ESATA cable in HP dv6 3290br

I can connect an eSATA cable in a disk hard 2.5 "more portable. If it is possible, what eSATA cable should I buy to use HP dv6 3290br. I saw this cable on ebay:

http://www.eBay.com/ITM/2-5-3-5-HDD-hard-disk-drive-SATA-22P-to-USB-combo-dual-power-eSATA-cable-/33...

Can I use it? If this is not the case, everyone knows what I'm buying? At the same time, I thanks for any help.

Hello

If you try to use eSATA (external SATA), then you need the cable would connect the disk and your laptop. It is to connect a hard drive or other devices via external SATA.

If you would like more information, I suggest you read this article: eSATA.

Thank you

  • ESATA cable will not adapt to the port

I have a laptop HP dv7-4065dx, which has a port eSATA/USB combo.  I just got a LaCie d2 quadra external hard drive, which came with an eSATA cable.  The fine cable fits the port on the hard drive, but I can't get into the socket on the HP.  The shape looks right, but it will not be perfectly just enough.  Seems a little odd and frustrating... are there several types of eSATA cable?  Ill-fitting eSATA ports/cables are common?  I could not find much evidence of either, but who knows.  I'm a little annoyed at the idea of having to buy another eSATA cable just to test.  Someone at - it had a similar problem?  Thank you.

OK, I managed to do it slow and finally after bending upward the two flanges (brass?) on top of the port.  I thought that's what was being caught after watching closely.

  • "You have to format the drive" error after the use of USMT through an Esata cable

My company migrate to Win 7. We use the USMT to capture state powered hard drives Lacie user, putting on our image of Windows 7, then restore the capture user. However, the other day I was in a laptop computer with an Esata port, so I used it on the usb port. Then when I tried to boot from the disk and mount the image, he said "No BONES on the disc" so I went back in windows was watching the drive to make sure it still worked and, all the user data was their. Then I put on the side, fell on the image from another drive (wipe and load method) but when I went to restore from the first disc "you must format the disk to use" you will see. and it appears on each computer in the plug in.

This happened also another technology that happened to try Esata instead of USB. This is a nightmare that could cost me my job if I don't get figured out. I am running facilitated us data recovery Assistant, who finds some 9 500 files on the disk, but it will take 22 hours to complete. And I think that he has a simple solution, I don't see. I think that the Esata some how made specific to this laptop drive at the time.

Any suggestions or responses are greatly apperciated.

    Hello
The file system on the drive may have a problem.
Try running a disk check to check for everything on the hard drive:

  • Toshiba Stor.E D10 on Satellite A660 PSAW3E esata connection

    Hello!!!

A few days ago, I bought a 1.5 to Toshiba Stor.E D10 eSATA HARD drive.
I tried to connect it via the eSATA cable. At first I saw my D10 HDD 1.5 in Win explore (Win 7 Home Premium x 64) as drive E.
When I tried to access the drive, I get a "device not ready" error I was expecting 5 minutes with HARD drive connected externally. I got the same error. When you look in the Device Manager in the records section I couldn't see it. All I see is the internal 640 GB HARD drive.
When I connect it via the USB 2.0 connection, the drive is recognized and working properly. I could transfer data to this subject with 23MBps max on USB 2.0 speed is 60MBps (480 Mbps).
As I work with huge video files (~ 10 GB per hour of video) I need an eSATA connection to expedite the transfer.

Plese help me with this problem!

  • Drive external HARD is compatible with eSata on Satellite L655-158

    Hello

I buy a L655-158 this weekend, I also intend to buy a Seagate external hard drive that fits the eSata using something like that: -.

"Times that are up to six times faster than with USB 2.0 powered Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Upgrade Cable of eSATA transfer is designed to keep pace with you, to offer you!

With the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Powered eSATA upgrade Cable you can easily and inexpensively switch interface GoFlex and GoFlex Pro Ultra-Portable from your hard drive at speeds ultra-fast eSATA.

The FreeAgent GoFlex Powered eSATA upgrade Cable works with any port powered eSATA/USB combo, and is compatible with the ultraportable GoFlex and GoFlex Pro drives. Please note that it is not compatible with standard eSATA ports, not powered.

Take the time to transfer upward with the FreeAgent GoFlex Powered eSATA Cable upgrade to Seagate.

    General information
GoFlex connectors for eSATA/USB combo port
Other compatible with ultraportable GoFlex and GoFlex Pro readers. "

So, my question is the compatible adapter with eSata on the L655-158 port, is the powered port or not? If this is not the case, what are external drives others who enjoy the ease of eSata, and well what they are doing?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

    > So my question is the compatible adapter with the port eSata on the L655-158
There are just sort of eSATA port. If the external HARD disk supports eSATA interface so I guess you can connect this external HARD disk to the port eSATA to the Satellite L655-158

My laptop has 3 usb2 port and an esata and I would be sure that esata is more quickly before you buy an esata hard drive box.

Here, he mentioned "4 USB 2.0 ports (4th port shared with eSATA)" and «1 eSATA + USB port»  This means that using esata controller usb2 and I cannot get better transfer note with esata?

It's a shared port and if you connect an eSATA cable connects directly to the pci-e bus than eSATA. eSATA is a little faster than USB 2.0, so I would but eSATA has largely disappeared from computers recently in favor of USB 3.0, so you limit what you get out of the unit on the computer future upgrades. If you think you want to use the device in the future, I would like to get a box of USB 3.0 and eSATA no, even if you can find one that has two ports, if you look.

  • Problems with cable eSATAp on T420

I'm looking for help to find the right cable for use with my port hybrid eSATA USB Lenovo Thinkpad T420. I've tried the cables from 3 different sources, and none of them plug into the port of all the way.

I don't know if my port is damaged, or if I'm just using the wrong cable, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here are the most recent cable I got:

    Link to image 1

Here are some photos illustrating the situation:

    eSATA pins on the port:

USB pins on the port, with the back of the visible port. No obvious barrier I see...

    the eSATA cable pins:

    Pins of the USB cable:

As you can see from the photos, all the pins of the connector seem to match the port, except for the P12 and P13 12V power pins. These pins are present on the cable, but not on the port. However, I understand that these pins are optional...

Anyone had a similar experience? I use the right cable?

    Thank you!

I saw your post in the forum 'other' thinkpad first and unrecorded. Here's what I said:

I don't have a thinkpad with eSATA right now. My T520 has integrated graphics, (eSATA only on discrete), but I have a mother T510 here with discrete graphics card that has the same port. My eSATA cable plug AND there is a gap similar to that of your photo. I didn't measure the gap, but it is between 3 and 4mm. What does not work? Do you know that your eSATA drive requires a separate power supply? Powered eSATA ports are not generally available, and certainly, the port is not powered on yout T420. When I use a 2.5 drive "connected to eSATA, I use another cable that connects the cable power (+ than the 5V & ground) to a USB port. (USB on one end and SATA power supply on the other) I had my cable, but I'm sure you can find one on eBAY. When I use a drive 3.5 "I use a power supply from an old desk.

  • Pavilion 500-366: sata to esata support connection

On the motherboard sata port works fine with a sata drive (i.e. 3.5 "HD) connected, but does not work when I connect an esata bracket for use with an external hard drive. I tried two different sata ports.  I did not have this problem on other motherboards. Support connects to the motherboard via a regular sata cable port.  I'm sure it's a simple solution, but little aid is necessary and would be appreciated. Thank you.

Keep the external hard drive powered and connected eSata cable. Restart the system.

Suspect that Hot-Swap is not active.

We have a server IBM xSeries 336 which must lead more space. It's a test machine, so best performance and reliability is not necessary, we just need more space for the virtual machines.

I think to get card-SAS Adaptec RAID 2045 and attach a disk external eSATA to it with mini SAS to eSATA cable. Would this work? I know that ESX doesn't really support sata but the card is at least on the supported list. ESX sees as SAS/SCSI or SATA drive and I was able to use it as a space vmfs?

    Hello! Hello!

I could ask for help? I use the laptop that has blocked the function unknow password for bios.

Now he run after press F12 or internall HARD drive I can boot it from CD.

I'll buy the eSata cable. Please tell me when I connect the esata on an external drive cable, the laptop will start external unchanged operating system in the bios settings?

If it is worth to buy this cable? Maybe without knowing the password bios nothing what can I do?

    Thank you for your help

Unless the eSATA drive is set up before the hard drive in the BIOS Setup, you will not be able to boot from it.

You will need to call Dell, verify your ownership of the system (if the system is out of warranty) to pay for a support call in order to have the authorized password.
