me for this model.

    Kind regards

  • Equium L20-264: can I mix memory

Thank you all for the information about upgrading memory on the Equium L20. This I have to have 2 of the same (for example to buy an another 256) where can I buy a 1 GB and while maintaining the current 256. Or do I have to buy two 1 GB.

    Hello

You must not have two identical RAM module. You can mix. I recommend you put slot A and smaller cotyledon in slot B.

By the way: compatible memory for your device are
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

  • Upgrade memory on Equium L20

I received an Equium L20 as a gift last year. About a month after getting it going, it was very, very slow. It turns out it was sold to me with only 256Meg RAM - not even enough for XP run!

I am based in the States now and sent THREE different updates by a 'good reputation on the line memorystore"which none have set up properly...

L20 forum claims that I need:

    PC-4200 DDR2 - 533 SO DIMM

Is this correct? I'm sure that the existing memory reads PC2700...

The problem seems to be that although the memory card aligns OK, the side grooves on each side that hold in place do not line up with the arm in the memory slot.

Can anyone help? Please, I beg you!

    Thank you

    Dave

    Hello

According to the specification you can upgrade with 2 GB RAM max. A slot is empty and then you can put the extra RAM module. Maybe the best solution is to put module with more capacity in the slot A and 256 MB of RAM in slot B. Compatible modules are:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)

    Good bye

  • Equium L20: instead of 1.25 GB only 1 GB is recognized

    Hello world.
Newbie here so please, be gentle. I have a laptop equium L20 its perfect for my needs, but with only 256 MB of ram that it was a little slow, so I upped the memory with a stick of 1 GB and wow its great.

Now, the problem, I left in the 256 module so I should have about 1.25 GB, but the 1 GB stick is recognized.
I tried swapping round modules in slots, but not lucky that I have the latest version of the bios and no still no chance.

I've seen other users on this site exactly the problem, but they do not say they have found a solution. I wish that at one point to take it to its maximum that is to say 2 GB but I am reluctant to do if it does not recognize another stick. hope some of you wonderful peeps can troubleshoot a lady. Heres hoping.

PS was in contact with the provider memory and they recommended the ddr voltage in the bios?

Welcome to our small community Janine

Yes, it's very strange and my first idea was a BIOS update, BUT I see that you already have.
I put t know which modules you use, but I think that there is a compatibility issue. I would recommend using the same two modules and recommended by Toshiba!

  • Equium L20-192: is one detailed record on processor?

I have an Equium L20-192, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the PLL not. that is ICS 956774, also if there is anyway to upgrade the processor, is possible to get one put a faster machine? All Information, does everyone think is also relevant would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

Unfortunately, I can find no PLL no information but AFAIK the Equium L20-288 was shipped with the processor Intel Celeron-M (Dothan) 360 1.4 GHz.
I also read in this forum that the upgrade of the CPU is not possible because of some reasons. The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package).

  • Equium L20 - 192 battery/compatibility UK to the us.

Hello, apologies, having problems to post a new message.

I have an Equium L20-197, the battery does not work and it runs directly on the sector.

Can anyone help the following applications:

I'll be able to buy a spare battery?

I intend to go to the United States, I would be able to buy a power cable that would work in the USA?
I tried to use UK USA adapters for Chargers of phones etc, but they never seem to work.

I currently use a dongle, I would be able to use a dongle using a provider of the United States?

    Thank you very much

    Paula

    > I'll be able to buy a spare battery?
Why not. Remove the battery, check the number of PA it and use it for the new order of the stack.
I'm sure Googling around you'll find an online store in your country where you can order a new one.

I think you can use batteries PA3420U-1BAS and PA3420U-1BRS with your Equium L20.

As far as I know you don t need new adapter sector but UK adapter USA.

    Hello world

Can I do my Equium L20 - 197-run faster? I am not very good with pc - then do me in terms simple, lol

    Thanks in advance

    M

    Faster?
Well, you can try to upgrade the memory on your laptop and you can also try to disable some unnecessary background processes which lose many remedies of CPU and memory.

But that's all you can do.
You are unable to spend the CPU or GPU (graphics card) on the laptop. It is not possible.
