Error 8000FFFF

Error 8000FFFF on update KB929777, tried to correct in regedit, it did not work

Two possibilities: a third-party program affects the Service of WU (programs anti-spwyare, Internet/web accelerators, programs of firewall/antivirus) or the downloaded file is corrupt.

Suggest that you rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to what you want. This will take care of all the corrupt downloaded files.

How to rename the software D folder in Vista - distribution agent version

1. stop the Windows Update service (make sure that you are logged on as administrator)

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
Double-click on Services
(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click on stop.

2. Click Start, type %windir%\System32 in the search box and press ENTER.

Find and rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.

3. start the Windows Update service

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
Double-click on Services
(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.

This procedure will erase your history on the Windows Update Site. Not important.

  • Windows Vista SP2 error: 8000ffff

    Hello!

    I recently uninstalled SP2 on my x 64 Vista (Home Premium) machine. However, Sidebar and IE no longer works, so I tried to reinstall SP2 through Windows Update. It downloaded and installed, but then threw me an error: 8000ffff. Then I tried to download the standalone installer from the Microsoft Web site. He gave me the same error. I tried to launch the Microsoft Support fix - it, but he did nothing. (I restart the computer). I tried to run the installer again, same results. I tried the instruction manual and fiddled with the registry, but no conflicting values were present. Help, please! I need SP2 back!

    Thank you!

  • Error 8000FFFF when you try to install the update

    I tried both options. First, I used Mr. Fix It and the response was that iupdate has been installed, the next day, I realized that is not true to fact. When I started the update of Windows Vista again, I got the same error 8000FFFF. This means that I n 't have the same update again. I tried the other option for the Proz tech and I did not succeed.

    What this means for me, Mr. Fix It Pro can not solve this problem, and as I am not a tech Pro, I can't fix either. What is the solution for this problem?

    Hi Nicole Maxim,.

    Follow the manual steps here if you have not already. If the problem is still not resolved, you can perform an InPlace upgrade to. This option allows to restore you current Windows installation to the default without interfering with your personal settings or installed programs.

  • Inefficient Windows Vista Update - Error 8000FFFF - solutions

    I recently reformatted my hard drive on my Dell Inspiron 1520 Windows Vista 32 bit and was trying to reinstall all my drivers and my os back to date; I was hoping to install sp1 and 2 that day. However, after several rounds of updates without any hitches, I met update KB29777, who introduces himself as important and seems inherent in the system in order to install the sp1, and at the same time, sp2. I can't solve the problem with Error 8000FFFF

    That's why my machine's own almost all of the errors with a new os and reformatted hd.

    I tried all the solutions proposed for me and more found on these forums including;

    Fix It utility, followed by restart;

    manually remove the 3 potentially corrupt registry values (which were not there because there is a new os);

    and even download the update manually from the Download Center microsoft and tries to install (which says that it has been a success, but obviously wasn't)

    Anyone wants to shed light on the issue?

    Cheers, Hugh Wright

    Hello

    1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
