Hi Mary,

If the list of items that you pasted in your previous post presents the problem registry keys.  It seems that the appropriate permissions for these keys have been stripped.  Here are the steps that you can try to solve the problem.  Please do not forget to mark the thread as "Response" if it solves the problem.

1. download Windows PowerShell:

First you will need to download a tool called PowerShell V2 (CTP3) starting from Microsoft Download Center: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c913aeab-d7b4-4bb1-a958-ee6d7fe307bc&displaylang=en

2. install Windows PowerShell:

Then, double-click the file you downloaded to install the tool.  Please note that you may get a message indicating:

"Windows PowerShell (TM) V2 (CTP3) remote features may not work correctly in this version of the operating system".  What is expected based on the version of Windows Vista (eg Home Premium).  On this same screen, click on install to continue.

3. launch the PowerShell:

Once you have downloaded the PowerShell, click on the start menu and type "PowerShell" in the search field.  Click Windows PowerShell in the result of research for loach tool.  If the tool is running properly, you'll get a window with a blue background, with a command prompt "PS C:\ >.

4. at the command prompt (PS C:\ >), type each of the following commands (a to f) followed by the Enter key.
Tip: You should be able to paste each of the commands one by one.  Simply right-click in the window and select Paste.

a. $acl = get-acl-path "hklm:\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing"

b. $inherit = [system.security.accesscontrol.InheritanceFlags] 'ContainerInherit', 'ObjectInherit.

c. $propagation = [system.security.accesscontrol.PropagationFlags] 'InheritOnly'

d. $rule = new-object system.security.accesscontrol.registryaccessrule "NT TrustedInstaller service", "FullControl", $hériter, $propagation, "allow."

e. $acl.addaccessrule ($rule)

f. $acl | Set - acl

(If you get an error message, take a brief description of the error and let me know.)

6. close the PowerShell window and test Windows Update

Kind regards

Make a return of your files and try the repair install. You should not lose any of your files, but to be on the right side (just in case), back first.

  • Error code 8007005 early upgrade 0 x

I encounter an error at the beginning of the installation of Windows 7 upgrade. Shortly after the start of the installation process, the screen indicates "Setup is copying temporary files...". "which is followed by an error dialog box"Windows could not create an installation folder. "Error code: 0 x 8007005. Then the installation stops.

It seems that the error code 0 x 8007005 is an "Access denied" error To solve the problem, I ran Process Monitor on the setup.exe process and watched for him to attempt to create the folder "C:\~windows.bt". The setup.exe Windows 7 will only attempt to create this file in the same place before giving up; a second partition on my hard drive. This secondary partition is not a windows partition, but rather a partition ext3 for Linux (my machine is dualboot), which of course can not access Windows Vista. I have no idea why setup.exe to install the temporary folder, but I hope that there is a way to report the installation to the right partition.

    Hi Josh Derr,.

Thanks for posting. To install the temporary files to another drive please follow these steps.

    Click on start then run
Next to open it, type 'CMD '.
Now, in the command line type "D:" (or whatever drive letter is currently assigned to your DVD drive)
Then type "setup.exe /tempdrive:DriveLetter ' (this drive letter must be your bigest partition. Of setup.exe /tempdrive:C)
Let Setup continue restart your computer and completing the upgrade.
