Equium L40 - 17 M - deleted DVD player

Hi all

I have a problem with my computer and I was wondering if someone could help. I think I should have removed a pilot by accident, I use to be able to burn with the cd.rw music but I don't find either this drive use more.

The only drive that appears now when I go to burn some music is Pioneer dvd - rw dvr-k17a ata device or image recorder. I tried many things to try to fix this, but nothing seems to work, including systen restore and use of disk recoverey product, who just erased all my files!

I would be very grateful if someone could help in this matter

Hey Buddy,

To be honest I don t understand what you mean, because your ad is a little confusing... Have you read this again after the announcement here in the forum?

I put t know where you checked the readers but Pioneer seems to be the CD/DVD drive so I put t understand where is the problem.

What program do you use to burn disks and what OS is installed?

Well, a few months back, I tried to install the game SPORE. As I put the game in my portable CD player, it makes a terrible noise, which freaked me out and made me remove the game never to install it again.

Quick transfer to a month or more later, I read about a program called Securom break peoples CD players.
I had not thought much of it, until I noticed that more and more of my records would not load, stupidly, I just it shrugged off tension and don't think much about it (I use this laptop in my classes so I have time to send it took off for repairs) had a bad experience with my old laptop when he disappeared for 4 months).

Today however was the last straw, I need to restore my system, he was a bit lazy and I just felt like if it was time to clean up and start again only to find when I insert my restore disk my CD player will just not load, I have it cleaned, done everything nothing starts from it.

I tried to restart, and then start the CD by pressing C, just a white screen. Nothing loaded, I actually had the disc just to make my laptop to load windows.

I'm quite annoyed because my year warranty went out last month. I know that CD players are difficult to replace so I'm worried, I can do.

Do toshiba repairs out of warranty?

    Hello

Yes, the Toshiba authorized service partner in your country could replace the CD/DVD drive, even if the warranty has expired.
Of course, you pay for the replacement if the guarantee is not valid

  • CD/DVD player open on its own - Equium L40

    Hello

I have a laptop Equium L40-10 X recently purchased from Pc World. It has been working fine until recently my reader of cd/dvd broke open on its own. I closed it and then about 10 minutes later he did it again. This happens from time to time. After some research I found that it could be a problem of spyware. Scanned and deleted all traces etc. Problem seemed to have disappeared, but alas, the disc once more burst open.

Recently the drive does not read disks as well. It seems to work when it wants at any time from 10 seconds up to an hour at a time. Things became an own mind... and when it doesn't, the button to open the player doesnâ? t seem to work. I have to use a paper clip to open the player.

I have a laptop haunted or there is something wrong.

Did someone has had an experience of something like it before or give me advice on what to do?

    Thank you, Jon.

    Hi mate

I didn't noticed anything like this before, but I assume that it s a mechanical problem.
Don t think that 3rd party software (program, spyware, virus, etc.) could cause this problem.
In addition, you said that the drive does not read disks as well.

In this case, I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country and ask for the disc and if necessary audit for a replacement disk WEIRD.

If the warranty is valid replacement should be done for free.

    Best regards

  • Equium A100-147: can not play games becauce slow DVD player

    Hello

I have a laptop Equium A100-147. I tried many games on my laptop which should conform to the specifications required for example battlefield 2, however, these games does not work and I didn't know why. I then realized that all the games I tried were all on 4 DVD-ROM drive demanding x, and the specifications I provided with my laptop did not specify what kind of DVD player, I had another super multi layer or something.

It is while I tried the games that were demanding CD-ROM which all worked fine, I then tried a game that was 2 x DVD ROM demanding that worked apart from a small problem with models of characters not displayed, so I took back defective. Then I tried a 1 x DVD-ROM game that worked perfectly.

Today, I decided to get my DVD specifications, where I found that my laptop should read 8 x DVD - ROM drives.
So my question is, is my defective DVD player for not playing more than 1 x DVD - ROM games? And can I contact Toshiba or my provider for repair or replacement or my problem would be something else?

    Thank you, Josh

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop was delivered with the drive UJ - 841S and the drive supports 8 x DVD-ROM.
Of course, there must be something wrong if the drive cannot read DVD-ROM media at full speed. The middle is not supported or the drive malfunctions

What you can do is search for the update of the firmware. Many laptops come with the same drive. See the categories of driver and, possibly, there is a new update of the firmware.

You can also try to remove the physical drive from the laptop and reboot the device without the drive. Then turn off the appliance, install the drive again and the boot upward.
The laptop must initialize the firmware again and maybe this will help

But it seems you notebook is not very old and the warranty is valid. If you need to contact the ASP in your country for more details and possibly for disc replacement

  • DVD player accidentally disabled and deleted

I think I uninstalled/removed my DVD player. I clicked on device delete icon Add on my toolbar and for some reason any it uninstalled/removed the DVD player completely, as if my computer is not a hard drive and now the DVD player will read not all discs. I tried to go to the properties of the material to do the turn, but it does not appear there. It's as if I removed it completely. Short of a reinstallation of everything, what can I do to restore the functionality of the DVD player?

I use a laptop HP Pavilion DV4-1265dx using windows 7.

    Hello

First, try the automated Microsoft fixit at the link below.

    Windows 7

Check if the drive works now.

If it still does not work, click on the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

Then, click on the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When the device has been uninstalled click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it works now.

    Kind regards
