ESX 3.5 & Vsphere 4 (Esx4) network functionality difference

Hello guys,.

I would like to know the difference of Esx 3.5 & Vsphere 4 (Esx4) according to the network.

Network functionality particularly improved vsphere 4. I don't know that it has been already answered this question in this forum. But I couldn't find anything relevant.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi all

I have a problem with HTTP Client in LV 2011 functions.

As you can see in the screenshot attached, I try just:

    -Open a handle-> no errors

-Send a web request using the GET method-> error 58

    -close the handle

The problem is that a 58 error: "the network function is not supported by the system. However, it works fine when I type the same URL in a web browser.

You have any idea of what could be the problem? Thank you in advance for your help!

    J.

I have fixed the bug: there was a white at the beginning of the URL... (!!!). I deleted the empty character and now it's OK.

  • You can disable network functionality

It can move, but I didn't know where he was going.

I have a Tungsten E2.  I have a ball of baseball scoring software package that I use in this topic.  Whenever I get back something, the Palm is looking for a network service.  Is there a way to disable network functionality?  I looked through the manual and saw nothing.

    Thanks for any help.

The only characteristic of 'network' has the E2 is Bluetooth.  But it seems that the software itself is trying to establish a connection, as if she's trying to connect with a place to download data... has it always done this?  Perhaps there's an option or preference in the software that turns off this feature?

Oh Yes... I moved this to the Commission of software.

I'm sure that no one has done it, but I accidentally deleted vSwitch0 vmnic0, and now I can not access the ESX Server with vSphere or via http. Anyone have any suggestions on how to recover from this error erronrous?

    Thank you

you need console access remotely to your ESX host, but you can try

    esxcfg-vswitch -L vmnic0 vSwitch0

  • ESX4 NETWORK card driver update

    Hi all

I need help here. I have ESX 4.0 running on a Dell Poweredge 2950 server. I installed a new network card, then I downloaded the driver because a restart would not recognize the new card.

Now the document for the installation of the driver needs to mount the CD that contains the driver and place to the location that contains the file offline - bundle.zip and then run the command

    esxupdate - bundle = & lt; off line-bundle & gt;. Update zip.

My question is since the Dell server is to an offsite location can I place and download the .zip on my home directory on the server and run this command, and what I have to give the full path such as home/user/offline.bundle.zip. What is the correct syntex

I come from a solaris environment, so I'm assuming that if there is a similar function to the package instead of/var/spool queue.

    Kindly help

    Concerning

In short, Yes.  To expand a little bit, you will need to know root to run this command if you have logged on with your standard account.  Make sure you su - or su and use the full path to the binary esxupdate (/ usr/sbin/esxupdate).  If you knew - so you take on the complete environment (paths, etc.) from the root, if you just knew so you always use your standard user account environment and therefore would need the path full access to run the binary file.

If you have found this helpful at all prices please points using the correct or useful!  Thank you!

  • How to add in DVS ESX hosts with vsphere SDK for perl?

    Hello

I am a newbie to vsphere SDK for perl. Just started using it for automation of one month back. , I was looking for options to automate the addition of ESXi servers and their physical cards in the distributed virtual switch. I got some details on how to add using powerCLI. However, my requirements are in the use of vsphere SDK for perl. Any help would be appreciated.

Have we not like subroutines or plug editable in vsphere SDK for perl inorder to add host ESX in DVS. ?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Lebou

You can certainly do it in Perl.  I don't have a working example, but perhaps that William will be when he catches this thread

If I have time tomorrow, I'll try to put something together to help you get started, but you can also simply map the logic of LucD script.

Basically Get - view is equivalent to Vim: get_view() and New-Object calls should be mapped to the type of object in Perl, for example, instead of VMware.Vim.DVSConfigSpec New-Object, we $spec = DVSConfigSpec-> (again).

  • Convert ESX 3 VMs vSphere 5 mV (Win 2 k 3 STD).

Hello to everyone.  Familiar with ESX 3 but a beginner to vSphere 5.

I have a single host of ESX 3.0 (Yes... he have updated years ago... I don't know) that I am now ready to move VMs from him at our new 5.0 ESXi host (vSphere Essentials so I put my vCenter available now).  My problem is that vSphere converter does not list Win 2003 STD as a compatible host OS... ?  The converter just does not work on a Server 2003 STD or if she isn't just officially supported?  Just one question before I go hunting a herring-saur.

Also, if anyone knows a set of documents or a path to do this conversion, I appreicate a pointer in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance!

  • bottleneck in the autonomous base config vsphere 5.0 network?

    Hi all

I've been running vsphere 5.0 on a single host.

We do not have all of the "addons".

I noticed when I did a backup (first time), on our file server,

I don't see vmnic2 pull upwards, and the virtual server was very slow copy files while a backup exists.

None of the other NICs had any network activity.

There isn't any traffic AGAIN on any other virtual servers.

is that what I can do to aliviate this?

I will be having soon added intensive virtual server from ad network

and from what I see, if both are back up at the same time.

nothing will work, because everything will pass by one of the network adapters.

can we establish switches separated for each of the VS 'intensive network '?

so they have a dedicated network adapter?

What kind of performance do you have when you do your backups? It could be that the CPU of the virtual machine is overloaded leading to slow file copying.

However, if you see that the NIC is overloaded you could make some adjustments with this, such as the creation of a second vNIC to the virtual machine, with a clean backup network / IP subnet, who put on a portgroup separated and manipulate the vmnic active / standby for each portgroup. It's pretty easy, but still some configurations.

See this link - nested VMs

You must enable "Promiscuous" mode on the vSwitch (or at least the portgroup) the virtual ESX connected to

  • DL380 G3 ESX 3i Version 3.5.0 network drivers

I am very new to VMWare and having a problem setting up of my first installation of comments.

I have a DL380 G3 with ESX 3i Version 3.5.0 installed.  In VMware Infrastructure Client, I can see the following network card:

    NC7781 Gigabit (PCI - X, 10,100,1000-T) server adapter

My first guest OS is Server 2008 Standard (32-bit).

In the comments, I can't get a driver installed.

    That's what I tried:

Drivers HP.  I am told that the intelligent installation is not supported in a virtual machine.  So I extracted the files and tried to install.  I am told that the drivers are incorrect.

Broadcom drivers.  I can get windows install these, but same problem, drivers are incorrect, and they do not start.

I am sure that the hardware is supported and is on the compatibility list.

    Help, please!

    Thank you.

    Hi Robrandon,

    Welcome to the forums.

Never try to use a physical device driver in a virtual machine. Check that your virtual machine is configured with the information in the appropriate operating system and has a virtual NIC attached. Then install VMware tools. The network card must be running in your comments.

    Good luck.

  • Recommendation for disaster recovery on the spot for a single server ESX from VMware vSphere 4?

I'm exploring setting up a new Dell server running ESX 4 vSphere VWware and wonder what is a good solution to allow a recovery solution disaster on-site in the event of complete failure of the server?  At the very least, I think that I would need a server similar to the site, but not sure if vCenter or what solution would allow the ability to quickly recover virtual machines, I had running on this single server?

    Thank you

Only for simple cases of storage shared. Veeam does not free ESXi support, but you can actually buy vSphere Essentials (3 guests more a vCenter) for a total of $ 500.
