error 80070490 in Windows Vista

Hello

For several days, I have tried to correct and repair the error 80070490 Windows update.

No luck. Tools Microsoft Fixit and fix have bee run and both tell me that update components have been repaired. Still does not work!

-Location of window s update has been changed and must be repaired - is always necessary.

Update files indicates that no updates have been downloaded and the verification of updates does not. It worked so well until a few days ago

I have no disk with Vista recovery and pc refuses to perform a restore of a backup system. So what would be the next step?

Thanks if you can help as I am not pc savy

  • Error running in Windows Vista

I got a game installed on my Dell Inspiron 1525 and then all of a sudden it no longer works. I installed Odyssey Puzzle for a while now, but the other day I went to play and I get a runtime error of:

    Runtime error!

    Program:... f Odyssey\CradleofRome\CradleofRome.exe Month\Puzzle

This application has requested the execution to terminate in an unusual way. For more information, contact the application support team.

    Hi jplo1979,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

A runtime error is a software or hardware problem that prevents a program to function properly. Runtime errors could cause you to lose information in the file that you are using, causing errors in the file (corrupt the file) so that you cannot work with it, or prevent you from using a feature.

Runtime errors can occur if you are running two software programs that aren't compatible, if your computer has memory problems, or if the computer has been infected by malware.

To check the compatibility of a program, please see the Compatibility Center Windows Vista HERE. Your game software is not listed in the Windows Vista Compatibility Center, see this link HERE for frequently asked Questions and measures to address if the product you are looking for does not appear in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center.

After following the steps above, if a runtime error persists, try the steps in troubleshooting mentioned in the article, what is a runtime error?

    Hope this information helps you.

    Hello sheritaG,

Run The System File Checker utility:

To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search .
    2. Right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue
    3. To order invites, the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc)

This analysis may take some time to complete. When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

  • Cannot back up files on the error code get Windows Vista 0 x 80070002.

    Hello MS Personal Tech.

For several months now, I couldn't save anything on my Vista 32 - bit OS.
    I constantly get an error message: 0 x 80070002
whenever I try to backup Windows.
Obviously an important registry key is missing ("system
Cannot find the specified file. »)
    Here's the registry key, I need: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup
For some reason, this key, which should be there and once that should have been there.

    is no longer.
I used Malwarebytes, sfc/scannow, and then dskchk. Any report that everything is fine with my PC and the operating system!

    Dear Fahimulla K,.

I thank you very much for your very comprehensive answer and links provided.
I followed through and processed all the steps you offered by the
any MS links but after several hours of searching different remedies it has proposed, in the gaps.
All my Image profile within the registry paths are complete; nothing is missing.
I looked on support.microsoft.com/kb/979281 for suggestions and tried
to include all the or reflected one of the examples could be the culprit:
    I 'm trying to back up my files to an external drive (Western Digital);
but this is really nothing new.
A couple of years, I could
backup on external Lacie drive - but several months back Windows Vista Home Premium starts to give me this 0 x 80070002 error message (the system cannot find the specified file).
From the outset, Lacie has been plugged into a USB port without any problem.
I still don't understand why I do not have this specific file -HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup.
A site of MS actually admitted that Vista does not contain this special value!
I even bought "Free" Eusing registry because CNET gives a fine criticism.
I downloaded this tool but again, after what he done his tasks, I still could not back up my Vista rrecords.
So now I'll have to just use Easus ToDo backup, which I came
times before. For some reason, it does not seem difficult to
do what I expect to win. Vista to do.
But even once, thank you for your efforts, Mr. Fahimulla K, on behalf of my deranged OS.
    Respectfully,.
