Ethernet on WRT610N

I have three computers networked through my WRT610N of Linksys router. I installed Linksys EG1032 v3 cards on two of them (WinXP) and file sharing is lightning fast between them. But I noticed that I couldn't share files with the third (Win2K) old computer that uses an older Linksys LNE100TX v4 adapter.  I then noticed that NetBIOS have not installed automatically with the new maps so I installed and then I could share files with the old card. But I noticed a severe drop in speed between the two computers that had the EC1032 v3 cards after that.  In fact, now there are more speed between the EG1032 and 100TX ESA between the two EG1032s!  Is this a coincidence? Is there a solution? What would cause this?

Another question, is the WAN port on the WRT610N gigabit port?

Thank you

DAB

Well, I found out why my speed has slowed so file transfer from one computer to another on my network through my WRT610N.  It was all protocols that I had loaded.

Right now I'm only using:

Client for Microsoft networks.

File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft networks

QoS Packet Scheduler

Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol

I * DID * have thus:

NWLink NetBIOS

NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible transport Protocol

VLAN in Linksys driver intermediate

Protocol LANPkt of Linksys driver

I don't know who did, but I get the gigabit speed between my puters again. YAY!

God bless you!

  • WAG320n to WRT610n connection helps WET610n bridge ethernet

I have upgraded my network with a modem/router WAG320n and have a (ethernet bridge) WET610n in my room remotely.  Because the WET is just a single port, I would like to connect my old WRT610n router to bridge, but need to know the right settings and connection information.  The goal is to use wireless in the remote location and additional ports.

    Problem solved and improved

    Thanks Klatch,

The WAG320n is nice, but not simultaneous dual band, so I put the 5 GHz.  I wired hard (WAP610n) one point of access to the router, set it to 2. 4 Ghz and placed about 3 meters outside the router.  This gave me access to the second floor for all devices with two bands.  (I have given it's own SSID to distinguish it from the access point).

To extend coverage to the first floor, I installed Ethernet bridge Wireless N (WET610N) on the beach at the fringe of my output of routers (still 4 bars).  The bridge is set to 5 GHz - because what is the WAG320.  Then I connected the router WRT610N (which is simultaneous dual band) to the bridge.  You plug the bridge into a LAN on the WRT610N, NOT the WAN port port.  The WRT610 has been programmed to 192.168.1.2, disabled DHCP, NAT disabled.  I have 3 other hard WAN ports connected to devices (Playstation, Slingbox, Blue Ray player).  All other PC first floor is connected wirelessly via the 2.4 GHZ or 5 GHz bands.  The coverage of the first floor is excellent.   I held the different SSID for each router and Access Point, to distinguish which router or the band I want to connect to.

If linksys has been only the simultaneous dual-band of WAG320, it would provide the extension of coverage to all old and new features!    Everyone is not wrapped around 5 GHz yet!  Then.  If you want to extend and use another router as Repeater (wireless), you need an Ethernet Bridge (or wireless game adapter) to the main router and connect to the secondary router.   Everything can be done with a little effort.  Thank you

  • WRT610N ver.2 fast or Gbit Ethernet?

Just installed.  Network very easy.  Desktop Dell Precision to the router to the modem cable to ISP.

Local network connection XP says it's 1 Gbps.  E'net card is Intel (r) PRO/1000 MTW Network Connection.

No other computer on LAN (yet).

Destop to Router 1 port cable is CAT6.

Why don't the port of Router 1 yellow (10/100 E'net) blue (1 Gbps)?

Is that what I can do about it?

  • WRT610N (hard drive problem)

I want to install an IOMEGA HD to my new WRT610N. When I use the LELA Setup it asks to connect the device via an Ethernet cable. Therefore, it does not recognize the IOMEGA.

I'm trying to conect via a USB cable. Can someone tell me if this is possible and how to do it. ???

    Thank you. Ray

I'm assuming that the WRT610N has already been implemented? I do not recommend jumping the LELA software altogether and establishment of external storage manually.  What is the current version of the firmware on the router?

The guide will explain how to access the web gui and the manual process to set up the external hard drive.

  • WRT610N and Motorola SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

I've upgraded to the modem DOCSIS 3.0 in October due to higher bandwidth offerings of Comcast cable.

Everything was fine until last week when I had recurring loss of Internet connectivity requires me to reboot/cycle my WRT610N and/or modem.

I updated the firmware of the currently displayed 1.00.03 B15 and reset the router.  This did not help the situation.

I also tried the suggestions mentioned here, including the Beacon Interval 75, threshold of Frag 2304, threshold RTS 2307, the wide-40 MHz Radio band.  Reset and cycled the router and modem after all this.  I also tried to power off my computer after each reset, all to nothing does not.

I'm still losing Internet conncectivity several times per hour.  LELA is unable to repair the connection.  So far, the only solution is to reboot the router.

Do I have a defective router (still under warranty), or is there a problem to interface with DOCSIS 3.0 modems.  Never had this problem with the old Comcast cable modem.

My WRT610N is version 1 material.  Wireless encryption is WPA - AES, recommended by Beaver in a previous post in August.  Nothing is connected to the USB port on the router.

Received the replacement router on 22-11-09.  WRT610N rebuilt with firmware v 1.00.03 B15.

Installed with the current LELA software.  Wireless laptop was runing Vista 32-bit, Wired PC on XP Service Pack 3.

Everything works normally again.  Replacement router dropped not a (wired or wireless) connection since its installation.

I find that my original router (bought about 3/09) was defective.

After replacement of the router, I upgraded my OS to Windows 7 (32-bit on laptop wireless, 64-bit Wired desktop).  No problem at all with the router.

    Hope this helps others.

  • Share internet connection - WRT610N support

    Hi all

    I'm looking for help.

    What I want to achieve:

    (1) I want that all my devices wireless - including my Philips TV - share media on the wrt610N using the 610N as my primary router.

    (2) I have a Thomson Speedtouch780 (my ISP, they call it the KPN Experia box). This device connects to the internet and is also a wireless routerwith. I want that all devices use this connection to access the internet.

I configured the WRT160N cable to my PC and a cable for the Thomson router. It works perfectly: my PC wireless can I connect tot the WRT610N and I can access the internet...

Now I want to disconnect the WRT610N router Thomson: I want it to be a wireless link (so I can put the art610 in a more central location). How to do this?

    My WRT610 parameters are:

    Basic configuration:

Internet connection type: automatic configuration - DHCP active

    IP address: 192.168.0.1

    DHCP server: enabled

    Start IP address: 192.168.0.2

IP address range: 192.168.0.2 to 51

    Basic wireless settings:

    5 GHz wireless settings:

    network mode: mixed

    Network name: Corleone_media

    SSID broadcast: enabled

    2.4 GHZ wireless settings:

    Network mode: mixed

    network name (SSID). Corleone

    SSID broadcast: enabled

    My Thomson parameters are:

    IP; 192.168.1.254

    Active DHCP server

    Starting IP address: 192.168.1.70

    Interface-information

    Interfacegroep: LAN
    TCP/IP-configuratie

    Adres van SpeedTouch: 192.168.1.254/24

Fix. A wireless as the WET bridge connects two cables ethernet via a wireless link segments. The RAIN will connect to your wireless router.

  • WRT610N/RT31P2 Internet OK, no file sharing / print

I installed a WRT610N router this weekend.  The 610N takes care of my local positions Microsoft network and connects via the Ethernet port to a RT31P2, where my phone is connected.  The RT31P2 is connected to a cable modem.

After a pass to a Linksys tech, Internet access for all 4 computers connected to the WRT610N works.  VoIP phone service works.  The only thing that doesn't work is not is the file sharing and printers on the network Windows.

All systems running versions of Norton Internet Security (as they were when he is on the cable network) and the Windows Firewall is off.  The four systems show in the table of DHCP reservations, but none of them can see themselves as part of the working group.

Any ideas what may cause this?

Problem solved.  New versions of Norton require that each individual computer be labelled with full trust from the view of the network card rather than enter a range of IP addresses of trusted network.

  • WRT610N can be used to connect to the net via the canopy wireless

Hi, I have a subscription fixed antenna wireless here in the middle of the rice fields and that connect you to the Internet through a Web Access Manager whenever I restart my computer. It looks like this:

The antenna connects to a brick of power with an ethernet cable, the brick also has an outgoing port that goes to my PC (and, hopefully, to a WRT610N). How to configure the WRT610N if I can share the connection with my other devices?

    Thank you!

Go to the router configuration page, click the Status Check if the router is able to acquire an IP address. If so, try to connect your computer to the router. You should be able to see the WAM page. I'm not sure how your ISP handles the user name and password on the WAM page. It might display the same WAM page on other computers which are connected to the router. We will try.

  • Configure the WRT610N as an access point?

I have a local wired network with a WAP54G access point that connects the 2 laptops wireless for the local network and internet.  I want to replace the access point with a WRT610N.   How to configure the WRT610N as an access point?   Can I connect my access point to the Internet on the WRT610N, or to one of the four ethernet ports cable Cat6?

  • Quality of Service with WRT610N and Vonage

I try to get the quality of Service, in collaboration with my WRT610N and my Vonage device.  The WRT is connected directly to a cable modem, and the Vonage device is connected to the Ethernet 1 port.  I have configured the MAC address of the Vonage on the QoS tab as 'High' priority (done by selecting the 'voice device' on the drop-down list category).  In addition, I put my Vonage options (on the my account page of the Vonage site) to use the higher throughput (90 kbps, I think).  Any other setting QoS have been made.

However, the router seems not to be the QoS application at all.  If I do any kind of surfing at all (dragging around on Google maps to load new pages of satellite is a good test), the quality of voice over a call during Vonage is very choppy.  What I have to do something else to make sure that the Vonage device gets highest priority?

    Follow these connection parameter:

    Modem (DSL/Cable)-> VONAGE-> WRT610N

Your Modem must be connected to your VONAGE and your VONAGE Ethernet, plug it into the Internet Port of you router LINKSYS. You also check the VONAGE internet connection by connecting your PC to your Ethernet VONAGE before connecting the WRT610N router.

While I'm the 'computer' guy for family and friends, I turned in the novice because of this; I'm lost and feel beaten.  Please be as complete as possible with instructions/answers.  Guess I'm a noob.

My plan is to use the WD external hard drive as a backup of my files and run the music/movies, etc out of it to my TV installation / audio salon through my Playstation3 or whatever.  My problem is simply to obtain the files copied to the external hard drive.  And being that this is a fairly simple HDD, I think that the issue could be with the USB (SIN) / configuration of the connection through the router.  That, or maybe there are authorization implementation issues.  I know that the HD has a setting for the mode 'sleep' - I did get to a point where I can adjust.  Anyway, I was able to get a record created but nothing to copy.  Then, I was (finally) able to delete the folder, etc..  I don't know if I'm missing some configuration/installation or if the scenario is just climbing.

And for those of you who know software MioNet and/or WD Anywhere Backup provided with outside, I have installed the software on my computer laptop but has not been signed by all accounts and do not use them.  So I think that they are not a factor.  Just thought I would include this info just in case it is important.

Here are several screenshots which can help you diagnose my problem:

On the router configuration page, rather than share the public folder, share the whole score. Once done, on the computer, map the drive and check.

  • Not getting the modem DHCP address WRT610n cable.

I bought the WRT610n about a month, and he works very well with the help of "connection type: Automatic Configuration - DHCP" until 3 days ago. He now does not (software wise) Internet connection. The Internet Blue representative icon lights up when I plug the ethernet cable, and the link on the cable modem light also lights up when I do the ethernet connection. I tried the power reset the cable modem and the router by pressing the reset button to return the router for the settings by default and swapped the ethernet cables. But whenever I look on the router status screen, I 0.0.0.0 for all entries of the intellectual property.  I press the buttons on the screen to "release IP address" and "renew IP address", but nothing helped. When I plug the same ethernet directly from the modem cable on my laptop, I get a DHCP assigned IP address and I am able to connect to the Internet. So, this leads me to believe that this isn't a problem of cable company/cable modem.  The revision of the firmware of the 610 is 1.00.00 B18 any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, because I have several devices that have been set up for their necessary updates on wireless Internet pass the 610 and are now dead in the water.

Problem solved! I read in another post about a link to correctly configure a Linksys router to a cable connection. I had to activate "clone mac address" to get the connection works. I don't know why it worked for a month with this option disabled. I remember last week, my Internet connection went down for about 24 hours, and when he returned to the top, I couldn't connect. But "clone mac address" is always disabled on the router 610. Maybe the cable operator had 'Authentication MAC' disabled and then enabled it the week after the blackout last? I also noticed that dynamic IP from the ISP range went from front 69.x.x.x 173.x.x.x failure later. It seems that the cable company (Cablevision of NYC) changed their addressing scheme and enabled MAC authentication in the process.

Here is the link to the instructions of cable modem:

  • WRT610n & Apple TV problems

    Hello

Since I upgraded my WRT610n router to the latest firmware 1.00.03 B15 I'm unable to see the apple tv as a device in iTunes on any computer connected to the network (wired or wireless). I have apple TV on a multimedia network dedicated (only in the N band) and computers are on the G-banding and ethernet. If I put apple tv over the network with computers, I can see it on the devices connected to the same wireless network, but NOT on the ethernet network. I have concluded that the last firrmware broke the bounjour service, which is an implementation of multicast.  I have a ticket open with support on the issue. I requested a copy of the previous firmware (B10) support and they could not provide me with a copy.

Someone at - it a copy of the firmware back they could give me a URL or email it to me? I'd appreciate any help as apple tv without iTunes is essentially worthless. Thank you!

Someone posted a link to the firmware B10, I downloaded and applied to my router. Everything works fine again. Clearly a problem with the B15 firmware and based on the message of messages I'm not the only one having problems with it!

  • WRT610N and compatible usb drives

    Hello

Has someone managed to get a stable connection to the external hard drive USB on the WRT610N?

I would use a hard drive enclosure that turns down the drive with a sleep mode for reasons of noise and energy.

With the latest firmware (1.00.02 B10) I tried:

Vantech Nexstar 3i with a Seagate 1 TB - works very well until the player will power mode how the router to start up export drive even if the USB is on and the management page shows the drive always connected

Western Digital My Book essential 1 TB - the router is not even mount the external hard drive.  I tried everything... FAT32, NTFS... waited, plugged the USB in and out, power cycled the router...

Any help would be appreciated, because I spent countless hours trying to get something to work.

OK, I finally have a system of USB storage to work with a hard drive that goes to sleep.

Looks like there's a previous WRT610N that does not have a version 1 on the stamp on the underside of the router.  This router did not work well with my hard drives.  I'm a worm 1 WRT610N and use mounts (1.00.00 B18) F/W, The Western Digital My Book essential 1 TB factory delivered and everything works fine.  On the USB data rates are approximately 2.4 MB/s via wireless with security AES .n and 5 MB/s via ethernet cable.  Funny is that more recent (1.00.02 B10) firmware will not mount drive Western Digital My Book.  Interesting that in the version notes it says «enhanced recognition of USB external hard drives»  Well, at least I'm happy with something that works; 4 weeks and many hours.  Unfortunately, Linksys does no more than F/W on their website, so I'll never upgrade in case I lose the ability to connect to my new hard drive.
