'error ntldr Press CLT ALT DELETE to restart' during the installation of Windows XP

Original title: error ntldr CLT ALT DELETE to restart press

I have a HP Elite 8730w, dule P8600 processor. I had been running XP SP3 when things started to go wrong. Of course, I picked up a boot sector vrius which continued to get me started, but kept wiping my network configuration. I finally thought to it? and managed to scratch the 240g unit. I started to reload Xp HP Cd operating system but it kept stopping at about 56% and finally arrested and expelled from NTLDR is Missinfg Press CLT + ALT + DEL to restart. It will restart but will not read a bootdisk of any kind. I can gert to BIOS but don't know what to do nowob

Bob

Thanks, actually I think that the problem was the result of using a back_up disc. I found an old original load XP and it worked fine the only problem now is the 8 or 9 hours of reloading updates up-to-date, service packs and other software.

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Equium a100-549, about 3 years, Windows XP Home Edition.
Everything worked very well so far. When starting my computer, I received the message:

A disk read error occurred press ctrl + alt + delete
I don't want to lose my data

Please please I need some advice what to do

    Kind regards
    AGM

    > I don't want to lose my data

Well. Everyone knows that a HARD disk problem can happen and all of a sudden you may lose all the data stored on the HARD drive.
That is why it s always recommended to backup the data on additional HDD, DVD, etc.

I'm not sure if this will help but try this:
Try to boot from the disk Win XP (NOT the Toshiba Recovery disk) and press r. means repair and should start the repair console.
The similar DOS window should open and there, you can use a command:
    CHKDSK drive/p/r

The chkdsk command checks the specified drive and repairs or recovers the drive if the drive requires it.

More details can be found here:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314058

If that does not help, then you need to reinstall new OS.

  • Disc error occurred press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart

We have a HP Touchsmart 310-1020 PC.  Operating system Windows 7, we received the disk read error occurred press ctrl alt del to restart after idle computer and my husband has rebooted the computer several times.

We don't have a recovery disk.  I ran the diagnostic tool (F9), and all.

I can not enter F11 - the computer makes a weird staticy noise and does nothing

I can enter the configuration, but have no idea what to change even if I read a number of articles about similar problems with other computers.  No Council does seem the choice that I have on this computer.

I unplugged all the cables, including the power cable (there is no external battery).  I pressed the power button for 15 seconds and reconnected the computer.  It does not seem to do anything.

    All advice is appreciated.

A disk read error is normally an indication of a failure of hard disk that requires a replacement of the hard disk with a new one.

I recommend that you buy a USB usb HP recovery media to restore the operating system of your PC to its previous state useful when you replace the hard drive. You will need an office a SATA hard drive no more than 2.2 terabytes. The storage capacity of the original hard drive was 750 GB. This title is so much easier to find in stores or online websites.

You should have a support of recovery recovery drive series four years ago, when you set up the PC. The initial configuration for the PC software asked one who walks it if they were ready to make a record of retrieving the value.

Recently I had to reformat my hard drive in my dell desktop case and put it in an external case plugged to my laptop running Win 7.  After saving all my files and all things somewhere else, I made a "format C:" and erased the disk now the hardrive is ironed in the DELL and when I put my XP disk in the cd drive and fire I get a "BOOTMGR is missing Press ctrl alt delete to restart' HELP

    Hello

You try to install Windows XP on the computer?

BootMGR is not part of Windows XP. This is the file of boot loader for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    Method 1:

If you try to install Windows XP, you can go ahead and try to reinstall Windows XP from the CD and check if that helps.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/978307

Note: perform a clean install only if you have no data on the hard drive.

    Method 2:

See the article and check if that helps:

  • BOOTMGR is missing, press ctrl + alt + delete to restart

So I found out that I have no boot disk, if windows does not start - I need to insert an installation disc that I did not. I am currently using windows vista - if I were to insert a floppy disk in windows 8, I would be able to install this later version of windows instead of Vista?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Jonathan,.

Thank you to contact Microsoft Community and we will be happy to help you with your concern.

According to the description, it looks that you are facing a hard time while connecting to Windows Vista because of Bootmgr is missing.

Using the Windows 8 install disc, you can perform a custom installation and install the Windows 8 operating system on your computer.

Note: Make a backup of all data before installing.

I suggest you to check the system requirements for Windows 8.

    d. on the Windows configuration page, enter your language and other preferences and then press or click Next.

    e. in the next screen, press or click on install now.

    f. When you are prompted, type the product key in the box. Press or click Next.

    g. review the terms of the license and then select I accept the terms of the license. Press or click Next.

Note: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
