Error code 80242016

I tried several times to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and every time I get the same error code 8024016.  There is space enough and did not cancel them before updates have been made.  Can anyone please help me out and let me know what I can do to aleviate this problem.

Thanks for reading.  Any help is appreciated.

How about an error 80244016, basically an error "access denied"?

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?  Who were these applications that run in the background when you tried to install SP2?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

The foregoing despite...

Running Vista SP1 on a Dell Studio 64 bit.  Whenever I try to install updates for Windows, I encountered problems.
I tried the solution that I found in the forums (running Mr Fixit, then run system update tool) - if I run these, next updates seem to work currently running.  When I try to make the next round of updates, I met the same problem - which is the error code 80242016.  There is enough free space on the disk, does not cancel, etc.
I tried to install SP2 2 months ago and have not as well.

Should I run these specialized programs before I run updates?  That's happened since I bought the machine in February... too late to go back, but my patience is exhausted.

Main issue - it would be logical for me to upgrade to Windows 7 at this point?

Thanks for any help you can give me - I don't have much hair left to pull out!

OMG... I disabled the option "Prevent unauthorized changes" as a result of Trend Micro, tried new updates and they were all successful.

THANK YOU very much for your comments - he made me watch the Security Suite and find the option that I was the cause of the problem.  I've dealt with this for months and this seems to be the answer to this problem.

  • KB2952664 fails in windows update, error code 80242016

October 14, 2014 Windows updates had 15 recommended Important updates including KB2952664.  WU appeared to run correctly, but when you restart found 14 updates installed successfully and KB2952664 failed with the error code 80242016 (usually means that another installation is run - WU was the only application running).  I have reviewed historical WU and noted that this same KB has been updated 15/08/2014.  Reopened WU and returned played Check for Updates with nothing.  Because it was already installed, should I reinstall the KB, since it is not or there is nothing to worry?  Thanks for the help.

    Problem solved: 15/10/2014.

Line at the bottom is that a previous version of this KB is probably already installed on your machine Win7 and if you want to update to the new version, you have to let fail, then uninstall, reboot, run WU check updates and reinstall the KB.  The alternative is to uninstall the last version - it only one - and remove the maintenance package KB.  This KB update facilitates the process of upgrading to later versions of Windows, and there will probably be additional versions in the future.

I hope this helps and a big thank you to all those responding on two poles.

I had the same problem installing updates on a Windows 7 Home Premium platform. All other updates have shown that it is installed successfully, with the exception of KB2952664. Another post on this subject, a fix was given to which I did successfully.

Panel\Programs control & Features\View updates installed (selection of left column), right click on KB2952664, select uninstall, close Control Panel. Return to Windows Update and look for the updates. KB2952664 is displayed, run the update in my case, it is then installed successfully.

    Hi RhondaJean,

I suggest that you put your computer in a clean boot State and then install the updates that are mentioned. The issue could be related to a third party software conflict causing the issue (error codes) to occur. Clean boot helps eliminate conflicts of third party software.

Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.

  • Vista updates fail - error - 800F0816, 80242016 codes

Currently have 11 major updates that fail to install and 29 in option. I tried to install update 1 at a time, reboot the PC and the system then crosses recovery of Windows startup. I installed the latest version of Windows Update, I renamed directories distribution Catroot2 and software. I tried to install SP1 and the system response with SP1 already installed, I tried to install SP2 system responds with SP1 must be installed. Any help, conventional wisdom greatly

    Alan,
You execute all stages of this link as Halima provided: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366
Specifically have you tried 3 and 4 of the resolution?  If this isn't the case, then try them.
    If so, then try this:
Disconnect all external devices (except keyboard and mouse)
Perform a clean boot , and then download the stand-alone SP1 (which looks like you already have it).
Disconnect from the internet, and then try to install SP1.

If this still fails, check the error code and after that you have achieved.  You can also consider the possibility that you have a virus\malware infection.  Take a look at these links.

  • Cannot load Windows 7 after installation of 2 critical updates (KB2436673 & KB2296199) - 0x800f0816 error Code

At 03:00 today, my computer automatically up-to-date with 8 updated reviews.  The computer unused satellite, power, up to 15:00 when I got home, date on which windows was trying to 'fix', because windows could not be loaded.  I did a system restore to a point before the updates were installed (02:00).  Goodbye My observer of events and concluding that none of the updates have been installed correctly, I have taken note of the errors for each (most were 0x800f0816, but we've been 0 x 80242016) and went through each update individually and install.  Two of these updates will not be installed.  After the system restart after installing, windows attempts to load.  The system automatically restarts and begins to repair windows.  Windows repair indicates that the system cannot be repaired automatically.  I chose a restore point from before the 'bad' updates are installed, and everything is fine.

I get the same error for the two KB2296199 of KB2436673 & failed installs: 0x800f0816.

Is it possible to fix this?  Or I'm just not going to install it these updates?  It is a newly built computer (last week), all the new kit stripped of equipment, new OS.  I have very little installed on this system.  I found no information regarding this error code or the latest MS updates online, or if anyone else has similar problems.

Any response would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    J.

Of course, if you cannot start the computer, uninstall the updates would be moot & system restore (or 'last good' known) would be your only recourse.

    Again, see http://www.microsoft.com/security/pypc.aspx

Welcome & thank you for your comments. Happy Chrismakwannukah!

In the case of an error in probe (4SNS), to determine what type of sensor is referenced, look for his first letter, which should be 'I' for the current "V" or "T" for temperature, voltage.

Then check the second letter from the list below to see which component it refers to:

    A: ambient air sensor

  • 4SNS/1/40000000 error code: VDOR - 18.678 & 18.679

MBP early 2011: I just ran the AHT twice, the first round gave me an error code of 4SNS/1/40000000: VDOR - 18.678, second inning gave the code 4SNS/1/40000000: VDOR - 18.679. Does anyone know what are these error codes? My best guess is probably the RAM, I have (2) modules of 8 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3 OR wireless networking equipment installed. I've noticed recently while multitasking, the wifi connection seems to cling and web pages will not load/downloads will pick up. But the way in which applications will be blocked for 60 seconds makes me think of a bad situation of RAM I have had in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated since the nearest bar genius lies in 2 1/2 hour. Thank you!

No RAM - 4SNS is a sensor error.
