Error code 800704242

Any progress with update error 80070424? I got it for a few weeks now with exactly the same mistakes as shown on this forum, i.e. sfc/scannow 'Protection resources Windows could not start repair service' running from a high command - same prompt repair of console Vista, etc. coming with the error.

I have tried all the following suggested solutions under the direction of Microsoft EMEA Consumer Technical Support:
 
1. stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and the automatic updates service. To do this, follow these steps:
a. click on start / all programs/accessories. Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "run as Administrator". Click on 'Continue' in the UAC prompt.
b. at the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

net stop wuauserv
net stop bits

2. rename the folder "Catroot2. To do this, follow these steps:

Type the following commands and press ENTER after each command.

net stop cryptsvc
Ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc
 
3 Rename the folder "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution":

Type the following command and press ENTER.

Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

4. save the files used by Windows Update and Microsoft Update. To do this, follow these steps:

a. at the command prompt, type the following commands, press ENTER after each command and then click OK every time that you receive a verification message:
 
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wucltux.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wups.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuwebv.dll
 
5. start the Service the service of automatic updates, Background Intelligent Transfer and the event log service. To do this, follow these steps:

a. at the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:
 
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start Eventlog
output

Unfortunately, this failed and resulted in the following Microsoft email:

Thank you for your response.

 

Given that we have done some troubleshooting steps and it still doesn't work do not the updates manually, there could be some files of the System corrupt operations that might be preventing us to launch the updates.

 

 

Your best option for this particular question here would be to contact the main helpless Microsoft: 0870 6010 100 (opening hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 18:00)

and ask for the support of Windows Vista, and I'm sure they would be in a much better position to help you with your problem.

 

I apologize for not being able to help you with this issue, because it is out of my 'Expertise'.

 

I'm sure you understand that it is a question out of my range of support.

Unfortunately, support for Windows Vista won't help me because I have an OS preinstalled (by HP that have also drawn a white) and since I don't have the Vista install I can not do a repair installation DVD. I've only had this PC for about four months, my first with Vista Home Premium 64-bit and ended about all my stuff on it from loading. The last thing I want to do is a complete system restore!

Can anyone help please?

Have Andrew you tried to reinstall the Windows Update Agent?
Try:

Repair / update Windows Update agent:

1. determine if you are running a 64-bit or 32-bit system:

Click Start-> right click computer-> select Properties

In the window system, under System Type: it will show you the operating system 32-bit or 64-bit.

2. download the appropriate version of Windows Update Agent:

Windows Vista (32-bit)

If you receive a message WUA already installed, then perform these steps to force the WUA installation:

Click Start-> click on all programs-> on accessories-> click Run, type the following in the open air filed:

Click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue. In the installation window, click, read the license terms, select I agree and click Next, the successful installation click Finish.

    MBP early 2011: I just ran the AHT twice, the first round gave me an error code of 4SNS/1/40000000: VDOR - 18.678, second inning gave the code 4SNS/1/40000000: VDOR - 18.679. Does anyone know what are these error codes? My best guess is probably the RAM, I have (2) modules of 8 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3 OR wireless networking equipment installed. I've noticed recently while multitasking, the wifi connection seems to cling and web pages will not load/downloads will pick up. But the way in which applications will be blocked for 60 seconds makes me think of a bad situation of RAM I have had in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated since the nearest bar genius lies in 2 1/2 hour. Thank you!

  • Transcend Jet 360 Lite SD care &amp; "the operation cannot be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 50)"

    Have used the SD Transcend 360 256 MB card for data storage with success during the last 6 months on my MBP to mid-2014.  Installed their wake from sleep early support software.

    Above error code invite you in this context: I wake up Mac in the morning after sleep.  Transcend icon "wake up" and appear on the desktop (as it should).  I check disk utility and the card is recognized.  HOWEVER, about 1/3 of those mornings, despite appearing and functional map icon (folder open when I click on it), when I try to write/copy a file or folder to it, I get the above error code?  For about a week I missed that everything seemed normal.  My current 'fix' is to eject the card (requires a 'forced ejection"which I'm concerned could damage the card?), but the card ejects without delay.  90% of the time when I remove and reinsert the card, the operating system recognizes, all right.  (There are a dozen times when I had to reboot for it to be recognized.)

    All the others did this experiment with the Transcend (I submitted a request for tech support to them with a persistent response of 'Question Mac'... (LOL).  This error has been noted several times on the Forum discussion, but in the context of external drives and with no apparent solution.  FYI, I use the Transcend (in addition to external systems) b/c it works essentially like a hard drive internal and I use it mainly for Google Drive perfectly... except for the above inconveniences.  Thanks in advance!

    Never made an exception for the site.

    FINALLY, what worked was rename the cert8.db file in the profile folder so FF could generate a new. Then FF grabbed the cert very well.

    Hello Carmel, to answer your questions:

    (1) iOS updates should not delete all data on your phone, the system is updated but nothing else changes. All data and settings should remain the same. This is the normal behavior.

    (2) to find mistakes Apple checkbox. However 22 is not there. 21-23 can help:

    Get help with iOS update or restore errors - Apple Support

    (3) for the Facebook app, you may need to contact Facebook because that's their problem. Alternatively, you can delete the app, reboot the phone and re-install the application. This works for many. Good luck.
