  The first two messages mean that the hard drive has failed. The third says there is no disc in the DVD drive, so it could not be tested.

  I have recently re installed in my desktop Dell (Windows XP), a Laser Dell 3000cn printer driver. I downloaded it on the internet that I lost the installation CD. It worked fine at first, but when I turned off the Pc and reboot it drew this blue screen and message:

  I have a Dell Dimension 2400 PC.  The Dell monitor recently stop working and emitted a strange smell.  I replaced it with a Samsung EX2220.  From the start, I had problems getting started upward.  I get a message that is not found primary drive 0.  I ran the diagnostics and got "IDE Device failed circuit ECC error."  When I tried to boot from a diskette, there so--"an Exception has occurred in the DISK module. MDM! No mapping found line! "I was able to start later (open the lid, removed all devices, etc.), but it takes awhile.  I've turned off in several days because I'm afraid that there will always be problems.  It worked very well; Therefore, I don't think there is a problem with the hard drive.  I was also unable to start in safe mode.  I would like to press the F8 key but kept getting keyboard failure.  I would be grateful for any advice on how to proceed with this problem!

  We recommend that you first of all to you allows to cross check if the IDE cables are connected correctly to their connectors on the motherboard.

  Try these steps and check the result.

  Error Code 2000 - 0142, indicates a failing hard drive / failed and you need to replace it, because it is new laptop for a replacement of the hard disk, contact the Dell Technical Support and provide the error message.

  Original title: I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 x 64 which does not load windows.

  No new software or configurations have been added since this problem started about 2 weeks ago.  However, the laptop fell.  I was able to run the system diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup.  All retired except for one hard drive tests (DST short Test), who has found the error #2000-0142.

  I know that some forums suggest that the error refers to a bad hard drive or corrupted.  But others have had some success in trying the installation CD/DVD.

  Basically, the computer crashes windows tries to load/startup and I get to the blue screen with a dove and the leaves of some green in the background and a mouse cursor that works.

  I tried several methods of recovery without success. Whenever I find myself on the same blue screen.  I inserted the DVD FAB with the Windows installation/recovery.  I tried installing but the computer froze in the process.  I'll try the repair option, but the computer is frozen on the System Recovery Options. The menu lists the hard drive, but the compputer seems to be stuck trying to figure the size of the partition with.  Is there a problem if I tried the method of installation first, before you try the repair option?

Firstly, can someone please give me an absolute confirmation that it is indeed what I have to do, or is there something else I should do to fix this problem first? If a replacement drive is there someone could please tell me how can I do to get my OEM software off the coast of the partition recovery and on my new drive. I now office preinstalled and, of course, premium Windows 7 I would like to see on my new hard drive and I was not provided with one of the disks at the time of purchase.   The 200-0142 error is for hard drive failure and you need to replace the hard drive.

  Since the hard drive has not, you would not be able to access the partition recovery on it. Data would be lost and the software already installed on your computer will need to be reinstalled.

  So I'm the mother of bricks typical of the update of the bios dell (aprox 1.5 year ago) I just installed a motherboard renovated same stickers for CN-07JNHO info. Started machine and loading, I received the request of 'reboot & select proper boot device '. I rebooted w / f12 and got into the bios page. He had the hard drive to boot class 4th so I moved it to... recorded 1 restart the same thing. Double checked that my hard drive son have been linked to the 3rd test... same results.   Before pasting the couple paper weight thousand dollar in the closet... it would abandon the beep codes at the start and never from desktop... I made a few bios hardware reset with swaping clips on the pins / changed MB battery ect and he would sometimes launch and be playable until he cut power failure or an ect update and when starting it has always been the problem with the the bios loading. I got that last for a few months... until finally nothing helps it load the BIOS.
