Error - 3rd slave drive ATAPI Incompatible press F1 to continue starting Windows.

Original title: 3rd slave ATAPI Incompatible drive.

When I turn on my computer, the stalls of process startup and says '3rd slave drive ATAPI Incompatible press F1 to continue' I press F1 and then esc because I don't know what to do.  When the computer does not start, the only thing that is not working is my CD drive.  It does not read the Cd I already tried the FIX for CD/DVD.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the disk set.  When I restart the computer and let the TI find it on its own, I get the same problem.  I tried a few system restores.  None of this has worked.  I don't know how it happened because some other people use this computer.  Could this be a problem with the plug-and-play functions.  Help please.  I am running Windows XP and have updated all Microsoft Update to see if it helped, it only has done it.

Hi RachelH_7997,

You can edit the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) settings or replace the CD/DVD drive and check if the problem persists. If you are not comfortable to run, you can contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

Note:
change BIOS / chipset can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/chipset can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Hope the helps of information.

    Hello

    1. What is the exact error message you get?

    Method 1:
I suggest you try the steps from the following link

Windows Vista or Windows 7 unbootable, and the Startup Repair tool does not resolve the problem
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/934540

Method 2: go to the BIOS (Basic Input Output system) Setup, & change the switch setting between AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) and IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics), SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) and the drive controller is restarted. If it solves your problem, the driver for the HARD disk (HDD) is corrupted.

IMPORTANT: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Method 3: Your hard drive is damaged to the point that it cannot even recognize that Vista has been installed on it. If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you can try running chkdsk to fix the HARD disk; you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc.

    a. Insert the installation disc and restart your computer.
    b. click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.
    c. If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see check the link for the BIOS: frequently asked questions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/BIOS-frequently-asked-questions

    d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    e. click on repair your computer.
    f. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    g. in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt
    h. type chkdsk /f / r and press ENTER.

    Important:
when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost

This will perform a disk check and perhaps recover the system. CHKDSK can repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, reticulate files and directory errors

  • Logical disk management does not recognize a slave drive

I installed an internal HD as a slave. The BIOS sees the drive, Western Digital Lifeguard sees the drive (it checks OK) with the appropriate drive letter, PMagic sees the drive before starting, but the logical disk manager does not recognize the drive or the drive letter.

Using Windows XP, SP3 with latest updates

    Hello

    1. The hard drive is recognized in another computer?

If this isn't the case, then the problem could be the hard drive itself. If he is found, then the problem is in your computer. In this case, run the diskpart.exe utility.

Use the list partition command and see if the partition is detected. If so, then I suggest you to format the drive in diskpart.

However, take a return of all data on the hard drive before the format by plugging it into another computer. Help with backup data, see

    Backup: what, how, where

    http://www.Microsoft.com/protect/data/backup/about.aspx

To use the Diskpart.exe utility, follow these steps:

    1. type diskpartand press ENTER to open the diskpart tool.

    2. type list diskand press ENTER. A list of available hard disks.

    3. type select disk =[n]

n s Specifies the number of disc the disc to receive the focus.

    4. type list partition

This command displays the partitions listed in the table to partition on the current drive.
    5. type select partition =[d]

This command selects the specified partition and gives it the focus.

d s Specifies the drive letter or mount point path of the partition to receive the focus.

    6. type format drive: / FS: NTFS/Quick

For more information about commands, see

A Description of the Diskpart command-line utility

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/300415

Now you should be able to see the slave drive in Solution Explorer.

    Hello

    1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    2. have you changed the BIOS boot device?

    3. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    This could be related to:

    · Startup options is not correctly defined in the BIOS

    · A non bootable CD is in your CD player

    · You don't have any boot device

    · You have installed a new hard drive

    · The hard drive is not properly connected

    · Your system files have been infected

Change the boot order in the CMOS (BIOS) settings so that your disc is the first in the list.

    a. restart the computer.
    b. new computers often display a startup (or boot) menu. In the start menu, choose "Configuration of the BIOS," or "BIOS settings," or something similar.

Procedures vary depending on the manufacturer of the BIOS. Usually, you must press a key (for example, F2, F12, DELETE, ESC) or a combination of keys immediately after you
turn on your computer but before Windows starts. If the Windows logo appears, you must try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer again.

    c. the BIOS configuration screen appears. On the BIOS Setup screen, choose the option called "Boot order" or something similar. Startup command settings can also be saved
under "Advanced settings" or something similar.
    d. Select your drive from DVD or USB drive as first boot device.
    e. restart your computer and see if the problem is resolved.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

  • Error 1327.Invalid Drive: G:\ during installation of the software

Original title: I'm trying to install Microsoft WSE 3.0.msi and I get error 1327.Invalid Drive: G:\

A program I had on my computer wouldn't work the other day when I tried it.  Help on software site says he uses Microsoft WSE 3.0 runtime and to make sure it was on my computer.  It wasn't that I downloaded and tried to install it and got the same message I have original received at the start of this process.

    Hey Bill,.

Try the steps of Miller - technician technical support of the http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/error-1327-invalid-drive-g-when-i-try-to-install-a/ccb3a5bf-9d38-4b1c-8f33-d6a53b1c1a36 link and see if that helps.

If the problem persists, try changing the drive letter G:\ to some other letter as a work-around.

    a. press the 'Windows' and 'R' at the same time and type "diskmgmt.msc" in the prompt to run it to open the disk management window.

    b. right click on the drive G:\ and select "Change Drive Letter and paths".

    c. to change a drive letter, click change, click on assign the following drive letter, click the letter you want to use and then click OK.

    d. restart the computer to ensure that the changes are applied.

You can also try the steps in the KB Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327763 article which has worked for some users with the installation of the software.

Note: The steps from the link will work for any installation of software/program that uses a disk. Because the steps deal with the registry editor, we recommend that you take a backup of the registry before performing the steps. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

  • Smart hard disk error: "Press enter to continue and it starts OK.

I have run chkdsk full and sometimes without error, but at startup it says Smart hard disk error. Press ENTER to continue and it starts OK

Go into the BIOS and run the drive Diagnostics (long version).

Normally, when you get a SMART disk error this means imminent disk failure.  Smart drive test checks the environment of hard disk and is much more than chkdsk thorugh.

A cautious soul would replace the disc if the diagnostic test is a failure.

Is your laptop still under warranty?

    Best regards

I've updated my computer by moving my XP OS on a slave drive and now have OS Win 7 professionals in the main C drive.

When I went to look for it for the location of the bookmarks in the XP slave drive, I couldn't find the places that were usually listed. I did the hidden files option. You simply don't know where my favorites are gone. I found the file modzilla and it contained everything except bookmarks.

The problem is resolved. I had to go through the XP mode in order to get the Json file which I need and bingo it brought back all my favorites. I used Cor - el solution with an extra step to solve this very specific problem through the XP mode.
