Portege R600 - Error 734 PPP Link Control Protocol resulted
We have a Toshiba Portégé R600-102 using an Orange 3 G SIM card configuration like a dial connection to * 99 # (APN: internetvpn) which works fine in Merseyside, however, as soon as our user takes it outside Liverpool (more precisely an hour outside on a trip to London by train) connection drops completely and does not allow the user restore the link giving the error 734 : The PPP link control has been terminated. If you use Toshiba wireless connections Manager it just says connection failed. The laptop won't re - connect to the 3 g network until the user is back near Liverpool?
I spoke to Orange on what originally advised me to change some settings in dial-up access, but this made no difference, tried to contact Orange again today, but told me that they don't support any other models other than laptops they provide with internal 3 g modems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, let me know if you need more information.

Can you suggest a few checks that can be performed to determine if the problem lies in the network or on my mobile bluetooth. Some suggestions to address this problem are also welcome.

Title: "error 638: the remote server is unresponsive in a timely way." What in the world is that supposed to mean?
I have known the above error (for 2 weeks now) whenever I try to connect to the internet via modem huawei e160. I have not installed any programs recently. I physically contacted my ISP and according to them, the modem works properly and that the problem is with my computer. A professional COMPUTER friend told me that he once experienced a similar problem and the solution in the end was re - install the operating system. I did as much with PC to get back that far. Someone please help coz it is a nightmare.
I had the same problem. And just uncheck the 'Operator operator-assisted' Option on the "Advanced" tab in the window 'Manage settings of the map' did the job. Try it. You will surely succeed.

Thank youYou can get in trouble with your device drivers, firmware and/or software. Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears. Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white? These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else). Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips. If you need to get the drivers (and you shouldat least make the modem and everything you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates). In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm. Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.
Try to uninstall and then reinstall the modem again. Remove the modem through Control Panel > phones and Modems, then uninstall the modem in Device Manager. Once the reboot is complete and it is reinstalled it should work (as long as you use the update of the above paragraph). Make sure that you uninstall in this order.
Are you sure that the modem is compatible with Vista and the rest of your system? What is the manufacturer, brand and model? You can find here:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-vista/.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

I can't access any web page either and I am connected but cannot access web... troubleshooting report indicates that the dns server is not responding.
Hi sandyrb,
- What is the error message when you try to access the internet?
- You use Internet explorer to access the internet?
- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- What is the type of internet connection you use?
- You have security software installed on the computer?
- How do you know that the computer is connected to the internet?
Method 1
Check if the problem persists in mode safe mode with network mode and post back with the result.
A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222
Method 2
If the problem does not persist in the safe mode with network, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

It uses a dongle mobile broadband with 3 for the internet, it is telling him that there is no network available, have tried to delete the connection and reinstalling the software, with no results, control of Device Manager, I noticed there is a yellow triangle against the network adapter?, opened the properties for him and he said he did not work properly because the drivers were not installed, but when I tried to search for them in windows coudnt find?, any help appreciated, thanks.
Hi thanks for the info, but he wasn't after all, network card when sp1 was installed, it has changed or blocked software for the mobile b/band, for someone who has the same problem, here is what you need to do.
1, got to control panel,
2, select programs and features.
3, uninstall ALL! entries to do with the mobile b/band, even the software for the dongle itself,
4, restart pc or laptop, plug in dongle and reinstall the software as if it were the first installation.
This information came from an agent of technical support 3 and worked a treat, no problems,
This procedure should work for all providers of mobile b/band
hope this helps :))

error message when I try to connect to the internet wireless
When I try to use the Internet, I get a message saying 'the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network. I don't know how to change the settings so that it works.
Hello
Your router could be suspicious here, you have successfully updated its firmware as a possible solution? And I would like to
Update your WiFi drivers on computers. How you are positioned in the router? Are there
obstacles in the path? Good luck that the router settings have changed, or maybe it was
reset - do you have other computers that connect to this router? You system connects to other
WiFi as a library, Starbucks or other sites?Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.
Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htmHow to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.htmlDownload - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.
You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.
After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version. (The
manufacturer of system become your backup policies).Repeat for network (NIC) card and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as Vista like
updated drivers.I would also turn off auto update for the drivers. If the updates Windows suggests a just HIDE as they
are almost always old, and you can search drivers manually as needed. How to disable automatic driver Installation in Windows Vista - drivers

Make sure you know the details of connection to your wireless router - SSID and password.
You lose connection when you do and have to redo your logon.
