Error Windows Media Center full disk, but the disk is not full?

Watching TV Live I get a 'Disk full' error after 10-15 minutes of watching (HD if it matters) telling me to delete recorded programs or assign another drive. I havenotregistered program and my assigned drive has 50 GB of free space with 40 allocated in the WMC settings for recording/tv live (although I have no record).

I want to wrong thinking that 40gigs of free space should be much to just watch live TV?  It should not just delete the buffer to rewind etc once it fills up?

PS once I get this message if I closed and reopened WMC, he worked for another 10-15 minutes, then gives the same error.

Edit - don't know why, but this ended in forum music and sound

I had the same problem and found that not a single one of these solutions has solved my problem.

I solved it by making a backup copy of the recorded TV (c:\users\public\public TV recordings) directory and then delete this directory. When you open Media Center, it seems to recreate the directory hidden in the directory recorded TV (\temprec), which is used for the live TV buffer, freeing all the corruption that may have already.

  • Security Suite blocking Windows Media center to connect to the Extender

I was initially a little happy home network with an xbox 360, a wired router and my pc under Windows 7 ULT(64bit) Norton 360 AV. During my AV license expires, I downloaded the version of my ISP (Norton Security Suite 4) to replace.

Now I can't Media center to add or discover the Extender. I added to Windows Media Center svchost.exe to the list of permitted programs, but it doesn't have the thing.

In help on the xbox live forums, suggestions are to work with the Windows Firewall not Norton. The Norton software has a different interface for the administration of the rules and I saw not a place where you can designate which programs can access which ports. And half of the programs listed as Qwave, Remote Desktop etc, I can't even find the interface of Norton.

If anyone knows or has worked this issue before Norton Security suite please respond when you can. Thank you

    Hello

You can try the steps below and check if that helps.

    (a) in the main window of Norton Internet Security (Protect computer, privacy), in the network pane, click settings.

    (b) under smart firewall, in line with program control, click Configure.

    (c) in the control of the program window, click Add.

    (d) in her select a program dialog box, locate the executable file for the program that you want to add.

    (e) click Open.

    (f) in the program control window, select the level of access that you want this program to have

You can also check out the link below and check if that helps to allow access to the Media Center Extender.

  • Receive the error "Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed" after the video card replaced

I have a HP computer with Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) Service Pack 2.  He has a VISX PureTV tuner card and already had an NVidia GeForce 8400 graphics card.  This Setup has worked well for 2.5 years until what the graphics card died last week.  It has been replaced with an ATI Radeon HD3450 and both all Windows updates have made current.  Since that time, the TV tuner did not work.

When you sign in to an account, it gives the error message "Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed".  I can use Media Center to watch the recorded video before, but if I try to watch live TV he hangs up and close Media Center.  If I try to configure the TV connection in Media Center it tells me that there is no tuner card.

I looked at the map and see no problem and I tried it back in place.  He has the most up to date drivers (so does the new Radeon graphics btw).  I tried "Uninstall" in the Manager of devices and then put it back, but it was not good.

"Windows Media Center Receiver Service Stopped Working and was closed" I tried all the fixes I've seen this error.

I tried all the things I saw here and elsewhere related to this issue.  I did a "clean boot" with all non-Windows services and the disabled startup process.  He always did the same thing and gave the same mistakes.  It seems to be linked to a Windows service, and I hesitate to begin deactivation to track down.

I ran 'sfc' in mode 'cmd' and he found no problem and none of the files to be fixed or could not fix.

In the list of services, I changed the login for "Windows Media Center Receiver Service" to "Local System account", Local Service, Network Service and individual accounts, but no permits.

I'm afraid I'm at the point of having to reload the Vista, but I don't know how to do this and want to avoid at all costs.  I don't have the recovery disks and software.  Is this enough?  Can I reinstall from the recovery disks without wiping everything aft of the configuratiion with which it was delivered?  I guess personal files will be OK (although I don't know this for sure), but I'm afraid I'll have to reinstall other applications, my family has developed over time and perhaps lose the media protected by DRM licenses.

Someone has encountered anything like this or have any suggestions?

Well, I finally stumbled into the solution.  It was caused by a conflict with another application.

A few weeks before the card failure I had installed a program called video capture Replay Video Capture that I had bought a few months ago and never used.  However, at this time where everything including the TV tuner and Media Center worked well that's why I associate the problem with this software.  The problem comes after the system is rebooted the first time after installation.  In my case, it has not been rebooted until a few weeks later as part of the recovery of the fault of the graphics card.  Suddenly, the TV tuner did not work and I get the error messages mentioned in this title of the thread.

I was at the end of my rope with this and was just to clean your system to do a reformat and reinstallation.  I uninstalled the Replay Videa Capture program to move it to another computer, and when you restart the computer I noticed that the error message disappeared.  Of course I went to the Media Center and could set up my TV tuner card and watch television.

Looking for some info on this conflict, I found the following. (http://forum.applian.com//showthread.php?847-Conflicts-between-RVC-and-XP-Media-Center-OS&s=c0aec9897b51d550c47b919e73e59bfc)  It is difficult to say who is at fault in the present.  I'm sure that Microsoft accuses Applian for the encoder to mpeg (mcm2ve.ax) used in Replay Video Capture, while Applian says that the problem is a Windows process (ehrec.exe) that works all the time, hogging the tuner on the system device.  According to Applian other products similar to theirs have this conflict as well due to the process of Windows.

Fortunately, there is a solution in this case.  Applian has released a new version of Replay Video Capture (version 4.2) that uses a different mpeg encoder and eliminates the problem.  Given the surprising lack of info about it on the Microsoft Web site, I wonder how many other people with this unresolved issue dealing with the same thing as me.  If you're like me and you don't usually need to reboot your PC for a few weeks at a time, you may never know to associate the problem with the application.  What a waste countless hours trying to diagnose, and most disconcerting, that's what I was about to go through a reformat and reinstall because of this.

Thought I'd post here my problem resolution in the hope that it might help someone else.

Original title: WMC no longer works after update of August 10

Windows Media Center has stopped working after installation of my Windows 7 Professional pc all 11 updates gave me on August 11, 2010. I used system restore to the day before the updates, and install them individually. The first 9 no trouble with WMC. But the IE8 KB982664 for Windows 7 compatibility view list caused my action center to report that I needed to check the undeclared solutions to problems. WMC would still start. But after installing KB983590 .NET framework 3.5.1 for Windows 7 x 86, WMC has stopped working.

After you uninstall update 2 above WMC would still not start.

After using the system again restore forward updates, I installed the other 9 updated with, so far, no problem with WMC.

  • Windows Media Center has stopped updating the lists Guide for Windows 7

Windows 10 will go out the next Wednesday July 29, 2015. I have Windows 7 and I have technical problems with the Guide in Windows Media Center lists. This isn't updated Guide lists and I wonder if this problem is related to the upgrade of Windows 10?

I called a technician to answer Microsoft desktop and the technician fixed my computer errors. Unfortunately, he could not fix this problem. Even though I always reset and auto update of listings in the Guide, the result will prove be the same with "no data."

Windows Media Center has given me many error messages:

    Windows Media Center

"Windows Media Center has corrected a problem with your registration data and will download the Guide even once. You should review your records to make sure they are always planned properly. »

    Failed to download

"The new TV configuration data could not be downloaded. Existing data, if any, will be used as you continue by configuring the TV signal. »

    Downloadable guide is not available

"Downloadable TV Program Guide listings are not available due to previous failures of download. For more information, right-click on the Windows Media Center system tray icon and open Windows Media Center update log. Select back to try again. You may be able to get the TV show lists, if they are available. »

    Guide download error

"The Guide could not be downloaded. For more information, then Windows Media Center system tray icon right-click and open Windows Media Center update log. »

I can watch TV on the computer using Windows Media Center and manually record TV shows, but it is difficult for me to record TV shows without ads Guide on Windows Media Center.

Note to update (as of August 2, 2015):

The Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for Windows Media Center Guide ads was already programmed by zap2it until July 21. After July 21, zap2it is no longer can update the lists Guide for Windows Media Center.

July 23, Rovi Corporation's new Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for Windows Media Center Guide ads.

From 23 July, listings in Windows Media Center Guide is running back to normal for Windows 7 users.

My Guide Panel is equipped with a selector more [on the listings in the Guide] where is the expiration date. I hope that Microsoft does not support Windows 7 WMC.

Please don't waste your time trying to solve the WMC, it is the expiration of the license that is causing the problem. I know it's frustrating.

On the other hand, is - can anyone say with certainty that WMC is available on Windows 10? No charge for the upgrade to Windows 7?

The way I see it, not providing the function of key in W7 WMC guide is motivation upgrading to W10, assuming that WMC is available.

Hopefully Microsoft will give us the fix for WMC in W7.

  • Windows Media Center has stopped finding the info guide

I have Windows Media Center in Windows 7

It worked very well for a few years, but about 2 months ago it stopped to show the guide.

When I set to manually record a string at a certain point it works very well.

I also think that, when I looked in the section regular programs, it shows programs at the request of record (I can check to confirm cela if nec.), but when I go on the Guide grid, maybe 1 or 2 channels appear and IE not avaiable

I have confirmed that the time is correct and tried to restart, and refresh the guide - but nothing has worked.

I contacted Zap2It - but they said that it is the Windows Media Center, causing the problem. -any help is appreciated.

FYI - I just did a full rescan of the tuner and channels - and now it works.

  • I have problems setting up Windows Media Center TV Tuner to the Canada.

I live in the Canada. I have Windows 7. I tried to set up my TV Tuner (for cable-vision, not Internet TV) in the 'Windows Media Center', but there is no "Canada" on the regional list to download my local channels. How do I pass this roadblock?

Because your computer is 5 years old I guess that TV Tuner came not from IBM. However if that were the case IBM ccontact. If she has not contacted the manufacturer of the TV Tuner. The driver name must match the name of the TV Tuner. You can try to download a driver with your computer. Make sure that your Tuner is connected to your computer. Go to configuration panel, Device Manager, expand "Sound video and game Contolllers" Double click on your Tuner, select the driver tab, click on get updated driver, follow the prompts.

  • Impossible to change the Windows Media Center guide to allow the use of ot TV relay stations (translators)

Live TV with Windows Media Center, where RF channels are different from that of the guide because of the distance TV translators (relay Stations)

Cannot change the guide to allow the use ot (translators) television relay stations where the RF TV channel is different from the current station. For example, Station POLO6N is 9 RF channel in Eugene, OR, but here on the coast, it is the 35 RF channel. Zip code for our region apparently points to the station itself RF channel and the number of 1092 is shown and dimmed so that it cannot be changed. How the inputs of channel can be modified to adapt to this situation? Here on the coast, we're out of range (mountains, etc.) of the station itself.

    BH

I have apparently discovered a way to watch and record live TV using Windows Media Center where the geographical area is served by the translators of the TV and the.

If you configure the TV channels using only NOT the guide and using Add missing channels feature to add and configure the channels you use before you download the guide, you can set the actual RF frequencies of TV translators serving your area. In my case, I had to add the letters TD after the call signs of stations so that when I load the guide, he be to point to the current channel.

After having added all channels and before loading guide, check the reception using the function designed to help you in the pointing of your antenna. Then load the guide and your channel configuration is retained and stored in a file pref.xml which apparently replaces the channels.xml file created by the loading guide.

Unfortunately, detailed documentation on the product missing apparently (help files I found only State to follow the guests), or I didn't find it. In all cases, you can use Windows Media Center to watch and record live TV if you live in an area served by the translators/TV relay stations with different channels channels over-the-aor real real TV stations.

If you find that you need to change a channel, use channel add rather than the function Edit channels, clear the X in the box and start over with this channel.

  • Windows 7. How can I remove the Windows media Center programs recommended in the "Open with" section?

I select which application (Word, Excel, etc.), they all open with Windows Media Center. This happened recently and I don't know how to cancel it. I see the Windows Media Center in the 'Open with' box where it asks you to "choose the program you want to use to open this file. How I remove it from the section "recommended programs"? I see that Internet Explorer is also in this section. What should be there as well? What actually belongs to this group?

"I see the Windows Media Center in the 'Open with' box where it asks you to"choose the program you want to use to open this file"." How I remove it from the section "recommended programs"? »

A pretty easy regedit should remove an application from the section "recommended programs". Here is a procedure step by step on how to do it. Unfortunately, I don't think that will solve your problem. What seems actually to have occurred is either your .lnk .exe (or maybe both) have inadvertently been associated with WMC. Out of the list of the programs recommended for the open with dialog box will not change. In fact, the next time that you open the program, it will open in WMC and add automatically return a program recommended in the open with dialog box.

There really should not be whatever it is that you open a .lnk or .exe with because you really don't want to open them... you want to run. To determine if the .lnk or .exe associated with wrong, you can either watch the extension file associations in the control panel > programs, or you can see if it's a shortcut or the actual executable file that does. Need to know who, or if she is at the same time, in order to complete the fix.

Once you know it, this link will show you how to restore the default file type link. Matter of fact, now that I think of it, it wouldn't hurt to just restore default settings for .lnk and .exe.

"I see that Internet Explorer is also in this section. What should be there as well? What actually belongs to this group? " I may be wrong, but I do not believe, you should really see anything in the open with dialog for a .lnk or .exe. Again, you don't want to really not open them... you want to run. The shortcut .lnk file goes to the executable and runs the .exe program.
