Error 80070490 vista sp2 installation. SFC said CBS mum missing kb905866 - y at - it complete a simpler than a repair solution?

I'm having the same problem as others, i.e. a previous update failed during installation (power failure) and now Vista SP2 install it, complain about 80070490. Running sfc/scannow says I have 6 CBS MUM missing kb905866. Recommendation found Googling this problem from microsoft is to repair vista, requiring downloads of the entire suite of updates which will take ages!  Can't I just uninstall the KB or remove the registry entries for it or something to force it to be reinstalled?

  • Vista SP2 Installation fails (error 800706BE Code) via Windows Update

I am running Windows Vista Business (32-bit) SP1 and I noticed that Vista SP2 is available for download by manually checking in Windows Update last night.  After having seen that it is a large download (more), I started the download, left my PC and left the House.  When I got home, my screensaver was away and when I attamped my password to disable the screen saver and see where I was in the process of updating, my password did not work.  Then I did a hard reboot but then could not connect under my admin user account.  I've then logged in as my wife (standard user - no password) and went to Windows Update where I noticed that the SP2 for Vista Installation fails (error 800706BE Code).  I spent most of last night and all today so far tried to solve this problem.  There are several problems here... When I click on "Install" in Windows Update, I get a message of "is not necessary: 1 update" (even when I look in the installed updates it says that the update failed).  If it is not necessary, then why is it listed as an important update that must be installed?  Endless loop... In addition, I'm not a password reset for my connection because I have a password saved on a flash drive.  Then I tried using all the older passwords that I remembered and none worked.  Shift caps lock was not on either.  I've logged in as my wife, went to the Microsoft Download page and eventually find the link to download the standalone version of SP2 Vsita, but after downloading the massive file, I didn't have the right to install it because I can not connect as an adminstator!

(sigh) Can someone please help with this?  Thank you

    Naveen,

Thank you very much for your suggestions!  Your suggestion of restarting, press F8 and choose "repair your computer" worked.  I was able to do a system restore and I chose a date where my old password was still in use (I had just been invited to change a few days before I tried to download Vista SP2).  In addition to losing my cookies and automatically complete IE8 - everything is back to normal.  I have not yet tried a 2nd try to SP2, and I'm very hesitant to do it now!

    Thank you once again!

  • How to fix cryptographic stopped working error with Vista SP2

I get this error message on all 10 minutes.  At the beginning it was just an annoyance, but I just realized that I can't do updates, update my IE version and now, somehow really weird, some sites such as Gmail site, will not open in Internet Explorer (but they will be in Safari).

I tried to rename the Catroot2 directory, I tried to restart cryptographic several times just to get the error again and I scan SFC.  I had a file that could not be repaired called azroleui.dll.  I tried to download another copy of this dll, but even if logged in as an administrator, I can't move, delete to rename this file.
Any suggestions?  I'm afraid to try a reload of Vista in case this problem prevents me to do as well.

    Hello Sam980,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Forum!

You can try to access the command prompt in the Windows Recovery console and see if can remove Service Pack 2 manually from your computer. Here are the steps to remove Service Pack 2:

Open an elevated command prompt window.

Run the following command, depending on the version of the Windows Vista service that you want to uninstall:

For Windows Vista Service Pack 1:

    C:\temp\Windows6.0-kb936330-x86.exe x:C:\temp

Note This command assumes that the file Windows6. 0 - KB936330.exe folder is in the C:\Temp folder

For Windows Vista Service Pack 2:

    C:\temp\Windows6.0-KB948465-nnn.exe x:C:\temp

In this command, NNN is x 86, x 64, or IA-64. The collapse of this tableauAgrandir this tableNote that this command assumes that the file Windows6. 0-KB948465 - X 86 .exe is located in the C:\Temp folder.

We must create a sandbox environment before you can proceed to step 4. This allows you to manage safely an untrusted program. To create a sandbox, sandbox type md.

To remove the Windows Vista service pack, type or copy and paste the following command, depending on the version of the Windows Vista service that you want to uninstall:

For Windows Vista Service Pack 1

    start /w pkgmgr.exe /m:c:\temp\Windows6.0-KB936330-X86.cab /up s:sandbox

For Windows Vista Service Pack 2

    start /w pkgmgr.exe /m:c:\temp\Windows6.0-KB948465-NNN.cab /up s:sandbox.

    In this command, NNN is x 86, x 64, or IA-64.

Once Pkgmgr.exe completed, you are prompted to restart the computer to complete the uninstall.

If these steps successfully uninstall the service pack of Windows Vista, and this resolves the issue, you are finished. If these steps do not uninstall the service pack of Windows Vista, or if these steps uninstall the service pack but do not resolve your issue, you need to restore the system to a previous state.

To do this, go to method 3.

Here is an article that will give you different methods on how to remove Service Pack 2:

If this does not work, then you can try to run CHKDSK on your computer.

  • Windows Vista SP2 installation error loop (x 64) 0xc0190036 error number

Hello, after installing SP2, I constantly make the same mistake, the bad thing is, insteath to back off, the SP2 update keep trying on and again and again to change the file that contains an error (file checks! error 0 x 00190036 mshtml.tlb!).
now... I think that microsoft really screw them this time, because the installation program runs in any mode of windows, that is to say, cannot go to safe mode to attempt to recover from there, it's just again ONCE the attempt to install the sloppy SP2, restart the computer does nothing, as the update again will activate itself , so I always end up stuck in this part of the file with this error code mshtml.tlb (it continues to blink constantly as his try again and again access the file)

    Specs: Windows Vista SP1 Ultimate x 64
    GA - X 48 - DS4
    Q6600 @ 3 Ghz Kentsfield.
    4 x 2 GB (8 GB ddr2 800 Mhz)
    Sapphire Hd 3870
    2 x Western Digital Caviar (500 + 160 Gb) + Seagate 250 GB
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Zs

Previous mistakes: I could never install IExplorer 8, it still reported a similar error, but with the ieunit file (don't remember the exact file currently extension)

so the question is: will there be a fix for this problem? or do I just simply restore and try to recover manually in the hardway (Ie, run the Vista cd repair tool)
im not wanting to use the repairtool, because he already ruined an once installation after a poor pass from windows update.

    * edit *.
just to correct the incorrect error code, the correct error code reported is: 0xc0190036

Sometimes the error is then replaced 0 x 0190002 then 0xc0190005 when stopping down.

Note that I am on windows vista ultimate SP1 x 64 = programmer Noob =-

    Hi Tamalero,

You got the error message indicates that mshtml.tlb is damaged and there is one possibility of other files system is corrupted as well. All what we need to do is to rename the DLLs corrupted, restart the computer and let start the computer normally to complete the installation. Follow these steps to rename the corrupted dll file.

    (1) Insert the windows vista dvd and boot from the dvd.

    (2) select repair your computer.

    3) click on command prompt

Type the following commands and press ENTER after each line

    C:

    CD windows

    CD system32

    Mshtml.tlb.old mshtml.tlb Ren

    (4) output from command line

    (5) restart the computer and boot up normally

If you GET the black screen with a similar error and one different (other than mshtml.tlb) file, make a note of the dll file, repeat steps 1 to 5 and type the name of the file in step 3.

Restart the computer. It may take a while and you will be asked to connect to the desktop computer.

Check in system properties if SP2 is installed.

I hope this works. If you still have problem please do after back...

    Thank you.

    Hi error_counter here:
do a "repair" is only starting problems, and once they are solved, the problem persists (mshtml.tlb error)
I tried to remove this file, but then the error from 0xc01900036 at 0 x 000034
so I'm stuck again, I don't know why the file mshtml.tlb is really important to "detect" If service pack updates it anyway.

and like I said, even though vista windows SP1 supposedly has DONE a system restore point, no system restore points were detected by the dvd (one of the things that I hate about Vista than their restore points are a draw, and you can get by no unnecessary work anytime..)

the thing which allow me to return back to SP1 followed the instructions of another post here, related to the error 0 x 000034 in this forum but for SP1.
I went to the c:\windows\system32 directory and renaming of software files, security, SAM and default and replace them with copies of the REGBACK folder in system32\config
It could back me to SP1, unfortunately a quirk stuck me then in an infinite "configuration updates 3 of 3" forever time it boots (it restarts itself after a few days). and had to delete pending.xml file

That did the trick... for now, since everything appears to be damaged (I can use the program and the work very well, but no file windows update will not work).
SFC detects inconsistencies but he did not get to 100%, it stops at 34% saying it had problems and "could not perform the requested operation."
I also tried different microsoft tools. as the URSCheck and he only says: "this update does not apply to your machine.

so I guess my whole installation is really really corrupt (and makes me really hate Vista more reason, until now almost all my facilities or computers other people that contains vista, are full of mistakes or quirkcs diferent that prevents normal use.)

so Im trying to install Windows 7 in another partition and Im thinking in whiping it that soon everything is installed there.

  • Vista Sp2 installation fails with the error ASN1

When I run the installation of SP2 through Windows Update or the standalone version I get the following error «end asn1» unexpected data  Anyone have any ideas?

I tried everything I can think and find on the web or on TechNet.  I even reinstalled the operating system and the error showed once again.

    Hello RowdyMrB,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.
I suggest you to run a scan of the System File Checker to see if there is corruption in your system from the wrong key of RAM,

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

Please post back with the last 50 lines of the output JOURNAL.

  • remote procedure call fail error fo vista SP2 printer installation

I'm trying to reinstall my printer drivers and the HP software. I get the Windows Installer is not available. I have looked up lots of info on this and have tried many things but still seem to have a problem. This last time, I got the error message "the remote procedure call failed."  In services, the State of the PRC is started with Autostart upward, the RPC Locator is manual start. It is very annoying, because I can not use the HP printer. I disabled the AV and anti-spyware installation. Nothing seems to help

    Hello

It sounds more like a problem with the installer for Windows rather than what it is with the printer itself.
Have you tried to install other programs or equipment since the first see this message?
