Try to run the system update (or CheckSUR) tool to see if it can resolve the error.
If it cannot, you can edit the CheckSUR.log located atCheckSUR.log Windows\Logs\CBS\
and maybe we can see what content is not present in the operating system.

Your operating system is corrupted. To eliminate the problems on your computer, you need to restore factory settings and rebuild your computer system.

A recovery of the system partition contains a copy of the operating system as it was when the computer was purchased new. Using the copy of Vista, you can restore the computer to factory settings. Of course you must back up your data files to an external before restoring support as the process reformats the disk thus clearing all existing files before writing new files.

Please read Chapter 13 (page 33) Manual:
    5738 http://global-download.Acer.com/GDFiles/document/generic%20UG/generic%20UG_Acer_1.0_A_A.zip?acerid=633967123940952836&STEP1=notebook&Step2=aspire&step3=aspire & OS = ALL & LC = en & BC = ACER & SC = EMEA_27

The manual suggests that you have an option to restore the operating system and retain user data that I've not seen in a manual before. It is worth trying because it reduces the work involved but I would again as a precaution, back up your data files on external safety precaution if things go wrong.

  • Error code 80070490 searching Windows updates

    original title: Code error 80070490

    Hi all

I have this Windows Update icon in my tray on the right saying I need to update my computer, which is good, but every time I have try I get

"Windows could not search for new updates"

    "Error Found."

"Code 80070490 - updated window has met an unknown error"

So I do not use Windows Live One Care, I use AVG Virus Protection, and it is up to date!

    Help, please!

    Hi ONTLLs,

The error you receive occurs if there is corruption in the manifest of component maintenance base.  The only way to fix this is to do a "repair" of Windows Vista installation.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/958044/en-us
The 'repair' installation (upgrade on-site) will not affect your installed programs or data.  Just make sure that you are already connected to your computer when you start the installation.  Do not boot from the DVD.

If the installation does not start automatically when you insert the DVD, run setup.exe from your DVD player.

    • When the Setup program starts and the install now screen, click install now.
    • Note When you receive the important Get updates for installation message, click go online.
    • Click upgrade when the which type of installation you want? appears

Please let us know if this solves the problem for you.

  • Error Code 8007000D install Windows updates

I'm running Windows 7 on a Lenovo X200S.  Windows Update worked until about a month or two ago and has since been giving me "unknown error code' 8007000D.  I ran the Mr. Fixit tool in aggressive mode and it did not help.  I downloaded and installed KB947821 (sytems update tool) manually and it still does not work.  Suggestions how to fix this would be appreciated.  Thank you.

8007000D - Error_invalid_data.  Corruption in the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.  Please rename
    %windir%/SoftwareDistribution folder.

This is how you do it in Vista so I guess it's the same thing in Windows 7 (check that you restart however that the folder cannot be recreated properly without a reboot).

How to rename the software D folder in Vista - distribution agent version

    1. stop the Windows Update service (make sure that you are logged on as administrator)

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
    Double-click on Services
(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click on stop.

    2. Click Start, type %windir%\System32 in the search box and press ENTER.

Find and rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.

    3. start the Windows Update service

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
    Double-click on Services
(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.

This procedure will erase your history on the Windows Update Site. Not important.
You can always check what updates have been installed quite easily.

I'm trying to fix an error code 80073712 (this does not allow me to install windows updates) Windows

I'm trying to fix an error code 80073712 (this does not allow me to install windows updates) Windows

    Hey jhlaws38

the Microsoft link here is the information to fix your error code 80073712

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/957310

This problem can occur if the manifest of components (CBS)-based services is corrupted.

To resolve this problem, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

Method 1: Run (Checksur.exe) system update readiness tool

    1. Download and run the system update readiness tool. This tool runs an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations.

For more information about how to download and run the Checksur.exe tool, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

947821 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/) Description of the update readiness tool for Windows Vista system
    2. Try to install updates again.

Note After running the tool, the Checksur.log file is stored in the following location:

    %SystemRoot%\Logs\CBS

In a default installation of Windows Vista, %systemroot% represents the Windows directory.

If this method does not resolve the problem, go to method 2.

Method 2: Install Windows Vista Service Pack 1

If you have not yet installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), visit the Microsoft Download Center, and then download and install Service Pack 1. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Quit all programs, and then click on the following link:

      http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=f559842a-9c9b-4579-b64a-09146a0ba746&displaylang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f559842a-9c9b-4579-b64a-09146a0ba746&DisplayLang=en)

Note Click the option to download on the download page, clickSave, and then save the download to your desktop. When the download process is complete, clickrun to install the SP1.

    2. Restart the computer.
    3. Try to download the updates again.

If you can't always install updates, go to method 3.

Method 3: Make a Windows Vista repair install

When you perform a repair installation, it restores the current installation of Windows Vista to the version on the installation DVD. This requires you to reinstall all updates that do not appear in this version of Windows Vista.

To perform a repair of Windows Vista installation, follow these steps:

    1. Restart the computer.
    2. Insert the Windows Vista DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.

Note If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, click on Start, type : \setup.exe in the Search box, and then click configuration in the list programs. Then, clickinstall now.

    3. Click connect to get the latest updates for installation (recommended).
    4. Insert the product key if you are prompted to do so.
    5. Click to accept the Microsoft software license agreement.
    6. On the screen which type of installation you want , click upgrade.
    7. Once the installation is complete, restart the computer, and then try again to install updates.

    Reference:

Enable or disable the User Account Control

    Important:

User Account Control (UAC) can help you to prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. It works by asking permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings affecting other users. We do not recommend disable user account control. If you turn it off, you must reactivate as soon as possible.
