reinstall audio devices-error message: "no audio output device is installed" I have no sound - how to rectify the problem please? tried most of the quick fix ideas, but nothing seems to work

Hi Jammyhorse,

1. What is the number of brand and model of the PC?

2. when the problem started?

3. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

Step 1:

You can check the following link and run the Fixit and see if helps solve the problem.

Diagnose and automatically repair audio playback problems

http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/NO_SOUND/

Also check out the link:

Tips for solving common audio problems

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/tips-for-fixing-common-sound-problems

Step 2:

In the BIOS settings advanced, you can also check if the onboard sound is enabled.

You can see the manual of the system manufacturer or contact the system manufacturer for more information on how to make the changes in the BIOS.

Note: Change to the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Hope this information is useful.

  • Re: Satellite a series - error message "No Audio output device" installed

The small icon in the lower right corner that normally allows you to control the sound settings now appear with a red X next to it, and when I move the mouse over it I get the message above "No Audio output device" installed I have absolutely no idea why this happens suddenly, but I noticed a couple of weeks, and then a few days later, when I turned on the laptop, the sound was back to normal.

Now, I have this message again-, it seems it's random... sometimes when I turn on the machine it is ok, other times I get the above message. I touch any of the settings ever as I am a non-technical person, so have no idea why this is happening suddenly. I tried simply to reboot the machine, but it does not (today).

My machine is a portable satellite. If you ve of suggestions as to how I can just get my sound back to normal (i.e. in the background, something not not to even think to, it works just as you would expect), please posting a reply. Warranty service was going to get paid for their time. I'm sure it's a very simple solution and I would appreciate greatly any help you can give me.

  • Message "no Audio output device is installed" after changing graphics card

    Hello

Thanks in advance for your help. I have a desktop pavilion, model No. KZ754AA. I just got a new graphics card installed, and as has been done, the above message appears in my "speaker" icon. devices and when I click on playback devices are NVIDIA hdmi output, however, it is said also they are not connected but I know that the cable is properly connected. I used to have installed Realtek I think, but that has now disappeared. I tried d/l of HP drivers, but it still did not work. Help, please. Thank you

    Hello:

The solution is simple, but obscure.

So, I'm happy that you came here before making a lot of troubleshooting that most of us would try unless we knew that the answer is simple.

    Why it happened...

Your PC think you have installed not only a video card, but also a sound card, because it has built-in HDMI sound card.

Thus, he dutifully automatically disabled the integrated audio system as it disabled the embedded video.

Restart the computer and press the F10 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to access the BIOS.

Looking for an embedded audio setting normally in the device setup menu.

You will find it the value auto or off.

Change the setting to "Enabled". Save the setting it by hitting the F10 key and again when you go out to save settings and exit.

When you restart in Windows, you should now have your new built-in audio system and when you plug an HDMI cable from your video to your TV card, you should then get the HDMI audio.

The drivers are all ok. Must have dislodged something but it is not clear.  Any suggestions?  It's a HP ISTART 2479 running Vista.  Thank you

Never heard of mappings of its I/O... If the old sticks still work, it must be something with the new RAM, maybe back to PC World and try another.  You bought RAM more recent than what was your system, but the new sticks must be retro-compatible.  PNY and MemoryMaster are good brands.

  • Satellite L300D-243 - no audio output device is installed

    Hello

I look for a similar problem in the forum but have not found anything that's been resolved.
I'll try to explain how my problem came.

My sound is fine until when a few days ago I tried to lower the volume and then all of a sudden it froze.
Came a message that his unit has stopped working.
I restarted the laptop, but it has not started at all, nothing on the screen, just the fan runs at slow speed. I figured it by removing one of the plates of ram and then with the possible one began almost success except he was not an indication of a sound, just the message "no audio output device is installed", and an 'x' on the taskbar icon sound.

In Device Manager it is not anything related to an audio device High Definition Audio Controller except under the menu system devices.

So what do you think, is this a hardware or no problem and is it fixable.
Hope someone can give me an answer.

    Thanks in advance!

    Have you read this thread:
    https://Forum.Toshiba.EU/showthread.php?82746

    Open the Device Manager.
Then expand the sound, video and game controllers, click on the Realtek High definition Audio choose: turn OFF, then turn ON.

If you can not find Realtek HD audio device (this is the sound card), so I recommend you click on view and choose 'show hidden devices '. Perhaps the sound card appears in the list...

In addition, visit the Realtek driver page and download and install the latest Realtek HD audio driver.

Hope that it could solve the problem

  • No Audio output device is installed... need more suggestions I already tried the solutions proposed by the Help menu.

I get the message "no Audio output device is installed" with the little thing red x in the lower right corner of my computer screen. I looked up problems and common solutions.
I uninstalled the device drivers in the menu equipment and also in the menu programs and features, after this, I restarted my computer before reinstalling.
I did it too, but instead of reainstalling manually, I plugged my audio in a different speaker and let the computer to reinstall the driver by itself.
I restarted the computer, the system restored the computer, put it to sleep, awake it save, close and let rest before restarting it.
I checked the BIOS menu and changed the sound is activated instead of auto and tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers with this option, but the small x is still there.
When I go into my control panel Device Manager and open the sound video and game controllers, I see my Realtek High definition audio. I open it to properties and it says it's working properly... then why my sound is not working? I've also updated the drivers and downloaded specifically on the realtek site, but no difference was filed.

The sound is working again. I went camping for 2 days and came back, and it worked. It did NOT work once again before I left, he was dead. It sounds terrible, it of quiet and fades quieter and the but it works.

None of the suggestions given here did something to help my problem. The proposed update does not work on my computer, I couldn't even download. I'll probably install a new sound card, but I would have liked your comments on this suggestion since I asked if this might be the problem several times. I'm annoyed that there was no way real and say what my problem is that after I answered engineers none of them responded to additional feedback I had given.

My laptop suddenly shows the message 'no Audio output device is installed ". I tried to use the restoration Center to return when the sound worked before but it still does not work.

Other responses to it attaches also do not work as they are involved to go into the Device Manager and on the sounds to reinstall but I don't even have an option of sounds or other one mentioned was to look for High Definition Audio, but it is nowhere to be seen either.

I also tried to reinstall a driver realtek audio, but even once, it did not work. Its as if my laptop has forgotten ever used to produce sound. Help, please!

    Hi HatingComputersRightNow,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    Method 1

If there is no sound card in the list, in the Device Manager your computer does not have a sound card or driver for the sound card has not been properly installed.

I suggest you manual download the latest drivers for the soundcard on the computer by visiting the manufacturer of the card and check if it works.

  • No sound: no audio output device is installed. no choice of audio device in Device Manager.

I started my pc windows 7 today like any other day, and he has not played the music to start. Then I looked at the volume icon in the corner and there was a big red X on the speaker symbol. I go over it and it displays the message "no audio output device is installed". I was confused, so I went to check the Device Manager and there is no sound Devices(or whatever it is called) tab. I then restarted my computer 3 times and still have no sound. I would try a system restore, but I can't choose restore points after the first start I did this morning. My sound card is a card for the Asus M2N - SLI. Any Suggestions?

    Hi j03d03190,

    • Do you see unknown devices in Device Manager?

    Step 1

It seems that the Audio drivers are deleted or removed from the computer. I tried to check for audio drivers for your card mother M2N SLI and could not find drivers Audio in Windows 7. However, I suggest to download the Audio from Vista drivers from the Asus site and install it and check if that helps you solve the sound problem. Access the link below and download the Audio drivers for Windows Vista and install it.

    http://support.ASUS.com/download/download.aspx

    Step 2

You can also run Windows update on your computer and check updates and install and check it it helps you to install the audio drivers and to solve the sound problem. Access the link below and follow the steps to install Windows updates.

  • "No Audio output device is installed" in Vista D610

    Hello

I installed Vista Business on my Latitude D610 and have had for a while with no outstanding problems.  However, I recently downloaded a trial of Camtasia to record videos of the screen but the sound would not record ("record what you hear" is greyed out).  I tried to find an updated driver for the Sigmatel audio but can't find on DELL sites.  Pilot and now I tried to install Vista D620 have a red x on my speaker in the system tray icon and the message "no Audio output device is installed".

Its worked fine until I started fiddling.  I messed with it only because camtasia and jing would not recognize the output of the speaker device.

For me that I can't find a sound driver for Vista for the D610 on the Dell site.

    Any help gratefully received.

  • No audio output device is installed. How can I find one and install?

I tried to clean my computer because he had some free software on it like registry reboot etc.  I think I uninstalled a necessary audio file and now my little speaker icon is showing an x through it, and I get the message "no audio output device is installed" can I easily fix or am I in a big service charge?

    It's easy.

Just identify the audio device in device manager. (which should be listed) and go to the site of the Lim.  Look for the latest driver for your system (don't forget 32-bit or 64)

    Download and install it.

If you have trouble that he tell the model and we can find it for you

    Good luck

  • "No Audio output device is installed" on Dell 6400 with Vista Business

Recently, I noticed that I can't have no sound on my Dell Inspiron 6400. The speaker on the task bar icon now says "no Audio output device is installed". I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver and restart the computer. In my view, that the cause may be either Vista service pack SP1 (I tried your suggested corrections) or the recent installation of the "IDT - Audio - IDT High Definition Audio Codec" via Windows Update. I don't know what to do next short of reinstalling Vista. My terms of reference are:

    Windows Vista Business 32-bit

1.76 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

    2 GB of Ram

    integrated graphics Intel 945

I also have the "standard" integrated sound card I didn't have any special, set.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
