If your PC is OEM that his pain, because you can only use recovery CD to restore the original state, which means that you must back up all data before restoring.

Most often this error 0 X 8007002 is related to the corruption of the file system that system preparation tool or SFC/scannow is not able to fix so the only option is step mentioned above (upgrade inplace or what we call previous repair installation)

If your computer has an OEM version (supplied with the computer) of Windows Vista, it is linked to the original motherboard and when you replaced the motherboard the license becomes invalid.  The only exception is if the original motherboard been replaced by or with the approval of the OEM (computer manufacturer) due to a failed motherboard and an exact match is not available.  It would then the OEM manufacturer to provide a license appropriate for the computer.
  • error code: 0 x 8007002

And then, when I ran Diagnostics from Windows update it returned with the error code: 0 x 8007002

Is there an easy solution?  Or should I take the long way around with a clean install of windows?  I have already re-set my internet browser explore once updated.

To see the list of Windows Update on your registry, please check the registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate. Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you must back up all the data that have been evaluated on the computer.

  • Backup error message 0 x 8007002

I get the above error message everytime I try a backup. I tried many things: restart Volume Shadow Copy, clean the system starts, and I checked the regedit for profile image paths. I think that this may be the cause of the problem. I couldn't find the ProfileList under Windows, but it's under Windows NT. The first three profiles were correct. The last four had no any ProfileImagePaths. I did not remove the such as described in the instructions. Can someone give me an idea of what I need to do? I also installed the system preparation tool and look for the missing updates. The only one who appeared was the upgrade of Internet Explorer 8.0 which I can't do right now because my school online does not support. I have not received an error regarding the installation of Windows updates.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

When you try to run a backup you simply by clicking on save or leave the race scheduled backup? Instead of doing this, try to create a new task of backup from scratch. If this does not work, try the backup to another location. Write back and let me know your results. Thank you, Jeremy M - Support Engineer

    Hello

What do you, what you see, where there are other error messages? Those
almost always solves this problem so is as shown. It is easy to miss one of the
images of profile or other parameters.

Make sure that the backup drive/device is available and try to copy files to and from it
    to ensure access is correct.<-- is="" the="" other="" common="">

If necessary try an InPlace upgrade/repair facility that allows to keep the
programs and data backups redundant but are always a good idea. Then try to use
the previous methods according to the needs.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).
