Error reading hard drive

on startup, I get an error of hard disc.
message also says press Ctrl/Alt/Del to restart.
Sometimes it works and after doing this five or six times, the computer loads windows etc.
Sometimes, I also have a read error when the computer is used and the system stops a car restart.
The drive sounds very loud when I have this problem. Sound like something mechanical is to hit some sort of stop.
As I could eventually get the PC works as it is now I think ther hard drive should be OK.
This could be something to do with the hard disk driver?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Appreciate any help I can get.
David Giles

Hello David

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop you have. Is an old or a new model?

In any case, it seems that the HARD don t drive works fine (if there is a rattling noise). Is it possible to check with another HARD drive?

I have two hard drive installed, a flash drive, when I load the software and a second disc more where I store all my data. Today, for more security, I decided to encrypt the data reader by right clicking on the drive in the finder and select Encrypt. OK everyone, after 10 hours of repeated attempts of the total system allowed me to log on, I can only imagine that some of the data which were relevant to the connection was being encryption that I was trying to log? So if someone is in the same situation patience is necessary.

  • What does that mean? Hard drive error. Hard drive 1 3F1?

The product name is hp pavilion dv4-6000

    Error message-

A failure in the hard drive test indicates a physical problem with the hard drive. In other words, that it should probably be replaced. It is relatively in line with impatience, so you should be able to do it yourself. What is the exact model of the laptop number? I'll find detailed instructions for you.

In case you do not want to replace the drive yourself, or if you feel that you can still be in warranty, I suggest to contact the HP Support for your region. If you are in the United States / Canada you can contact to the 1-800-474-6836. If you live outside this area, you will need to go to HP's Site's Support.

In addition, you will need the recovery disc to restore the original operating system.  If you have any earlier, you can contact HP to get them.

  • My TV does not read HARD drive Toshiba 3.0

I ask excuseme for my English! I'm Italian...

    I have a drive hard toshiba 3.0,.
My samsung TV to the beginning to 'read' my hard drive, but then the TV does not recognize and I so format, losing my saved videos!

    What is the problem?

Maybe you should check the user manual s TV for more information on the format of file or the support of hard drives.
I know in many cases, the hard drives or flash memory sticks must be formatted using TV to get the file format supported special that can be read by the TV.
I think it's kind of right to privacy with the movies recorded could not be edited on computer.

  • Satellite Pro L630-12F constantly read hard drive

My laptop 2 months old, satellite pro L630-12F, running windows 7, just started to constantly read the hard drive in windows. The light is still on. When I try to do something, it takes forever-. for example, click on the start menu. Wait a minute, while the cirlce thing appears and the start menu.

If I do too much hard drive starts to make a ticking noise and possibly a BSOD appears and it restarts.

If I try to stop or restart it takes forever to do.

When I go into safe mode, it just does the same thing.

Any suggestions as to what is happening and how I can fix this problem?

    Hello
At first I thought that the constantly HARD drive activity can be because of preinstalled McAffe and HDD scan but this info on ticking noise and possibly a BSOD is really strange and I'm afraid that there must be another reason m.

Have you noticed this behavior from the first day or later?
It will be interesting to know if the same behavior is with its own OS preinstalled. Can you install new OS by using recovery image and test it with the factory settings?

In the worst case I mean that the HARD disk must be exchanged.

  • Recurring HDD error - new hard drive

I've been in contact with HP on a recurring problem with my g6 Pavillion - there periodically blue screen errors and then won't turn on, shows an error 'hard drive '. Then, he refuses to start up for anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. I sent it in for repairs, she returned with a new framework of screen (?). More hard drive errors. I called and they sent a new hard drive for me.

Today, I installed the new hard drive. When I tried to start it for the first time, I was greeted with yet another error of hard disk. I ran a test, he said that the hard drive was fine (it used to say that before, sometimes too, which is probably why they do not have to replace it in the first place). Turned off and turned on again - it has started well.

Now it works, but I don't feel no better about it because she had this initial error. Is this normal for a new disk hard failure right after having been hung? It has been installed of course very well, I'm typing this message on a fully functional laptop now. I'm tired of living on a portable player (it's a bit like living in a suitcase), so I should be grateful if you would ensure that the laptop is not just going to crash again, but it seems to me that the new hard drive will not be my solution.

I have an extended warranty - but I don't have the luxury of time when it comes to sending, as I am a student full time and use the tutorials online every day.

She would need replacement motherboard, which is not necessarily a death knell for the computer. Since you have a guarantee, it would be covered. Unfortunately, he would send it in for service. It could be done locally outside the warranty if you live in a decent sized city for maybe $ 300-350.

My question is; errors on the hard disk will be the heat from the hard drive, or it is possible that the vibration of speakers when I listen to music or movies. vibrations in the notebook which will produce errors in the areas of hard drive? I need help, make a decision to buy a hard drive or disk solid state drive SSD for my laptop. If the damage resulted from the vibrations unit solid disk should be used, have the disadvantage auque wear cells and edit video, use programs all the time and make heavy use of the hard drive. I would recommend the Pc, with its expertise in this area.
Except that I would like to know what specification Sata I, II and III; supports my laptop is a Dell xps x 502; having in mind these hard disks:

Free fall sensor driver can be installed and works with a replacement drive. It is obviously not necessary for one SSD.

    army03dad10usa,

What has happened is that the drive has failed. You need to replace as soon as POSSIBLE. There's no other choice.

    The drive you mentioned is a 640GO Sata300, commonly referred to as a 640GO 7200 rpm SATA 3 G (3.0 Gb/s): http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01911649 (PS > also by the parts list).

I hope you did DVD + R set point recovery. If this is not the case, try to get them now. http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01867124

    Now the situation.

    (1) you have to buy a 640 GB HDD or more. Small will not work. (Potential error).

    (2) little choice on Sata300. But the most recent Sata600 will work fine.

  • Brand new dv6t - install Win 7 Ultimate Clean - error "no hard drive found."

Just shot my new w dv6t quad edition / WSSD 32 GB out of the box. Goes for a clean format and install of Win 7 Ultimate. Once started from the bootable DVD, I get an error 'no drives were found. No disks/partitions won't show.

When I start in the existing installation of Win 7 Home Premium and initialize the disc for installation of win 7, there will be readers... but I can not format or delete as a that I need to boot from the disk.

Seems to me like a driver for the WSSD/HARD disk problem. If someone has encountered this? Any help is very appreciated.

    SOLVED.

You must open the computer and physically remove the WSSD garbage 32 GB module and disconnect the HDD in RAID mode.  Basically, the computer to get rid of the disease and the setting not save as a standard HARD drive.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS THIS OPTION!

  • Compaq V5305WM used to read hard drive

Hey, I got this computer for free and I would love to make it work, the problem is it will not read a hard drive to load an operating system, I can start it from a live cd of puppy linux, but it uses RAM for everything, is there anythin I can do to get it working? Ive taken out and cleaned everything also is there a way to update the Bios on this topic if you can boot from usb? Thanks for the help, Kayden. P.S. I'm not a computer Genius by far so if you could help me understand the question that would be great.

There is no need to update the BIOS to boot from USB. All you need to do is change the boot order in the BIOS. I found a good how-to on About.com article on how to change the boot order. Here is the link: change the order of Boot in the BIOS

Are you able to pull the hard disk to test it on another computer? Possible, the hard drive is defective and needs to be replaced.

    I hope this helps!

  • Satellite Pro P200 - Smart error "imminent hard drive failure".

Hello! I wonder if someone can help me.

Start the computer, the other day the S.M.A.R.T diagnostic program came suddenly on saying a "hard drive failure may be imminent," when I open the Intel Matrix Storage console, it says that the hard drive in port 0 has had a S.M.A.R.T event recorded against him but that of port. 2 is 'normal '.

Port 0 is the volume of the operating system on it and if so what would be the best way to back up the disk and what someone knows how to change the hard drive and how much approximately would this cost?

    Thanks for any help inadvance.
    Paul.

    Hello!

In my opinion, you should back up all the data as quickly as possible. In the worst case you could HARD drive might completely die and then you are not able to save the data on it.

After that you should swap the HARD drive. It s depending on the model of HARD drive you buy how much it will cost but drives hard are not so dear to our days. I think that it will be possible to get one for 50 Euros.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - error "password HARD drive built-in" at startup

Hi, my laptop (Satellite Pro 6100 P4 - M 1.7 GHz/15TFT/256 MB / 40 GB/DVD-CDRW/LAN/WiFi/BT/W2K or XP) started rather recently invited me with a "Built-in HARD drive password" message at startup upward. I never put no password on the hard drive in the past, though only in desperation to try to get the laptop running, have tried all the possible passwords I have ever had. Nothing works and I'm failed with a laptop dead on my hands. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone can make.

    Thank you.

    Hi Khurram

Unfortunately I think that you will need to replace your hard drive. If your laptop is definitely ask a HDD password then there is no way around it and the only way I know to recover from this situation is to send the hard drive to a specialised company that specialize in this kind of recovery (usually for forensic purposes, Police, armed forces, etc.). This can be very costly.

The easier (and cheaper) option would be for you to replace the hard drive and restore your system and your data (either from a backup if you have one, or from the Toshiba recovery disks).

    Kind regards
