  I have two Macs.  I ran HP Easy Start approximately 3-4 months on a MacBook Pro and if I look in the directory "/ library/printers/PPDs/happy/Resources ', I can find the PPD that corresponds to my M477fdw printer.  Everything works perfectly fine with this Mac.

  I just bought a MacBook and tries to run the HP Easy Start on it today.  I did install the HP Easy Scan v1.5.0.12 (which was the only choice to install it), then complete the program installation but no PPD files have been installed in the directory "/ library/printers/PPDs/happy/Resources.

  Two Macs are running El Capitan (v10.11.6) but when I ran HP Easy Start 3-4 months ago (when it worked), I was probably on an earlier version of the dowry of the OS.  I checked the logs on the MacBook, and nothing stood out to me.  I used an administrator account to run HP Easy Start, but he has not made a difference.  I ran the tool command line for fixing disk permissions ("" sudo/usr/libexec/repair_packages - repair - standard-pkgs - volume / ""), but he has not made a difference.

  Can someone help me understand why HP Easy Start doesn't work for me on the MacBook?

  Solved.  I found a post that basically describes the following procedure for MacOS El Capitan:

  1. Under "system preferences > Security & Privacy > General > enable applications downloaded on:", take note of the current value (for me it was: "Mac App Store and identified developers").  Then select "Anywhere."
  2. Run the "HP Easy Start".  This time, I had the option of installing "Essential software" - which was never released before and of course, it makes all the difference.  Complete the installation and configuration of the printer.
  3. Check the printer works as expected.
  4. Under "system preferences > Security & Privacy > General > enable applications downloaded on: ', select what you had before.

  No reset the print subsystem, disk first aid, setting the permissions of the disc, or restart is necessary.  Now the PPD files are installed and everything works as expected.

  I checked the security and privacy settings on my MacBook Pro (which I had already installed this driver) and he was also to "Mac App Store and identified developers ' so I think that when I first installed the driver files in the past, I had this version and another version of MacOS behaved differently with regard to the security and privacy settings.  Or, possibly, HP doesn't have one of its files to the installer sign properly after the update.

  In any case, I hope that this message will help someone in the future.

• Cannot access tab 'Configuration' printer "PostScript File"

  When you use the "PostScript File" printer in InDesign (for Mac), the 'configuration' tab fields are inaccessible, and I can't change the orientation, paper size, or use the scale to adapt the service (please see the reference image).  I was wondering if there was a reason for this, or if someone could help me?

  You choose the option 'device independent' your PPD file. Size of the page being an option device-dependent, it is not applicable. If you want to make PostScript for a specific purpose (and most people do), use a specific PPD. 'Device independent' is really just a useless default.

  As mentioned above, the print to file is a very old method, my memory no one now uses it (just test my computers, none of them do work). To be honest, I used this from dos and Windows 3.1 years. I don't know why save as file is harder to Print to file. Also, as mentioned a bove, the software allows the user to save as pdf files and you know the world of PDFs that you?

  My iP8720 does not print PDF files. It doesn't matter if the file has been created in Acrobat 8 Pro, Word, WordPerfect. It does not matter if the PDF contains images or text. It print files of Word and WordPerfect, as well as Photoshop, etc. PDF files seems to be the only problem. I use Windows 7 Ultimate. Any help woud be appreciated.

  Make sure that the correct driver for this printer is installed. Sometimes during installation, either disk or online, the incorrect printer driver has been charged, and that's why it wouldn't print PDFS.

  Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and check the number.

  Step 2: In safe mode, delete the printer and spool driver files. To do this,

  a. Click Start, click my computer.

  b. navigate to the following locations and then delete all files and folders in the following two folders (where C: is the drive where Windows XP is installed):

  • C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers
  • C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86

  Michael!  Something that worked.  I printed a pdf of pg 4!  Here, it is a print option, but he was off the screen, and I noticed I did scroll to the bottom of the page that the printer has been change to fax, send to a single Note, Journal, etc.  I think I've probably hit the? next to the help when I haven't seen print and quit - every time.  Thank you so much, that solved a big problem.

  Someone else had put the partial reset online as a way to solve the problem of outdated cartridge - it did not help this problem, I still "magenta to expiration" - which was replaced.

  I have recently acquired a very nice printer for all-in-one HP PSC-1401 someone and did not have the chance to use it with my Ubuntu Linux computer until today.  At first, I checked the scanner section and found that it works well.  But when I asked to print a small text file, kept printer printing a file that had clearly been stored in its memory

  a previous task.  So far I could not get rid of this strange file in any way.  What is more, Linux shows the PSC1401 printer as default printer as well as the text file I want to print.  But the printer does its own thing.

  Another very strange thing, it's that the printer prints even when USB cable is not connected to the computer, which is be a HP d530 table top.  Is the PSC1401 a machine wireless?

  I would like to close this post I just solved my problem by running the following.

  sudo apt - get remove hplip

  sudo apt - get install hplip

  sudo apt - get update

  CD/usr/lib/cups/filter

  sudo ln-s foomatic-rip foomatic-rip-hplip

  I owe my gratutude to bryan641 to www.linuxquestions.org to the last two commands, which allowed HPLIP - 3.12.2 and so my hP printer to work in Ubuntu 12.04 1401.   Now all my previously reported problems are gone for good.

• Acrobat DC cannot print PDF files

  I have a customer having problems with printing PDF files.  They have Acrobat DC Standard and can open any PDF fine, however when you try to print nothing happens.  Acrobat does not even send the print job to the printer.  We have tested on several printers, and the problem is the same.

  I have ensured that all the accurate and up-to-date printer drivers are installed

  Acrobat Standard DC is updated to 10/02/16

  The printer can print other jobs by other software (Word, Notepad, etc.) without problems

  PDF files will print if I open them in Adobe READER and print from here. It is only in Acrobat DC they won't print.

  I found many other messages from the forum on the same or similar topics and the best answer I found is the workaround mentioned printing from Adobe Reader.  Most mentions that it is a problem that adobe has had for some time (the most useful forum topic dated back to may 2014), but nobody has an answer on what the problem is caused by, and what it solved for good. only workarounds.

  Is there a solution to this problem that I can apply and have the product works as expected for my client?

  OK, so all the world is aware of those annoying of the headers/footers that are placed on each page during the conversion of the HTML files in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Fortunately, they are easily disabled once find you where this particular configuration is hidden (and hidden it is 'file-> Create-> Web Page PDF-> settings...-> Place headers and footers on the new page' rather than in the Preferences section where one might expect it to be).

  But what when * print * HTML file with the virtual printer "Adobe PDF"? The Print Options 'Adobe PDF' window has no such adjustment. The only parameter that looks even indirectly to the above mentioned is one that says 'Add document information', but it does not affect the inclusion of these Auto headers and footers.

  Yes, is there a way to * print * HTML file to PDF without these unwanted headers and feet page in the same way you can * convert * HTML file to PDF free of Auto headers and footers?

  In case anyone is wondering why not * convert the file to PDF format instead of print to PDF, it is simply because the conversion to PDF does not apply the margins of custom page and custom page breaks. So, if you want a PDF document with custom page margins, then print format PDF is the only way to go. Conversely, if we want to preserve the interactive features such as HTML links, cursor to highlight styles, etc., then conversion to PDF is the only way to go. In this case, I need to custom page margins - but I certainly don't need these headers/footers automatic boring.

  Nevermind, I solved it...

  Apparently, the Adobe PDF printer relies on (default?) web browser print settings. In my case, since I use both FF and IE, I open the file-> Page Setup in both browsers and set all the fields blank/Empty. Now, Adobe PDF print without headers/feet of any non desired.
