I tried to install age of empire III on my computer windows 7, but I got an error until I had to even insert the key (ERROR 1603 consult windows help install (msi.chm) or MSDM for more information). I tried to enter in the files and run the setup.exe as an administrator, but it did not help.
Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?
AoE3 is fully compatible with Win7 and I had no problem at the facility, but it may not be compatible with
your graphics accelerator if it's an older 'integrated' graphics chip.
(This should show a different kind of error message, but sometimes Windows spits a seemingly unrelated error message.)
Try to post on AOE3 forums below. There may be someone who has had the problem with the installation of the game-

Help (MSI.chm) Windows Installer error
I am trying to load a program, and the following error appears:
Error 1334. Cannot install the file '_A36AE8CB230BD52BA1F067E40A56B67A' because the file is not found in the file 'DATA1.cab '. This may indicate a network error to an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
When I clicked ok, a second box poped in reading:
"Look at the window install help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
I went to System Configurations and checked to see if "Windows Installer" has been loaded. This is the case! I have to update my Windows Installer? If Yes, where can I find it.
Thank you
Carlos
Hmm, if a download, it seems that it is maybe corrupted. You can download it again? You may need to contact that company directly because it looks more like a problem with the source file for a problem with Win7. Bob Larson Access MVP

Hello
This problem may occur if the SYSTEM account does not full control permissions on the folder that you are trying to install the Windows package to install to. You notice the error message because the Windows Installer service uses the SYSTEM account to install the software.
I'd download CyberLink CLCleaner tool from the following link and install the program.
http://www.CyberLink.com/support/product-FAQ-content.do?ID=14845&prodId=186
If the problem persists, you can get in touch with the Support of CyberLink or HP support for help.
Keep us informed on the status of the issue.

I get an error message, the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if Windows Installer is not installed properly. Is there any solution for this? Also I can't find service.msi. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. Any help I can get for this will be appreiated. System restore not working anymore. Carolyn Stallings
Always, always, first specify what operating system you are using before you begin to explain the problem.
Try this tutorial. It works for Vista and Win 7.

I'm not able to go to iTunes or watch videos on my program Corel due to an error in Quick Time. It keeps telling me that I need to improve my Quick time and when I tried it wouldn't let me so I tried to remove it and couldn't because of an error and then I came here to get the Windows Cleanup utility and who eventually removed the program out of my control panel and I thought that would fix it but it didn't and now it gives me this message. What should I do now?
Ok!
This problem occurs in all applications in all environments such as Windows XP, Amiga and Windows 7. I have only my current computer with Windows 7 64 bit related to the problem. After following suggestions to cure the problem without success, I read the error message that displayed the MSI being read in C:\Windows\Installer. There is no such MSI placed in this directory. SO to solve the problem, you must put some Apple msi installation which gives the error message in the C:\Windows\Installer directory. Just drag it directly into the directory. Do not use any subdirectory. If your don't have a copy of the MSI, you can extract it from the EXE installer with a program like WinRar. My problem was with iTunes to bleed the system looked like this C:\Windows\Installer\iTunes64.msi. Run the MSI file or the original from Apple download. It worked for me as expected if you give it a try. -

Thank you, Jeanne Vecere
You could try to go to the MICROSOFT website, go to KNOWLAGE database and in the search bar, try the search for WINDOWS INSTALLER. Look for any version that is newer than the one you have. If this fails, try searching on GOOGLE. You can also try to do an update to WINDOWS VISTA.
IF YOU ARE RUNNING 64-BIT WINDOWS, MAKE SURE YOU PRINTER WORKS WITH 64-BIT.

I found the site below and thought of your situation. Here is the message I received:

Scroll all to halfway to the bottom of the page. Search for Microsoft Customer Support (Joan, Technical Support, Live Essentials):
Note: For the Windows Installer Cleanup utility, I downloaded from this link (you'll want the latest version whenever you get - 2.5.0.1):

I tried to install a program and I got an error message that says "Windows Installer" is not installed correctly and I need to contact the support staff. I get also a message when I log that says steetings.ini is occupied by another program and it will not allow the sidebar to come.
Try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to troubleshoot the problem with Windows Installer:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml.
For the issue of the Sidebar, do a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem. Follow the procedures described in the article. Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall. Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!
