  I did a system restore until the problem occurred first to rule out any changes to the system.
  The problem occurred again.
  This means that my Sync Center shows none of my synchronization partnerships.
  Can anyone suggest the setting or service that must be corrected to solve system error 31 problem?

  Unless you write your own drivers for XP and using the Windows Driver Foundation Service to help you debug, you can disable the WDF Service.  It will be one less point to start your system and will not not just sitting there working day and night with nothing to do.

  On some systems, if WDF is activated, you can begin to see some errors of svchost.exe like this:

  Application error: the instruction at "0x7c91b21a" referenced memory at "0x00000010". Memory could not be "written".

  The best solution for this problem is: disable the WDF Service.

OK, I support and develop custom applications. An older application especially written in Delphi allows users to attached documents (pdf, jpg, txt, etc.) to the records of equipment in a data base. Later users can view these records of equipment and press a button to display the document.

  When the user presses the button to view the document, the application uses the folder variable to save the document to the temporary path and then asks windows via a shell command to open the file. The appeal of Delphi for windows used is the following:

  Normally this process works very well, we have had no problems so far. On a single computer (windows xp pro with Service Pack 3) belonging to a client, instead of opening the file, windows returns the system 31 error and the message ""a device attached to the system is not functioning.   I can't get the service to start on my winxp sp3 pc event log. I have tried everything I know:

  • Running sfc/scannow
  • Reset permissions
  • Search for malware and viruses
  • Rebuild the WMI
  • Create a new account
  Nothing seems to work, I think that this is related to an error in hardware/device, but I see no problem in Device Manager. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this resolved? I don't really want to have to format or restore my PC...

  I got exactly the same problem that drove me nuts for a long time. I found a solution, it's not elegant but it works and I would hope that there is another way.

  There is something on your screen resolution that do not like GTA, mine is1920 x 1080. I decrease the screen resolution in Windows 7 at 1024 x 768. I can then correctly enter the game. You can then choose your resolution you want in the graphics options.

  So I decided to work around the problem, I installed the operating system on a single hard drive, then I cloned the HDD for the RAID1.
  Everything seems to go well but... Update Windows and MSN Messenger will not connect, as having a problem of equality SID.
  If I clone the installation of work, everything works on a different disk included WIN UPDATE and Messenger.
