error system32\drivers\fastfat.sys when you try to start windows xp

I've upgraded to a new laptop with windows 7 and had to get some files off my old Acer laptop which has windows XP is installed. It won't start windows now and I get a "windows is not start because the following file is missing or damaged:

System32\Drivers\Fastfat.sys
I don't have the original Windows disc as it was an OEM laptop, I have not either the recovery discs. Can anyone help?

If you can remove the drive of your laptop then this adapter you can connect it to your computer as an external USB drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156102

I have been using bootcamp to access the 10 Windows for quite awhile. It was working perfectly until a member of the family installed a Windows Update, but the battery is dead during the update. Following this window would charge any. A black screen with a blinking cursor. After that, I went back on fairing and wrong used the partition synchronization tool. Now, Windows is in a worse state and the "Missing operating system" message when you try to get back in. In addition, the Mac startup disk no longer allows me to reboot the laptop using the bootcamp partition, as if the partition is not more detected. Disk utility simply shows a greyed out "Disk0s4."

  • error system32\drivers\fastfat.sys

Windows XP does not start on my old Acer laptop. I need to access to get some info out voltage work to use it on my new laptop with windows 7

Now that we know what the message really says, you can set to see if you can fix it.

I don't know why on my system at home, it works fine if the fastfat.sys file is missing or damaged (I reproduce both scenarios), but maybe the Acer machines ask him.

You must boot to something to start to repair, so do a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console and get that working first.

According to Acer, your system has a CD/DVD drive.

Fortunately, XP keep copies of important system files in other places on your system, so once you enter the Recovery Console, we can see on the replacement of the file.  I suspect that your antivirus/antimalware has quarantined (actually deleted) file.

You need to get this CD bootable XP Recovery first Console, I would run the chkdsk/r as shown and and report back that it works, then we can move forward.   It is likely that running chkdsk/r will solve your problem of missing file, but run it anyway.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Get the F3-F200-002 error when you try to start Windows 7 64-bit edition

I have a Toshiba Satellite computer laptop C855-S5214...   I had to restart the computer after an AVG update. It closed and restarted and got stuck on the windows icon (icon was always moving / floating, but it wouldn't keep loading)...  He did this thing even a week or two ago... We took out the battery and put it again and it booted up fine... this time... nothing...   (don't ask me why we pulled out the battery... we (that is her husband) did and told me eventually--)

At first he would stop at the windows icon and just stay there forever...  Then, I did F8 and started in safe mode... which worked well...  I tried to do the repair, and it comes to say it could not be repaired and to close... then I tried the last known good configuration startup and that did nothing at all... literally... after a few readings on the internet, I decided to use my 5 recovery disks from Toshiba that I made when I came to the computer and try to reformat save my files... I went into Setup and said to boot from the CD/DVD-ROM, because I could not do that without forcing this way... he got through 3 disks and then the disk 4, I got the F3-F200-002 error and now I can't do ANYTHING without getting this error can not enter setup F2...  I get the error until it's here, so I can't recover even to change it to boot from a hard disk instead of the CD/DVD drive...  I can get to the F8 screen but what I chose, I get the error...  I even tried to put in disk 1, as it is supposed to be the 'solution' to this error, but that does not work either...
