  OK, so thank you to Alex blood Support technique Microsoft. The solution to my fixing corrupt system files was to run the installation on my Windows DVD install and choose the option 'Upgrade. ' I backed up all my documents in case where, but my system remained intact. I didn't format my hard drive and reinstall Windows, so I am grateful that this solution worked. I just someone would wish he suggested earlier.

  Without knowing for sure if you get this error during the installation of a program or Windows Update.   I tried several times to select and install several updates for Windows Vista (SP1), Microsoft Office (2007), Internet Explorer (7), etc, but I get error 80070246.  I then tried to install an update at a time, but I get the same message.  I've already looked and tried other solutions for this error - no work.  Any suggestions?  According to the update of Windows, I have 84 reviews and 2 Optional updates to make, and I can't accomplish one at this point.

  I get to point 5 after inserting my windows 32 bit vista dvd and there is not a file named install.wim 1, there is a file called installwim!. I tried to copy this file and then point 6 did not find the file error.

It says 'never' most recent checks the updates and updates have been installed 'never '. I did the operation of Micorsoft update packages to prepare and package files autonomous but still no luck.   This problem occurs if the GlobalInstallOrder.xml file is damaged. The GlobalInstallOrder.xml file is in the following location:

  %Windir%\Winsxs\x86_microsoft-Windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_07289f4cca5f6990\GlobalInstallOrder.XML

  To resolve this problem, replace the GlobalInstallOrder.xml file damaged on the system with the same file from the Windows Vista installation media. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. get the WIM of the Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK) filter driver. To download and install the Windows AIK, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
