Your first post was unclear: I thought you were trying to install SP1 manually (after downloading the Setup program), not via Windows Update.

When you reinstalled Windows, the free trial of Norton would have also been reinstalled (but not valid, of course). Do you have (1) uninstall the Norton free trial once again and then (2) download/run the Norton Removal Tool before you (3) reinstalled NOD32? [Yes/No]

Remember: you can always open a free support incident. See my previous response.

  • Satellite x 200 SLi: I lost sound after Vista SP1 installation

    Hello
    I have a Toshiba Satellite x 200 SLi

After I installed the SP1 of Vista, I just lost sound and even update the audio drivers... I still have several problems such as: sometimes the sound stops, errors, try to display movies... etc...

Vista tells me that I have Norman for update my drivers but I already have the last avaiable driver on TOSHIBA page.

    Anyone with the same problem?
No idea how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

The problem is that Microsoft's Vista SP1 makes trouble. The problem is that not all drivers are compatible and fully supported by SP1.

I think you have a Realtek audio chip. Perhaps have you check the site Web of Realtek s the latest HD audio driver

If this doesn't help, then you will have to wait until the new update is available (or you will remove him SP1)

    Hi esakhani,

    Thanks for posting your question.

Due to Windows Update, you can try running a Fixit tool from the link below:
How to reset the Windows Update components?
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

After you run the Fixit, in order to install Service Pack 1, you can follow the procedure:
-Download and install the latest Windows Update Agent:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/946928

-Run the computer system preparation tool.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947821

-Download the stand-alone package for the Service Pack 1 from the following link:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B0C7136D-5EBB-413B-89C9-CB3D06D12674&displaylang=en

-Turn the computer in clean boot mode.
Disabling/uninstalling security software installed on the computer, as appropriate.
-Launch the installation of the stand-alone package of SP 1 to the clean boot.

Let us know if that helps.

  • Windows Vista SP1 installs, not anything else

None of the suggestions work threads. I reinstalled same full operating system from the original cd. I had already replaced the hard drive as the old man a bad wwnt. Just curious, if maybe the old hd had a license or something attaching it to the product key and maybe that's what's causing problems?  It seems to me like a lot of people have had this problem where the service pack says it installed, but is not displayed, and continues to appear in Windows update. What a shame. Doubtful that we'll never know what caused this to happen and why there is no patch from Microsoft to simply fix.

    Hello

You can change the hard disk; It's activation with a new motherboard that you have problems with if you change this.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you which SP you have installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

    Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30

  • Vista SP1 Installation 936330 question

    Hello

I bought a HP Desktop used with Vista Business on it. Vista SP1 (KB936330) shows (two) installed and cancelled in 'history of the Windows Update.  The last time I tried to install SP1 a message stating that "this will take a few hours and your PC may restart several times" appears.  As soon as I started the Setup he quit smoking.

I tried to solve the problem using the method described in the article, "Windows Vista SP1 (KB936330) issue", but it did not work.

At this point I don't know if Vista SP1 has been installed or not - because he says that both cancelled and installed - as mentioned.

Another point that may touch, is the PC has only either 7 on it.  I tried to update IE 9, but whenever an error message appears and I can't download it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Jim Tinsley,
Here are some steps to start with.  First to perform a clean boot on your system.  Then, run the following:
    Disk error checking
    System File Checker

Then Download SP1 and try to install it manually.

  • Vista SP1 installation failed and now my system is unable to start.

I tried to install the Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) and it stalled for hours with this line of text on the screen nflickering:

    !! 0xc01a001d! 28461/88529 (\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedData...)

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop computer with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I have tried everything you can imagine on these forums - including:

-Rename the configuration files of the prompt c.
-creation of a true recovery/repair disk (Toshiba only sent a system recovery disc, not a repair disk) and attempt to run the repair from here (nothing was fixed and instead restart, he went to a black screen)
-attempt to restore an earlier point but, as many others have remarked, the installation of SP1 apparently removes all set points, so it's been a bust
-a tried to run chkdsk f / but who gave me an error indicating that the volume has been used and did not work.

NOTHING works! I can't boot my system, and frankly I'm furious that Microsoft has failed to solve this problem for 3 YEARS according to assignments in these and other forums. I've always been a devout person PC - a bit too elitist for me to Apple. But I am absolutely disgusted that I potentially have to do a complete reinstall, including downloading all my software again for all my other programs.

I am the Coordinator of health care for the County, I live in, have 3 kids to take care of and frankly, did not have the time to deal with this kind of setback. I worked on ALL this DAY, ruining the Superbowl Sunday, something that the people at Microsoft obviously don't care no difficulty. That tells you how much they care about customer support, I guess.

If anyone has found a viable solution to this problem that CREATED Microsoft with an update that was supposed to IMPROVE their Vista defective product, please, please, help! I wish I had never entered in this horrible computer vacuum! Only, I tried to download this update because I received an email from Microsoft that offers a download of Windows 2010 beta to try, and everyone spoke of so many Windows 2007 (unlike Vista) I thought I would give it a try - only to find out that I had to have SP1 to install 2010. I feel I'm in a Kafka story.

  • Installation update KB936330 (Vista SP1) fails with error 8007371B code. No one knows what is the cause?

I've had this problem for awhile now and it seems to be no details on how to stop the resulting error code.

This update seems important.  I can download all other updates without problem and downloaded system preparation tool already and tried to install the update by downloading it manually - the same problem occure.

    Can anyone help please?

I tried the above and the error persists.  Is there another way?

Sometimes the error is then replaced 0 x 0190002 then 0xc0190005 when stopping down.

Note that I am on windows vista ultimate SP1 x 64 = programmer Noob =-

    Hi Tamalero,

You got the error message indicates that mshtml.tlb is damaged and there is one possibility of other files system is corrupted as well. All what we need to do is to rename the DLLs corrupted, restart the computer and let start the computer normally to complete the installation. Follow these steps to rename the corrupted dll file.

    (1) Insert the windows vista dvd and boot from the dvd.

    (2) select repair your computer.

    3) click on command prompt

Type the following commands and press ENTER after each line

    C:

    CD windows

    CD system32

    Mshtml.tlb.old mshtml.tlb Ren

    (4) output from command line

    (5) restart the computer and boot up normally

If you GET the black screen with a similar error and one different (other than mshtml.tlb) file, make a note of the dll file, repeat steps 1 to 5 and type the name of the file in step 3.

Restart the computer. It may take a while and you will be asked to connect to the desktop computer.

Check in system properties if SP2 is installed.

I hope this works. If you still have problem please do after back...

    Thank you.

    Hi error_counter here:
do a "repair" is only starting problems, and once they are solved, the problem persists (mshtml.tlb error)
I tried to remove this file, but then the error from 0xc01900036 at 0 x 000034
so I'm stuck again, I don't know why the file mshtml.tlb is really important to "detect" If service pack updates it anyway.

and like I said, even though vista windows SP1 supposedly has DONE a system restore point, no system restore points were detected by the dvd (one of the things that I hate about Vista than their restore points are a draw, and you can get by no unnecessary work anytime..)

the thing which allow me to return back to SP1 followed the instructions of another post here, related to the error 0 x 000034 in this forum but for SP1.
I went to the c:\windows\system32 directory and renaming of software files, security, SAM and default and replace them with copies of the REGBACK folder in system32\config
It could back me to SP1, unfortunately a quirk stuck me then in an infinite "configuration updates 3 of 3" forever time it boots (it restarts itself after a few days). and had to delete pending.xml file

That did the trick... for now, since everything appears to be damaged (I can use the program and the work very well, but no file windows update will not work).
SFC detects inconsistencies but he did not get to 100%, it stops at 34% saying it had problems and "could not perform the requested operation."
I also tried different microsoft tools. as the URSCheck and he only says: "this update does not apply to your machine.

so I guess my whole installation is really really corrupt (and makes me really hate Vista more reason, until now almost all my facilities or computers other people that contains vista, are full of mistakes or quirkcs diferent that prevents normal use.)

so Im trying to install Windows 7 in another partition and Im thinking in whiping it that soon everything is installed there.
