• laptop freezes at the office on a log-in user only. ESENT errors

  Acer laptop - Windows 7 Home Premium - 2 user profiles of school boards. One works perfectly. Other starts Windows slowly, shows the wallpaper, begins to show the desktop shortcuts, then freezes before be correctly displayed. Start button responds sometimes. Sometimes I can disconnect / stop but it is slow and delivers a message that an application prevent the closing. System Restore didn't help. Safe mode shows exactly the same problem. Safe mode startup repair is no problem. Norton AntiVirus found a handful of tracking cookies, nothing else.

• multipal errors on errors same Viewer Esent 454 and 551

  I have a problem with closing to take so long to show "Turn Off and restart" that I have to use the Task Manager to close. I also have problems with the recovery, and if I look at the event viewer / Applications, there are Multipal errors Esent error 454 and 551, and the reason is error 454 is "database recovery/restore failed with error unexped 551»

  The basic problem is that I am unable to run Windows Update.
  I get the error,
  "The Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running." You may have to restart your computer. »
  The service is running, and I am able to stop it and restart.
  I crossed my event logs and was able to come up with three different mistakes that I think some research are related. I have read several forums including a few on this site that say I need to fix 50202. But I'm unable to locate this hotfix, microsoft has removed all the items that have been linked to him.

  I was finally able to resolve this problem.  I found the answer on another forum and it solved my problem as well.

  The error was caused by Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology program that comes with my Toshiba laptop.

  I guess the old driver did not like the new 640 GB hard drive, I installed.  Maybe it was designed only for up to 500 GB (that's the size of my old hard drive which worked well).

  Technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology program was shown in the notifications of the taskbar with a yellow exclamation point.

  As soon as I put to update this driver at latest on the Intel site, Windows Update and everything worked.

  Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem

  Have Vista Home Premium on an HP laptop. Running Norton Internet Security Antivirus and firewall.
  There is a month upgrade Office 2003 to Office 2010.
  With Office 2003, I used to give a list of updates, and I would choose where I wanted to, but noticed

  recently that I had no updates online. When I click on the button to make an update, nothing happens.
  In addition, advanced search in Outlook does not work, it ends in a microsecond and produces no result.

  Tried to change updates to not automatically updated, and then again on auto - no effect.
  Tried to go in safe mode and still couldn't do an update.
  Have run ccleaner and Tweaking.com Windows don't repair - no effect
  A ran a repair on Office 2010-no effect
  Have checked in that Crypto, BITS and Windows Update are all in automatic mode and Services are started.
  Have run the Fixit for update problems, - no effect.
  Running the program and got - Windows Update Standalone Installation Setup met with an error-0xc8000247
  Ran sfc/scannow and it brings just a search without search results window.

  Have noticed in the Event Viwer:

• Errors on Windows Vista KB2470478 ESENT

  I am running Windows VISTA Ultimate SP2.  I've had this laptop for about 4 years and have upgraded memory and drives without incident selection until I recently updated to a new 1 TB of HARD drive.  I now receive errors of ESENT this update of Windows and all programs that through this link are broken.  This research I found this all traces to have need KB2470478 FIX for the HARD drive is new and uses the Advanced Format.  However, I can not install the PATCH because Windows Installer now receives an error 0xc8000222.  This seems to be an error of round robin in this Windows Installer needs to Windows Update which needs ESENT, but can't use it because the new hard drive is an advanced Format and now requires the FIX...

  How can I get this fix installed without losing everything from the past month?

  Reformatting or reinstalling is not an acceptable answer since this is specifically related to the use of the hard drive again.

  Here are the steps I used to solve this problem.

  First of all, I found that there was a more recent patch available

  1. download the hotfix and copied to a USB key and stop the machine.
   
  2. change drive hard outside in the original and kick up.  Connected and installed the fix. (Must restart)

  3. after the restart, reconnected and copied the esent.dll (6.0.6002.22531) of C:\windows\system32 on the USB key and stop.
   
  4 has changed the hard drive to the new and booted up.  Connected and started an elevated command prompt (start in the C:\windows\system32 directory).
   
  5 type the following commands, where user_name is my administrator account on the system:
   
  takeown /f esent.dll
   
  ICACLS esent.dll/Grant UserName:F
   
  ESENT.old esent.dll Ren
   
  6 copied the esent.dll from the USB key in the system32 directory and restarted.
   
  7 connected and successfully launched the fix.  Restarted after fix and machine booted up without error and I was able to successfully launch Windows Update and application log is error-free.

  My driver software is the latest version for my computer. The game keeps giving me this error message too. The Sims game that I didn't say not what are its requirements, but it is a very old game. 2003 is the year of the games. I tried to lower the resolution of my screen to the lowest setting and that did not help. Other options to try to make it work?

  You can try to install in compatibility mode and see if this will help; about the only other thing is you go on the game manufacturer and see if they have nothing else, you can try. It's perhaps the game just won't work in windows 8. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  I asked Microsoft and they have no information about it. I tried two different computer cleaners in hopes that would help. I also deleted all the files that I think are unnecessary. I don't know what then. Help.

  CMD-> Netstat said that programID '4' is tuned to this port, which is the 'system' (NT Kernel & system).
  But I guess the 'system' works as a proxy internal, then what program should really listen to this port, is clear to me...
  I was not able to find rootkits on my PC and I'm not using proxies. Also, I haven't seen any screen asking me to 'trust' of the certificate, nor have I could actually find the certificate not approved in FF... To the left of the address bar, FF shows me the correct certificate of the site, in green, and don't tell me that it is not valid...

  If you are trying to access https://localhost:26143 / Firefox shows the certificate error page? Going through the motions of calling the dialog box add Exception to view the issuer of the certificate could help shed more light. I do not recommend actually add an exception, however.

  OK, I certainly can reproduce this problem. My guess is that the site is currently implementing of measures against the recently published widespread vulnerability that allows the Web servers with a certain version of openssl running on them to be exploited (heartbleed.com) & is pass their certificate.

  a feature of advanced security in firefox is picking up this change as the site does not seem to be fully updated for this new certificate. You can temporarily work around the problem:
  
  enter on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling. Double-click it and change its value to false.
  
  However, it is important that after some time when the problem is solved by the site (maybe try again in 24 hours), you go back and turn the setting to "true" again!

• Thousands separator rejected

  I have 3.6 numbers running on a Mac Powerbook.  Is there a way to obtain cells accepted numbers pasted value that contains thousands separator (comma, for example, cut and paste from a financial statement online).  It's silly and also frustrating to have to remove in order to avoid the red triangle format error, when the cell is already set to show it again!

  I can copy and paste (for example $23 500,00) from the following sources and just paste the value in a cell to v3.6.1 numbers with the cell format set to automatic. The original formatting is preserved.

     1. To the currency format, 2 decimals, and thousands separator

• unknown error during the synchronization of large amount of bookmarks

  I have thousands of bookmarks, but has not been able to sync. I always get the error message: ' Sync has encountered an error during synchronization: unknown error. " Synchronize automatically retrying this action. »

  In order to solve the problem several times I reset the remote data, but always the same error after a retry.

  I also export bookmarks and re-imported (which replaced the existing bookmarks). Still the same problem.

  Any ideas how to fix?

  Generally the bookmarks are not the majority of the data synchronized (story takes a big piece of storage).
