Error code 646 when trying to install updates for microsoft office
I get the error code 646 when installing updates for microsoft office 2007 on Vista. I do visit the website and install them manually but it is a pain in the rear. Why did I do all of a sudden, and how can I go back to automatically install updates?

I get an error code every time I try to install 3 updates inportant code is 646

This problem occurs when the agent Windows Update Wups2.dll file is incorrectly registered in the registry. Because registry files that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing, update facilities have failed. There are two methods to resolve this issue, use method 1 first, and if it did not resolve your issue, go to method 2
Method 1: Save the Windows Update files
1. click Start and type notepad in the box start the search .
2. click on Notepad in the programs list.
3. copy the following commands, and then paste them into the opened Notepad window:
REGSVR32 WUPS2. DLL/S
REGSVR32 STINKS. DLL/S
REGSVR32 WUAUENG. DLL/S
REGSVR32 WUAPI. DLL/S
REGSVR32 WUCLTUX. DLL/S
REGSVR32 WUWEBV. DLL/S

I tried to install the update of security KB2431831 for Microsoft Works 9 several times. Whenever he fails and give me "Update error code 646 Windows has encountered an unknown error.

error code 80072efd, not able to install updates for Microsoft put updated or Anti virus
I tried to update my laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate Edition with the latest updates of security etc from Windows. I can't update. When I try to go to the site it blocks just the pop up with a page download page as mif I am no longer connected to the internet.
When I try to download updates for the anti-virus software, I get the same problem. I've followed all the advice available online to those problems, s. Disabling the firewall and make sure wondowsupdate.com et al. are allowed through the firewall, but nothing helped.
Please please I need to sort my fear that my laptop is in jeopardy.

Error code 646 when trying to install Windows updates.
Windows updates appear to download but will not be installed. I tried to go into 'control panel '; Security systems &; then Windows updates. It checks and concludes that they are downloaded and try to install but won't. My computer is set to automatically download and install, so I'm never checked to see if they really were the installation so far. It seems the latest installations of updates took place the 1/11 & 12/01/11. There has been many failures last year. Right now, it seems that there are 6 updates important and 6 optional updates that will not be installed.
I tried to disable my Norton Internet Security and then the installation, but that does not work either.
Can anyone help?

Common problem. Download the updated Office and install it manually.
Save it to a location on your hard drive, you can find and then manually install it.
