Error 'Corrupt file' on all downloads

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Internet Explorer Version 7.0.6000.16764.  Whenever I try to download a program, it will download, but not executed.  When I try to run the program, an error message appears (every time) stating "the file is corrupt.  Examples of programs I downloaded (but cannot install) are iTunes and Foxfire.  Any suggestions?

Hi debreeze,

There are many different factors can be attributed to your question.  It could be your network card, a problem with your ISP, Modem, or any other number of things.  Something happens during the download process that causes your files get corrupted.  We would like a little more info to help solve your problem.

It is a laptop or desktop, and are you connected via a wired or wireless?  If you are connected wireless; you could try to connect with a wire and then try the downloads.

Who is your Internet service provider, and what kind of equipment do you use to connect to their service?  You may have a faulty modem.  You can call most of the suppliers and ask them to test your equipment/connection to see if it is the problem.

Do you have other computers on your network and if so; do you have the same results as the download of files on them?

You use any type of internet security applications or third-party firewall.  If the answer is "Yes";  try temporarily disabling them and download your files.

You are connected to a router?  If you are, try to connect directly to the modem and see what kind of results you get.

If none of this helps, please post your hardware specs so that we can give you more troubleshooting steps.  We can't wait to hear back on your part.

    Hello

    This error appears especially if some or all of the system files are damaged.
    Usually the new OS reinstall should solve this problem.
    Use the recovery disk to reinstall the operating system.

    But many people have reported that this could occur due to hardware failure; Modules of RAM or HARD drive may be disrupted.

    PXE - e61:media test check cable error message appears because the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN. This is especially the case if the LAN boot option has been set to the first position in the BIOS or if the HARD disk is not available or not recognized.

    In your case, it could be a new drive HARD does not appear in the BIOS, which is not recognized.

  • How to fix or reproject corrupted files

    My operating system is Win 7 x 64 IE9. Recently ran sfc/scannow and found corrupt file "tcpmon.ini". This has to do with the printer and don't know if it is an anomaly and is safe or not. MSE is my stand-alone antivirus that I ran and the results were negative. Also, in my toolbox I SAS, MBAM and TDSS which I ran and these newspapers were negative. Mr. Fixit said that my system is OK. I haven't added new programs and others for a while, and the only thing that has changed is a new mouse.

    The reason why I ran sfc/scannow, it is that I do regularly. Since Windows Resource Protection could not fix nor reproject files I did further research and came across a program called ICE ECC, which claim to repair corrupted files. I downloaded and saved on the desktop and have not implemented. I wanted to know if anyone has any info on this program, and if indeed it repairs the corrupted files. All advice would be appreciated.

    Borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD(not Dell, HP, etc Recovery DVDs) to do a repair installation

    If you see a startup Neosmart repair disk download here, this is NOT what you want.

    You want a good Vista DVD that contains the operating system files.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you need a recovery media for your laptop back to factory settings, read this info:
    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.
    There is no Vista free download legal available.
    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
    They will tell you how to do this.
    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    Hello

    I have seen that some issues have been resolved by updating the firmware of the modem or the router. Maybe this isn't a problem with the operating system but with devices connected to the computer.

    Visit the website of the manufacturer for the router and see if they have an updated firmware update. For some reason, it seems to cause more problems with Windows 7 and Vista with Windows XP.

    Please answer back with an update and let us know if that helps.

    It is possible that your antivirus software is corrupt downloaded files or otherwise interfere with the download of files by Firefox.

    Try disabling analysis in real time (live) files in your software anti-virus temporarily to see if that makes working download.

    We bought just Calibration Executive v3.3 with all procedures, then we can expand our capabilities in the laboratory of metrology. While installing procedures of the discs, I get errors of corruption (1335) for all the cabins on each disc. I tried to copy the disks to the hard drive and get the same error. We are down in this area, as I removed the old Cal Exec 2.0 already.

    Have you tried it on another computer just to make sure that's not the optical drive? You should also try to temporarily disable all antivirus software. • Error codes & corrupt files

    Hi, can you please help. I have problems with the installation of the updates and software on my laptop: -.

    updated Windows, I get the error code 80200053,
    Microsoft Security Essentials updates, I get the error code 0 x 80240022 (it is a new installation but have not been able to run as unable to update with all definitions)
    Installation of Windows Live Messenger and Mail, I get error code hr:0x8007000d

    I restored my laptop to factory default, but the problem has not been fixed. I still have the same problem but also, I'm unable to download programs such as Java or AVG (before I tried MSE), I get messages affecting either corrupted files or editors unknown/certificates. I have had these problems for more than a week now, actually both my laptop and my desktop partners have the same problems.

    After spending hours searching these forums, I found another user who seems to have the same problems as me and monitoring of the solution developed for example disk cleanup; SFC.exe then checkdisk but the problems have not been resolved. The log of the SFC.exe suggested that some corrupt files could not be repaired and I looked at the results, but to be honest I have no idea what to do about it. The result of checkdisk returned clean well.

    We managed to get a copy of AVG from a CD and run a full scan on the laptop and desktop and no viruses have been detected. The only items listed were cookies of track that have been removed or repaired and 2 items on my laptop Advisor broken digital certificates.

    Can you please help me with this, I don't know what else to do to solve this problem?
