Application of program compatibility does not start

I use a database program in a number of previous versions of windows and windows 7 does not allow the program to launch denial of service.  What gives?

If you have Windows 7 64 bit without BACK program can run because there is no 16-bit subsystem to run it.

Try dosbox http://www.dosbox.com/. If that won't work your program, you'll need either a new database or run the BACK or on a 32-bit version of Windows in a virtual machine like VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org/.

  • Try to install Windows XP but don't get a message: Setup cannot find a previous version of Windows installed on the computer.

    Install XP instead of Vista

I tried to install XP in my laptop ASUS PRO31jr which currently has Vista Home Premium installed.  I updated the BIOS first and changed the boot on CD/DVD order.  Disk load bunch of drivers, then when it gets to the installation, said he cannot find a previous version of windows installed on the computer and calls for an XP Home edition (full version), or a CD of XP Professional (full version).  The CD I have is XP Professional Academic Edition version 2002.  RHE booklet supplied with the disc seems to indicate that this is the full version, and I successfully used to clean install on XP.  Is the drive of my problem?  I would appreciate a difinative answer if anybody out there knows for sure.  Goodwich.

If the message "Setup cannot find a previous version of Windows installed on the computer", you have an upgrade version that requires Windows XP Home Edition installation.

Tried F10, SHIFT F10 and nothing happened. Then I tried a suggestion of virtual Agent to press F8 to get to advance Boot Options, but this option does not appear! Help!

For Dell cptrs, you will need to press F12 to access the unique Boot Order Menu(= a temporary setting), little after the Dell logo appears on the desktop. U hv only 5 seconds to do, b4 the cptr will automatically initialize to top with the internal HARD disk.

....... F12 is usually used to start the cptr since the DVD player or a plugged in USB-flash drive with a Win 7 install or recovery media.

To permanently change the boot order, you must similarly press F2 to access the full Boot configuration Menu. The default boot device is the internal HARD drive, but this can be changed to DVD player, USB, disk, network drive, etc. F2 is usually used to start the cptr of an external hard drive(= USB HDD) that contains a bootable Linux operating system.

If you install Windows 8 a upgrade, you can use the restore feature.

How to recover / restore your previous version of Windows by using the restore feature

    Points to remember:

Given that Microsoft made available the first version of the preliminary version of Windows 10 in early October 2014, there was a misunderstanding that this is not a product you use to replace a facility for production of Windows such as Windows 8 or 7 or Vista. On the other hand, if you test it on one machine, the best recommendation is to create a partition or have a spare ready hard drive where you can install it. Windows 10 in its current state of the pre-release will expire, and at the same time, it's unfinished work. So if you need to evaluate it, the best way is by installing it next to your commercial installation of Windows.

    Benefits

The benefits of testing 10 Windows on a physical partition or hard disk compared to a Virtual Machine include full access to the material, which includes memory, graphics and input/output of the local disk performance can take full advantage of all the features of the operating system that are not accessible in a virtual environment. The biggest advantage is, you do not lose your production facility in Windows and you can restart it at any time.

    Points to consider before:

Backup your current Windows installation. Because you're going to make changes on your computer, you should always back up before doing so. It is strongly recommended! See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    (b) pass the mouse over it to check the name

    (c) right-click on the icon and select "Exit/Disable" or a similar option.

  • What to do when my PC crashed with BOD and calls for a previous version of Windows?

First of all thank you for all the help.

I already posted this question in response to my previous thread but I don't know if everyone saw that since is a response.

    And now the sad news.
I am currently typing this laptop for my wife because my PC is completely crushed.
After being able to finally load these SPs and all my drivers and other software, it seemed that it worked.
I always tried to avoid the automatic update because everything seemed ok.
Whenever I have had more software installed on my pc I set up the new restore point.
In fact twice because the third time I typed system3 and press ENTER to create the new restore point I had immediately the Blue Screen of Death that I'we heard about before.
So I tried to re - install Windows again, but for the first time that I am not even able to do.
He said: Windows didn't start because the following file is missing or corrupted \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Then he said to press r in the first screen to try to resolve what I did.
With my original XP cd in, it took me for Windows set up where I faced another problem (new).
He said: Setup cannot find a previous version of windows installed on your computer.
He asked me to insert my original cd with NT, 95 or 98 on it.
OK - I've upgraded from 98 years and I still have this start up par 3 1/2 98 but after moving so fast and technology upgrades for my Office Perrine drive seemed like the size of space.
What are my options to resolve this problem?
    My HD could be fried?
Couldit be some project of pirates or viruses?
I 2HDs a C: 40giga.old Western digital that I had my Windows and second giga D: 120 which was more for backup and storage.
After having all these problems I always C: formatted and reinstalled Windows but never really messed with my D: drive.
Could there be something on D:, even after fresh Windows would keep jump on C:?
Also why it asks me to insert the 98 now and not more recent before when I formatted and resettled C: windows.
Once again thanks for your help.

I have everything working fine now.

Here is the link to which fixed my problem.

    • Recent changes made to your computer: just updated to windows update
    • What have you tried to solve the problem, I tried to look at Windows Update and also send mail to Microsoft

Read the following article to see if it helps to solve the problem: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&dl=false&l=en&s=gen&docid=6CF68D431EAAB41BE040AE0AB6E16686&doclang=en.

Are you still using the BTTray?  If this isn't the case, we can solve the problem in a more easy way.

Go tohttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and run Autoruns and click all.  Search bttray.exe or mfc80.dll and when you find it uncheck the box to prevent it from start to start.  Check the entire list as there may be several entries.  When you're done, click OK and restart.   The message should be gone.

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

    I hope this helps.
