Error code 2000-0142 usually indicates a failing hard drive / failed, first of all, try to remove and reinstall the hard drive, then re-run the diagnostic tests and see if you receive the same error.

If the same error is received, the hard drive has failed, then you need to replace it.

If you have a warranty from Dell, contact Dell Technical Support for a replacement hard drive.

  • Error code #2000-0142 after the laptop is a Dell fall.

Original title: I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 x 64 which does not load windows.

No new software or configurations have been added since this problem started about 2 weeks ago.  However, the laptop fell.  I was able to run the system diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup.  All retired except for one hard drive tests (DST short Test), who has found the error #2000-0142.

I know that some forums suggest that the error refers to a bad hard drive or corrupted.  But others have had some success in trying the installation CD/DVD.

Basically, the computer crashes windows tries to load/startup and I get to the blue screen with a dove and the leaves of some green in the background and a mouse cursor that works.

I tried several methods of recovery without success. Whenever I find myself on the same blue screen.  I inserted the DVD FAB with the Windows installation/recovery.  I tried installing but the computer froze in the process.  I'll try the repair option, but the computer is frozen on the System Recovery Options. The menu lists the hard drive, but the compputer seems to be stuck trying to figure the size of the partition with.  Is there a problem if I tried the method of installation first, before you try the repair option?

You will need to replace the hard drive.

  • Error code 2000-0146 and 0F00:065 D and B 0F00:137

I have a Dell Studio 1735 laptop.  Today it froze on me.  I could only make a hard stop.  I tried to log in again and got on the desktop with icons, but couldn't go further.  Don't have hard stop yet and I tried to go back to the top.  I made a kind of diagnostic tests and received the error code 2000-0146 following.  Also received the 0F00:065 D error reading DISK_0-self-test and 0F00:137 B DVDRW_1-disk is missing Virgin insert the data disc (example of the RCD).  I don't know what all these means.  Can someone direct me if it can be repaired and how I can fix it.  Or do I need a new hard drive.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  I use another laptop to write this message.

The first two messages mean that the hard drive has failed. The third says there is no disc in the DVD drive, so it could not be tested.

  • Error code: 2000-0146 (laptop hung on "Installation screen Windows updates")

OK, so I have every time I turn on my computer dell laptop (I have windows vista) it acts like it is to install the updates of windows. He said same facility 3/3 even though the completion bar shows 0%. She does this, is like its about to restart then passes to the installation screen.  I ran the diagnostic test and the error code 2000-0146 came. I'm not sure if this is useful, but if anyone has a solution please help! Thank you

Oh and I tried to restore the option and he did nothing.

    Hi cgardne5,

    1. How did you restore the computer?

Try these steps and check the result.
Step 1: The repair of the boot with Vista DVD
    a. Insert the Windows DVD.
    b. restart your computer.
    c. let the computer restart (boot) from the DVD.
    d. If you are prompted, press a key to continue.
    e. When you reach the screen install Windows, select your preferences in the language to install, time and currency format and keyboard or input method boxes, and then click Next.
    f. do not click install now. Instead, click on repair your computer. The System Recovery Options dialog box appears.
    g. make sure that the appropriate operating system is selected, and then click Next.
    h. After you click Next, the System Recovery Options menu appears.
    i. click on startup repair. Once the Startup Repair tool is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.
    j. remove the DVD and restart the computer to see if the system boots fine.

Step 2: If you do not have the Vista DVD, start the computer in safe mode and restore the computer
See Start your computer in safe mode
    See System Restore
NOTE: You can also choose the system restore on the system recovery options.

  • Received error BSOD, ran Diagnostics, got the error code 2000-0146, tried to boot from different HARD drive, got the same stop error message

So my friend gave me his computer dell laptop. The thing would boot normally for a few days until he would give me a blue screen of death with the "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" message constantly to not even upward. I ran the diagnostics and got the error code 2000-0146. What I've read, this code error means that the HARD drive is bad and must be replaced. So, to make sure that it's the hard drive, tried to boot from an old hard drive, I got around the installation by USB and windows gave me the same stop error message. May - so that means it's a motherboard problem?

No, it isn't - unless the operating system was installed on this drive AND the system in question, that it won't work as a bootable drive.

Unplug the system, remove or disconnect the battery and hold the power for 30 seconds approximately.  Turn on and re-run the diagnostic tests - if the same error appears again, the drive is bad.  Replace it.

  • Error code 2000-0145 on SSD

I have a brand new DELL Optiplex 9010 AIO and had problems with the SSD (Adata 512 GB).

The problem started with a blue screen of death (BSOD) in Windows 7. After that each new start results in a BSOD. I tried with a new installation, but it also results in a BSOD when installing. I've upgraded to the latest version of the bios A09. The hard drive Diagnostics returns the error code 2000-0145. Try the hard drive in the results on another computer in the same code error when you run the diagnostic tests. Execution of diagnosis with a new hard drive in the computer works well, but when you pass on the original SSD drive the same error recurs.

What means error code 2000-0146 means? Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bug

2000-0145 has to do with a rotation test.  Dell actually had a stroke of genius to design a diagnosis that has identified problems hard spin-up and test the integrity of a player.  An SSD does not have an engine and cannot return a response appropriate for this part of the test, immediately throws an error.  It is not a standard for one SSD to answer with a bypass for a test like this, since it is an exclusive test.  Some SSD cannot report this error, while other models will be.

I had to do a lot of digging for it and tried several SSD to see how this error code is displayed.  Again, he would have them all, but he has been consistent among all readers of specific models.  Was a huge headache 2 months & nightmare for me.  SSD so now I'll try other software, or other system to check the integrity of an SSD before calling the bad disk.  A unique model of SSD, this has produced on several readers was the OCZ Vertex SATA III 4.  Fact on all sizes we tested: 128, 256, 512.  Down them on a version customized with various diagnostic tools: discs had no problem.  Many are still in production several months after running the tests.
