  • I get the empty error message when clicking on "send & receive in Windows Mail.

Original title: I receive a blank error message when you click "Send & Recieve" in Windows Mail.

I recently asked a question in the Microsoft answer that I could access Internet Forum is no longer my favorites to Internet Explorer 8 (although they were always on display in the folder My Favorites in my user account folder.)  Several fixes to this problem have been proposed, but the one that worked was when it was suggested that I might have a corrupted user account.  I was directed to Microsoft link "How to fix a corrupted user profile." I followed the instructions and created a new user account and copied the files to the new account. Was done to correct the problem, and now I can access all my favorites still in IE8 in the new user account.

However. I am now no longer able to send or receive messages in Windows Mail. When I click on "Send & receive" I get the box that says "some errors occurred while processing tasks requested. Please see the list of errors below for more details. "However, the box below which is supposed to list the errors is completely empty. I contacted my ISP (Virgin Media) provider, who did various diagnostic tests. They told me that this isn't a problem with their security, and they checked my account settings to make sure that everything is correct. They seem to think that this could be a problem with my registry. They sent several messages test (arriving in my web Virgin Media mail box), but for some reason are not getting downloaded in my Windows Mail. On a few occasions did pass the test messages (but only after I closed Windows mail and then reopened.) However, Windows Mail has stopped working again.

Just once, I got details of an error that has been ' ERR protocol error. Port 110, secure (SSL): 0X800CC90. 0x800ccc18 error number. "However, it was the only time. All other times, the error box is completely blank.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me solve this problem.  I'm very IT limited knowledge.

I looked in the links provided by Karena & Bruce, but they did not provide a solution to my particular problem.   I must say that I have noticed some improvements to Windows Mail but the button "Send & receive" still does not work properly. I can now send and receive messages.  If there is no message on my e-mail server of the Virgin, access automatically when I open Windows Mail. However, if a new message is sent to me and as I click on "Send & receive" Windows Mail is already open on my computer, I always get the empty error message. The only way I can access the message is to close Windows Mail and re - open once again, when the new message is downloaded automatically. I found a link that says this error could be due to a duplicate news account.  I found that I had two ms.news accounts in my Windows Mail account and remove one of them.  However, this has not resolved the problem, and I'm still only able to receive new messages by the opening and closing of Windows Mail.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

As I pointed out, sometimes turning off the analysis e-mail messages is not sufficient. That still leaves his hooks in there. Analysis of the e-mail may be harmless for a long time and then it throws an update of Kaspersky. Please remove Kaspersky, restart and then reinstall in custom mode and remove analysis when it is presented e-mail messages.

Other than that, the only thing I can think is your modem or router. That's assuming that all of your settings are correct.

At first glance, it seems that a few things wrong with the settings you have for a server outgoing (SMTP). I think that Westphalia broadband uses mail.4wbi.net as the incoming and outgoing mail server, not pop.4wbi.com (note mail instead of pop ) and .net instead of .com. These are the servers listed in this article:

I'm not ensure that these settings are correct. Rather I suggest to find the page to set up your own mail server and use the parameters described in this.

"Crash" is usually caused by interference from a non compatible anti-virus program. What antivirus do you use? At a minimum, email, scanning in the antivirus must be disabled, but maybe it's not enough to eliminate all the bad effects. In the worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If disable your antivirus e-mail analysis feature does not solve your problem, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less sensitive to the suffering of the ill effects of too intrusive antivirus programs: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

E-mail analysis in any antivirus must be disabled, for the reasons explained here:

  • Problems sending/receiving mail - error number: 0x800CCC0E - "the connection to the server has failed..." »

    De : Briangie

I've been out of town for a few days. I was using a public Wi - Fi connection to my laptop. The first part of the week worked fine, but now using the same wireless connection, I receive the following error message. Has happened since yesterday afternoon 03/10/08 and today is 05/10/08. What is the problem? Help, please!

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.charter.net', server: 'mail.charter.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, Socket error: 10060, error number: 0x800CCC0E

    From: Gary van

In Windows Mail, go to the tolls, accounts, select the account mail.charter.net, properties, advanced. Change the port number for the incoming (POP3) server from 995 to 110. Make sure that the adjacent SSL option is not checked. Click OK.

As a general rule, the owner of the SMTP server must be the same that provides your Internet connection at the moment.

The workarounds available when sending abroad are the following:

    1. use webmail to send (via your browser).
    2. ask your ISP if they have one port other than '25' for SMTP. I do not think that
Charter of fact. Cable companies are very difficult to accommodate travellers.
    3. If you frequently use the same connection away from home, replace the SMTP Protocol
Server in this respect. It's a little tricky, but if you want to go this route.
    I can provide more details.
    4. If you frequently send to multiple locations, get a free Gmail account,
Configure it to POP access and use for your shipment of household chores.
Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked as is port 25.

I have, I've been making the mistake of another email on another connection on below = the same PC configuration SMTP and POP3 works on another PC but when I try the frame to the top of the same bet on the same PC I have two connections I get this
    message;

I readt through this channel and have tried most of the things listed I have Norton System works 2009 I tried it is installed and uninstalled as well.

    I'm running out of ideas?

I tried port 25 (which works on another PC) but on this one it is not.
I tried the 587 port not working either.

    anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

    De : Gary van

I guess that your problem is with the reception, because the error message you have provided relates to the reception.
Ports 25 and 587 do not affect receive it, because they are for the shipment.

The error message is difficult to assess because you x'd, one part of the name of the server. Perhaps the error is in the part "xxxxxxxx" to the name of the server.

Make sure that you can access your e-mail via webmail, if you have this option to ensure that it is not a problem on the server.  Then locate the antivirus interference and ensure that the analysis of the electronic mail is disabled (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).  Try to remove your e-mail account and then close OE and then add it back again and then see if it works.

    Hello

Your ISP, who runs the mail server, can provide port numbers and other settings. Pages of help/support of the ISP may have this information easily accessible.

The other common cause of error 0 x 800 is safety programs - an antivirus program scans incoming or outgoing e-mail, or a Firewall interferes with authentication.

    Hope this helps,
    Don
