I tried to clean my Outlook Express Inbox and sent box but I am unable too... Although the Recycle Bin icon is visible, the delete button does not work. When I open the message to remove it from this way, I get the following "Unable to delete the message" warning... but it doesn't tell me why.

When I right click the icon of the Recycle Bin to open it, I get the following: the file could not be opened. Possible causes: insufficient disk or available memory space.

Can you help me?

You can move messages you want to save out of the box of reception and sent items? If you can, move them to the user created folders, and then follow these steps. If you can't, you need to create a new identity and import your message to it first.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the files Inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx, and Deleted Items.dbx and remove them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

    Looked in MOS and found nothing.  Has anyone go through this before?  If so, what is the cause?

    Just received a resolution of Support from Oracle.  They said that this is a benign error and can be ignored.  Here is their answer to my SR:

    The error "cannot be read" indicates that the folder where your photos are to be copied in has no WRITE permission. Change your permissions on this folder.

  • Windows 7, cannot remove the burn files after back to the top

    I have a 64 bit Windows 7 laptop. A year ago I started a return upwards to put on a disc. The backup failed at the time because I ran out of records to put on (had no idea that it would take as much!).

    Since then I tried to delete these temporary burn files from the F drive, but every time I click on the option, it breaks down and wrote files are used by another program. I went through and individually deleted most of them, but I still have a few huge to get the judgment and cannot remove the program (86), or on the desktop to the top, mean that they are used by another program.

    I burned a CD of all these left during the backup of files and that worked, but the files are still sitting in my drive F, I still can't delete the temporary versions... its taking a lot of space and I got the bsod a couple of times.

    I also tried folder in the start menu and delete the temporary files in this way, but it did not result in the F drive.

    I tried to rename the temporary files so that I could remove them too, but not to chance it.

    I have disc clean up all the time, this doesn't always help with the F drive.

    Your opinion would be appreciated!
