  Hi all

  I've had my laptop Equium M50 - 235 for about 4 years now and although it's a bit slow :( I was wondering if anyone can suggest ways to make it faster because I don't want to buy a new laptop due to lack of money.

  It is 256 RAM and 1.7 GHz, 40g hard drive... Can I put them all?
  Advice & tips are welcome!

  You are right. The unit has 2 slots to upgrade memory.
  The locations of memory, you will find at the bottom of the unit. Usually, you should see 2 slots.

  However, as I was putting the keyboard at the rear, the ribbon cable has pulled away from the motherboard and even if I pushed

  First of all, once you unscrew the keyboard, open the clip that secures it in place and reinstall the keyboard by ensuring that it is completely down. After that, now the flat cable in place, close the clip. Then, make sure that it is not lost and that it is seated correctly. Then turn on the laptop and see if it works. If this is not the case, try an external keyboard. If an external keyboard does not work, the keyboard on your MB controller is dead and you need a new MB. If an external keyboard works then your keyboard is dead, or the connector on the MB is dead. Best way to test is to try the first solution. If it doesn't work, take it to an ASP so they can try another keyboard for your laptop. Good luck.

  I have a laptop Equium M50-192 with the HDD 60 GB MK6021GAS inside.
  Does anyone know if I can improve it with the hard disk of 120 GB MK1646GSX.

  I found the site http://www.storage.toshiba.eu and I checked the two discs; but I don't know if the MK1646GSX disk has a compatible interface type.
  I am confused about the differences between ATAPI/IDE (60 GB MK6021GAS) and Serial ATA (120 GB MK1646GSX).

  Basically can anyone tell me if the 120 GB MK1646GSX will work instead of the 60 GB MK6021GAS?

  There is a big difference between the IDE HDD and the SATA HDD interface!

  Equium M50 supports the IDE interface and only IDE hard drives are compatible.
  You can use a HARD drive that supports IDE ATA-6 interface.

  In addition, you should know that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported.
  In my opinion the 120 GB should be ok but it s just my personal suggestion. You know? ;)

  Hi there, I was wondering what HARD drive I can get for my laptop A30-303 because the old is dying today being a machine for 4 years, so I would like to upgrade. Y at - it a maximum size of the machine, or I can put in any size of HARD drive?

  As far as I remember the Satellite A30-303 PSA30E series came with a 60 GB 4200 RPM HARD drive.
  The laptop supports the Enhanced IDE (ATA-5). This means that you need to use the HARD drive that supports an IDE interface!

  But note; not all HARD drive sizes are supported. There is a BIOS HARD disk size limitation.
  I'm not sure on the compatible HARD disk sizes but in my opinion, you should be able to use 80 GB, 100 GB of maybe too.

  As I m wrong not the laptop does support IDE and NOT SATA controller.
  If you want to upgrade the HARD drive, then you need to use an IDE HDD!

  I recommend to use max 120 GB HDD, because it might be possible that larger size of HARD drive will not be recognized by the BIOS.

  Im having "problems" with reading DVD and CD on the DVD/CD drive internal on my Equium M50-192
  During playback of the DVD images stutter and the audio is slightly out of synchronization with the video. During playback of the CD, it is slowly changing.

  Have you tried different actors (Nero, Intervideo etc.) and all seem the same.
  Have also tried an external drive and it seems to solve the problem for 99% of the time with the DVD (always get the occasional stutter) and CD plays OK.

  Anyone have any ideas?

  I have a tecra S3-PTS30-E, which came from the company, I work for which was no longer necessary.

  I replaced the current 40 GB with two different - hdd

  Western Digital 250 GB WD2500BPVT

  Toshiba 120 GB - MK1252GSX

  I tried both separately and windows XP pro service pack 3 will not recognize either.

  I have downloaded the driver sata toshiba Web site and installed via F6 at startup, windows asks you what driver, windows 2000 or XP, I click on XP and you enter, windows continues until advising so none found HDD

  I also tried to download drivers intel after searching other threads, and it does not work through floppy.

  I also added the drivers toshiba XP ISO using nlite to create a disk slipstream and while xp is loading the disc, I noticed 'pilot toshiba raid' being installed. Same no result no hard drive found.

  Your laptop's Ide interface, as far as I know on the old IDE interface there is a limitation of LBA 28 bits, which means that the laptop can only manage hard disks up to 128 GB.

  I have Equium M50-192, who suffered with this problem for some time. More often, looking at youtube. APPER of black lines on the screen and no response from the mouse or the keyboard. But the sound continues. In a few seconds - a blue screen on death! And then a reboot. I think its something to do with the graphics card. I changed and then returns to the original driver - same thing happens. Check the bios.

  Any ideas. Otherwise its time for a new laptop!

  Why do you think this has something to do with your graphics card? What is your personal feeling or do you have made specific for this?

  Without BSOD STOP code it s hard to say why this is happening. Blue screens can have much reason to also check your RAM and HARD drive using the special tools such as Memtest86 and Drive Fitness Test.

  Hi, I have an Equium M50 and the problem is when I use the dvd out (s-Video on the side) I get desktop on the tv, but when I try to play a dvd or video clip he plays great on the laptop screen, but all I get on the screen is a black screen.   I have an Equium M50 - 164 and a router and a Netgear wireless modem. When you use the wireless internet and navigation to various web pages, my browser tells me often that the "server not found". My wireless signal is "Excellent" and it does not physically lose the connection, as it is still showing as connected in the system tray.
