Error of automatic updates

I am running Windows XP Home Edition. Every day, I get the reminder that the updates are ready and I click on install express. After some time a pop-up is displayed, indicating that "some updates could not be installed".  I rebooted and tried again without success. Any advice is much appreciated. -THANKS!

  • Receive error 646 when attempt to install automatic updates

several updates fail to install automatically and are listed as having failed in the update error code 646 story but when I manually install they go on the list of installed updates and if I try to reinstall I get the message that they are already on the system, but still they show as failed in the action center of windows and on the history of updates list. Who is this. they are there or not? I ran a windows Cleanup. tried to remove and reinstall, reboot. I always get the message failed. It's 979441 and 982331. I had problems with the automatic updates before but were able to install and get the deleted manually failure message. I was told this morning when I tried to manually reinstall I did not require 2331 441 and it was already there.

    Hello

Here's what I recommend you do:

1 disable UAC. Down comes the restrictions - turn it off completely.
2 restart your computer for the change to take effect.
3 re - download the update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB982331) from the link below:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7f89a734-cda4-4abb-9a10-f6dfe560e8d0&displaylang=en
    4. install. It should work fine.
    5. If it still does not work, try to open all or part of your MS Office applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel, etc.).
    6. follow steps 3-4.
    7. If it still does not work, follow step # 3 again. After you download it, try to disconnect your computer from the internet (unplug the internet cable or turn off the modem). Then, try to install the downloaded (KB982331). It should work this time.

    Let me know your results.

    Any ideas?

Sorry, you have problems getting your patches installed. I have a number of things for you to look at.  First of all, are your Windows Update and the Background Intelligent Transer Services set to Automaticand started . You can check these settings by typing services.msc in the search box of the start menu.

Sometimes in order to get patches to install correctly, you must perform these tasks manually.

    (1) Download Center to visit Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx.
    (2) search for each update code that begins with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers (i.e. KB979309).
    3) click on the link for the download and then click on download and run.  You must accept the agreement of contract and then click on continue.
    (4) repeat this process for each download of updates Windows could not install.
    (5) to rerun the update from Microsoft, click find updates.  If all goes well, it will show that you are completely patched.

If this does not work, try to run the Microsoft OneCare safety scanner.  Sometimes it will solve problems of hidden registry, or erase viruses can prevent the installation of patches: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm. Click full service scan, and then Quick scan (full scan takes a long time to complete). Try the patches.

    See you soon,.

  • When using automatic update I have error Code 646 for all update 2007 office

Whenever I'm going to update office 2007 using updat auto I get the error code 646. I have to have to review the updates and goto discovers each separately to update and install them one at a time. How to return to the installation of automatic update, so I did not install them one at a time?

    1. maybe repair or reinstall Office 2007. You will need your product key and the original installation media.

    2. try to install the updates with the media in the drive of original installation.

I think it's because of a registry problem that keeps this error for specific products that is why I proposed the repair/reinstallation of office.
