Example: Pavilion 2226: hard drive partition

I have little space unallocated and add volume to the C drive. But I'm unable to extend the volume that the option "extend volume" was greyed out. Please suggest how to extend the volume on drive C. I use Windows 8 OS 64-bit unique language.

Differnet reasons extend grey Volume

Here are some situations where a Volume "extend" will not work:

1. If there is no allocated or free space on hard drive or the space is not contiguous and after the partition that needs expansion.
2 users want to extend a primary partition, but there is only a free space immediately after the partition target.
3. If the partition is not a NTFS partition. According to Microsoft, which extends the service volume in disk management only works for a vintage or a NTFS partition.

Try using MiniTool Partition Wizard, which can help you with the problem.

  • Satellite P750 PSAY1A: how to create the recovery Toshiba on the new HARD drive partition

    Hello

I have an old Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY1A-01Y022). I just upgraded my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB and am preparing to take my 500 GB HARD drive 1 TB. I had to order the disk online and wait to happen.

I always try to understand how to create the arrival of my new HARD drive Toshiba Recovery Partition. I do the same thing for an old book, I handled based on something similar to it's original factory State.

I have reflected on the recovery partition, but does not know how it was created. It is not NTFS. Does anyone have experience in the creation of a Toshiba Recovery on a new HARD drive Partition?

And the help is very appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,
    Dinesh

Recovery partition can be created when you use the original Toshiba Recovery disk and install recovery image. Before the partitions to boot OS install will be automatically created, recovery image copied on a recovery and then partition as last step recovery image installation starts.

A sort of migration of files from one to the other HARD disk is not solution.

Only for laptop with factory will work and the usable recovery partition.

  • How to copy the recovery on the new HARD drive partition, HARD drive failed?

    Hallo,

I have a Compaq Mini netbook with Windows 7 Starter.

The HARD drive has failed and it is not repairable. However, it seems that the recovery partition is OK.

I want to buy a new HARD drive, install the driver on the netbook, and then use the tools/recovery partition to install windows 7 on a new PC.

So, the question is simple: how to copy the recovery for the new HARD drive partition?

    Hello s91066.

If your hard drive of your laptop doesn't have? If this is the case, what do you mean by the "recovery partition is ok? I doubt that this laptop has two hard disks, so if you are able to see this partition of your hard drive may still work.

You will need a set of recovery disks to restore the partitions on the new drive. If you can start Windows, which you can probably not with a dead hard drive, you can follow these steps if you can get into Windows.

If you are unable to boot into Windows, you need a set of disks. You can order it directly from HP. The number of the United States / Canada is 1-800-474-6836. If you are in another domain, you must visit HP's Support around the world to find contact information for your region.

I hope that is useful; have a great weekend!

  • How can I make a DVD of the restore hidden in my external hard drive partition recovery

How can I make a DVD of the restore hidden in my external hard drive partition recovery because I want to recover my toshiba satellite L840 that does not respond directly to my hard drive so I put my laptop to an external HARD drive and then I want to copy a DVD recovery partition

Your question is a bit confusing, you can boot the laptop at all? Have you tried booting in safe mode, you can make a recovery DVD set from there, the folder Toshiba.

With the drive in the Toshiba, you should be able to use a F, F10, F11, or F12 key to activate the installation from the partition hidden started upward.

Otherwise, you can contact Toshiba, and with the model of the product id number and the laptop for Windows, you can buy a set of disks.

  • How to delete hard drive partitions

Can someone help to give me advice on how to remove my hard drive on my Satellite 2520 partitions? Partitions only appeared after using the system now recovery disk, I have c:d:e: disc where as before didn't the c: folder. This caused me problems when you try to install programs like not enough space available now.

    Hi Luke,.

Your recovery CD has two options for the installation of your system. The first option is just to format your hard drive and then install a single partion \C: on which your operating system is mounted. The second option is "Advanced" installation in which you can partition your hard drive in any format you want so that you end up with a multiple logical disks \C:, \D:. \E: etc.

The second option is preferred by many users because it allows them to keep their user data on a separate partition of their operating system.

As for your problem, you might return to a partition of acronym of re-installing your recovery CD by using the "standard installation", as described above, but then you lose one of your own stuff, unless you save first. Alternatively, you can get a copy of a third-party utility (for example, PartionMagic) to reformat your existing installation.

My personal preference would be a re - install from your recovery CD, but this will depend on how much you have added to your system, since you installed it last.

  • Re: Question about HARD drive partitions

My uncle bought me a laptop Satellite A100 European 5 months ago and I don t have the card with me. Then all of a sudden, my operating system has been corrupted and I had to format my hard drive. I used the recovery CD I received with the laptop. The box contains 3 CD. I followed the instructions.

I had to use two of the CD and now I only have one big disk.
Is it possible for me to make the hard disk partition after formatting?
    Help, please!

The description provided by sanremo only works with Vista.
If you have a XP OS you will need a 3rd party application like Partition Magic 8, for example.
I use this PM8 and I m very happy. This great software to create, manage and edit the partitions on the HARD disk.

  • HP Pavilion G6: hard drive DST short test failed

My laptop HP Pavilion G6 fails to load Windows. HP UEFI diagnostics for hard drive failed the short DST test with GU754F-6PK7GW-MFPWXG-60TQ03 error code. Does this mean I need to replace my hard drive? Product ID of my laptop is E3D62EA #ABU and I Win8.1 64 BIT installed on it.

    Thank you

    GR

    Hello

Your laptop is listed as coming with a 750 GB 5400 RPM hard drive, but you can replace this with a 750 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive for a little more performance - the reader on links below is an example that would be perfect for your laptop.

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 52 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery media to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

If you do not have your recovery media, you can order a replacement set using the link below (I assumed the model No., you live in the United Kingdom).

    Order HP recovery disks.

    Kind regards

  • T3065.uk Pavilion: Pavilion t3065 hard drive upgrade

I've been trawling the internet to find a definitive answer to the question "can I put my main hard drive of t3065 Pavilion of the Maxtor 200 GB sata I type in a Western Digital 1 TB Sata III type (WD10EZEX for example) '? '" Some sites suggest that SATA III is backward compatible with SATA II and SATA I the 'bus' will be held at the lower speed provided by the controller. Others say that the SATA III is backward compatible with SATA II and SATA II is backward compatible with SATA I but SATA III is not compatible with SATA I.

Has anyone installing a SATA III tried on a SATA I controller disc?

Is the card mother puffer2 actually SATA II in the first place?

SATA II drives are rare, and I would like an answer to that question pretty quickly.

    Thank you very much

    Peter

    Hello.

Yes, you can use the player, even if your motherboard supports SATA I because SATA III drives are backwards compatible with SATA I ports. However, keep in mind that the maximum speed of the disk will be slower because of lower speed limits of the port.

By example, if you connect a drive SATA III in SATA I port the sequential read/write speeds could reach a maximum speed of SATA I (which is 1.5 Gb/s).

    I hope this helps.

    See you soon!

  • HP Pavilion Touchsmart - hard drive failure

My hardly used HP Pavilion Touchsmart is extremely slow and even a simple operation like 'save' used to take hours. I did a check of HDD on login and this resulted in the following result:

    HDD SMART Check: past

    Hard drive short DST: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: PQDVW2-6PL7RA-MFPWXG-6OU603

    Product ID: D8Q11EA #ABU

Earlier on, I had a startup problems, so I gave her the laptop for curries that have indicated that they add a new hard drive.

So not sure that the problem has been resolved, but I have a hard drive failure.

How do I rectify this? All solutions?

    Thank you.

Each time the short hard drive DST test fails with 24 alphanumeric characters "PQDVW2-6PL7RA-MFPWXG-6OU603" which indicates that the hard drive has failed and which needs to be replaced to solve the problem

This problem could be due to an Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, incorrect judgments, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power so portable, sudden falls etc...

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files. • help with my lapi hard drive partitioning

    Model number - hp pavilion g6 2005ax

    operating system-Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit

    Hi all

I bought this laptop but it came with only 1 partition c: IE

I want to partition the hard drive physically while incase I want to format and re install windows only the c: disk gets formatted and are always sure to have erased my data to other readers. I saw a lot of question-answers here, but most of them is in regards to logical partitions which obviously will erase all data, once the system I want not restored. I do not know the abcd to partition my hard drive... .Please help out me.

I want to know in detail all the steps I have to follow from the beginning to the end. I know nothing abt how to create backup of recovery, drive on the road system tools and hp... Please can someone patiently explain the whole process to me...

If you have 3 options in the Recovery Manager - System Recovery, minimized Image and factory settings - system recovery is 'supposed' only format the C: partition and leave the others alone. IF you don't have a single option_A System Recovery will return the disk hard back to the factory settings.

  • Satellite A215-S4757 blue screen & startup failure after HARD drive partitioning

I just bought a Satellite A215-S4757 a week ago & I tried to divide my hard drive coz, I was only one partion (250 GB) using acronis disk director.

After that I got the blue screen and now I failed to start and I tried all the options to repair my windows or load in SafeMode to no avail coz it crashes just from the window of microsoft corporation.

I tried to reinstall windows vista with the cd but still does not!
    pls someone helo me :(

    Hello

Creator of disc of Acronis does not for me but I know for sure that you can split the capacity of the HARD drive into two partitions with rendering recovery DVDs. Start your laptop with recovery DVDs and check the option to install it.

You must have a mobile US model. I am from Europe and I don't know about you how it works with the recovery media in the United States, but it should be similar to the European and because of that it must be an option to divide the capacity of the HARD disk with two partitions.

Please try again. It should work somehow.

  • Questions on on Satellite A300 HARD drive partitions

    Hello

I would like to install a new OS (new operating system: Windows 7, old OS: Vista Edition Home Premium) on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A300-237) to repartition the whole HARD drive. I see a non-standard partition, its size is of ~ 1 GB, can I delete this partition?

    What information contains this partition?
I did the recovery previously by Toshiba HDD Recovery disks. Guess when I delete any partition and put in place and installation of the discs, will recover the initial state (including the hidden partition)?

    Thank you

If you want to install your own Win7 version delete all existing partitions and then create a C partition for the installation of the OS.
I guess you write over WinRE partition and it is about 1.5 GB.

I installed Win7 ultimate 32 bit on my Satellite A300 and it works perfectly.
If you need assistance with installing Win7 let me know.
