• EMC XtremIO Gen2 table, vSphere 5.5 and Windows Server 2012 R2 EFI

  We spin the new array of XtremIO Gen2 a POC of EMC and discovered a problem with customers running Windows Server R2 2012 or the EFI firmware.   After a few weeks of troubleshooting by engineers from VMware and EMC/XtremIO, the question was determined to be a problem starting EFI replace a block of 7 MB in the XtremIO table, which filled the queue, and who would never clear that he expected more data to complete the communication (i.e. deadlock). This seems to happen only with firmware of EFI VMs (tested with 2012 Windows and Windows 2012 R2) and the question is on the end of XtremIO.

  The good news is that the problem can be mitigated by adjusting the Disk.DiskMaxIOSize parameter on each ESXi host by default 32 MB 32768-4 MB (4096). You can find it in vCenter > Home > Configuration > advanced settings (from the bottom) > drive > Disk.DiskMaxIOSize. The XtremIO team is working on a permanent fix in the meantime, and the workaround can be implemented hot with no impact on ongoing operations (potentially minor host CPU load increase as ESXi breaks > 4 MB e/s in MB 4 pieces).

• Flash does not not on IE11 Desktop on Windows Server 2012 R2

  I tried and I think I've read everything already posted about this, but all the solutions I've seen already correspond to my setup. Yes, I have installed Office experience. Yes, I turned off IE Enhanced Security Configuration. Yes, I can see Shockwave Flash Object in Manage Add-ons and it is enabled. I tried the manual update of Adobe and it says that it is already installed.

  OK, so with all these foundations of the road, I am at a loss to understand why it does not work. I don't get any error message, just Flash. When I go on YouTube, the player appears as a black box, but no video appears.  When I click on check now on Adobe Flash version checker (in: Flash Player Help), instead of reporting a problem or an old version number, this is what it shows:

  What is happening and how to fix it? I guess this is bound to make Windows Server R2 on IE11 2012, but I don't know that for sure. The same YouTube site works fine on Firefox via HTML5 (I have not installed Flash on Firefox), but this does not help in Internet Explorer.

  ActiveX controls are enabled when I had the problem. In the end, I just did a full reset on IE, which fixed it. I should also correct a material error in my original post - Flash was not the cause of my problem, it was NOT HTML5 Flash video video was not working on YouTube. So, the real problem was that IE was launching the HTML5 version of the site instead of the Flash version. I don't know why or what I had done was causing the problem, but "Internet Options". Tab 'Advanced ' | "Reset" button... ", including the removal of the personal settings fixed whatever it is.

• Hard drives not found when you try to install Windows Server 2008

  Hey guys and girls,

  I've spent the last 20 hours, trying to solve the problem of not being able to install windows server 2008 r2 on a new Dell server.

  My configuration is:

  Dell PowerEdge R310

  4 x 1 TB 7.2 K SATA HDD

  Controller Raid PERC H700

  I can't even install the drivers that I downloaded from the Dell support site because Windows Server 2008 Setup will not recognize them.  These factors include the Raid Controller, chipsets Intel, SATA etc.

  I used the settings default, all changed the Auto Off Ports and vica versa, I put the server in Raid and ATA mode with all the possibilities, but it will be will not detect any HD!

  Please help, as it is essential for my health, employment and mental health.

  What OS?  What RAID controller?  How many discs?  The size?  RAID level?

  I can't assume that everything is the same, especially when you have a different system altogether which does not support the H700 (so the files would have been meaningless even if Dell had not broken links). :)

  The first thing to check is to ensure that all four OMSA services are running. They appear as DSM in services. You can also make a change to the Setup from Add/Remove programs and make sure that the storage options are installed.   Ignore them, you don't need them. They are desktop/laptop consumer utilities that are not intended for servers. You must install OpenManage Server Administrator instead.

  I use 6 merger on the latest version of OS X, I have an old Windows 2000 VM I replace w / Server 2012. VM 2000 uses the TCP/IP (v4) Protocol, but does she not get automatically IP address - I have defined it on a specific IP, default gateway, subnet mask and DNS server address:

  If Windows is allowed to automatically fix the problem it restores the settings "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

  I'm new to Server 2012 and can not put something correctly or merger. Is there any good guides to do this properly?

  Based on what you said re by using the static IP of your router info, the only aspect of what lies on the side of VMware Fusion of things is to map virtual Bridged network under its parameters of the Machine and of course select the suitable under Bridged Networking on the network card worksheet adapter.

  The other side of it is a matter of Windows.  A static IP address are defined essentially all of the Windows Server 2012 as any other version of Windows with a GUI over the past 20 years.

  BTW, I can reproduce the problems of Diagnostics Windows network found message "DHCP is not enabled for"Ethernet0"" and assuming that you actually have an Internet/network connectivity, what I do with a static IP address and received the same message from Windows, then I would simply ignore the message.  If you have no network/Internet connectivity, then that is another story!
