  However, it is a good practice to back up most important data before the upgrade.

  1. In the BIOS, did you put the DVD Rom under the 1st boot device? (If Yes, when you power on some computers will appear a message like "Press any key to boot from CD" and displays only a few seconds).
  2. Are you sure that the physical DVD Rom drive is good? (Have you used it recently before formatting your hard drive?)
  3. Are you sure the CD you trying to start is actually a bootable disc and that's in the drive?

  I have many facilities update unresolved that failed, of which several have been labeled 'critical' is it possible that these updates were for windows 7 instead of my program which is the version of microsoft windows vista 6.0 over a few more numbers after that.

  Try to download and install manually by download on your desktop and install them one by one. Insert the number of KB to get updates on the right and choose the one corresponding to your version of Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx.  It is not possible for Windows Update in order to send updates for the wrong operating system (but I can't go further and say that it is impossible, even if I never heard talk of such a thing).

  If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 and then make the facilities.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

  I recommend to try this:

  1. click on START
  2. click on "Control Panel."
  3. double click on "Add/Remove Programs".
  4. Select "Office 2003" and click on replace {or} remove "."
  5 Select this option to repair the installation, and follow the installation wizard
  6. after the repair, restart your computer and then try to update Office
